I felt humiliated today

At work today my manager brought us some treats in for Easter, I had a biscuit and was eating it on the shop floor, she actually told me off I felt like a naughty school girl, she told me to hide it, I felt so humiliated, this isn’t the first time she’s done things like this, is she bullying me?

It was a biscuit

But it looks unprofessional to eat on the shop floor.

If you can't see what is wrong with this then I think you need to talk to your colleagues and ask them before you do things like this.

She gives off vibes that she doesn’t like me

Maybe it’s your attitude, not her vibes FFS

Ah well maybe I should just hand my notice in then

There’d probably be large sighs of relief from more than just your manager, tbh.
Are you new to the world of work?

Is she really singling you out or is she just catching you doing things you shouldn't be?

People are telling you it's not allowed (it's certainly not professional) and you're refusing to have it! I can't imagine wandering around shopping and seeing a member of staff eating on the shop floor. I. My 40 odd uears of existence, I'm pretty sure I've never seen that - there's probsbly a reason why! Perhaps, because it's not permitted and unprofessional?

Yes she singles me out, she will laugh and talk to others, but never to me, I always feel like I’m treading on eggshells around her, and she deliberately makes my job harder than it should be, if she saw anyone else eating a biscuit, I can guarantee she wouldn’t gave said anything to them.

I can tell from your posts why she wouldn’t like you. Good god this can’t be real!

I guess we have to eat them in the staff room

Well yes it would make sense that you can eat them in the staff room but not on the shop floor.

I don’t really think it’s about the biscuit, to be honest I’m becoming very close to asking her outright if she actually likes me and wants me working there.

That would be rather a silly question. Few of us get to choose who we work with, but we try to get on with them. If you feel you are being bullied, presumably there is a complaints procedure?

How exactly does she make your job harder than it should be?
Do you try to do other things that everyone else understands not to?

What do you mean by this exactly? As I’ve been told by other managers there I’m one of the best workers, that’s why I’ve swapped roles recently.

How come customers come in with food and drinks then when they’re not supposed to?

The customers are not in their place of work. You are expected to maintain a standard of professionalism, they are not obliged to.

You just don’t seem to understand how to behave in a work setting.

Lauraanddogs · 04/04/2026 22:00

If it’s a shop? Eat behind the scenes? Where do you normally eat food and snacks? Rules still apply. No does not sound as it if she was bullying you on what grounds do you think she was out of interest?

Theirs signs on the door no food and drink allowed, if they ignore surely I can too.

If you don't mind being fired, then sure.

I'm not sure how you don't understand the difference between being a customer and an employee.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 04/04/2026 22:01

You sound incredibly immature. Arguing against people and then just saying you might as well quit rather than taking on board what people are saying. Listen to the advice, grow up and start behaving at work.

You sound like a 6 year old, if you’re the best worker they have, the company is on thin ice.
