I felt humiliated today

At work today my manager brought us some treats in for Easter, I had a biscuit and was eating it on the shop floor, she actually told me off I felt like a naughty school girl, she told me to hide it, I felt so humiliated, this isn’t the first time she’s done things like this, is she bullying me?

Customers shouldn't eat in the shop but they are NOT BEING PAYED BY THE SHOP so you can't hold their behaviour to the same standards as your own. Dh is in sales and sometimes has to eat shit because clients can be rude. If he would be rude back he would be fired so he bites his tongue.

We bite our tongue too but it doesn’t make it right.

Surely everybody knows that if you are a shop worker then you don’t eat on the shop floor. I knew this when I was a 15 year old shop assistant.

I get the feeling that eating on the shop floor isn’t the only unprofessional thing you do at work, which would explain why you think your manager is targeting you.

I can’t think of anything else I have done wrong, no one has said anything anyway.

I get why you’re feeling this way. Maybe it is better if you leave your job and have a new start.

The OP did fess and understands she shouldn’t eat on the shop floor.

However, she’s now giving it the “well if customers can break the rules and eat in shops then why can’t I?” 🙄

She doesn’t fess up her age unfortunately. I also have a guess. Would love to know if I was close!
