I felt humiliated today

At work today my manager brought us some treats in for Easter, I had a biscuit and was eating it on the shop floor, she actually told me off I felt like a naughty school girl, she told me to hide it, I felt so humiliated, this isn’t the first time she’s done things like this, is she bullying me?

I recently won colleague of the month I won a gift voucher, she made me feel small saying “oh we are just waiting for you to leave so we don’t have to give it to you’

That sounds like a joke. Don’t worry though, I’m sure it won’t happen again

pinenuts75 · 04/04/2026 21:48

Ah well maybe I should just hand my notice in then

How come customers come in with food and drinks then when they’re not supposed to?

Is this a pisstake thread?

I’m not sure why though, I work hard I believe, just lately she’s swapped my role, and says it’s working better, so I just don’t get it as far as I know she’s happy with my work, but maybe she just doesn’t like me for whatever reason.

Have you been bullied before? Are you perhaps overthinking this?

Just leave it imo, accept that you were wrong here and move on. Definitely dont bring it up to her though, you'll sound silly x

No asking for opinions

My opinion is your manager was right to pull you up.

I don’t really think it’s about the biscuit, to be honest I’m becoming very close to asking her outright if she actually likes me and wants me working there.

Why did she bring them if you can't even eat them? 🤔.

No

No I don’t think that’s it

Take your time with this; eat a biscuit and have another think about it

RaininSummer · 04/04/2026 21:49

I imagine it's against work rules to eat on the shop floor. The treats would be for breaks.

I guess we have to eat them in the staff room

Oh most certainly.
No one could be so stupid with one head.

Drpawpawspaw · 04/04/2026 21:50

pinenuts75 · 04/04/2026 21:35

It was a biscuit

Doesn’t matter what it was. It was something you shouldn’t have been doing and so were told to stop. Zero bullying.

youalright · 04/04/2026 21:50

pinenuts75 · 04/04/2026 21:43

I don’t ignore rules, I didn’t realise eating one small biscuit would be such a crime, she’s always having a go at me or making digs anyway

She's probably always having a go at you because you don't seem to have much common sense so need telling about every little thing. I work in a shop and people often bring in cakes, biscuits etc they are for break or to take home not to eat while working

KilkennyCats · 04/04/2026 21:50

pinenuts75 · 04/04/2026 21:35

No she singles me out, I get the feeling she doesn’t like me much.

Clearly you were the only one scoffing on the shop floor.
Did you seriously not understand that the biscuits were meant for your tea break?

I think that might just be it. 🤣

PersephonePomegranate · 04/04/2026 21:50

pinenuts75 · 04/04/2026 21:36

I can understand if I was working on the till, but I wasn’t

Is she really singling you out or is she just catching you doing things you shouldn't be?

People are telling you it's not allowed (it's certainly not professional) and you're refusing to have it! I can't imagine wandering around shopping and seeing a member of staff eating on the shop floor. I. My 40 odd uears of existence, I'm pretty sure I've never seen that - there's probsbly a reason why! Perhaps, because it's not permitted and unprofessional?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 04/04/2026 21:51

pinenuts75 · 04/04/2026 21:48

Ah well maybe I should just hand my notice in then

I wonder if your attitude is the issue? Because I have been bullied at work and it’s very different to being told not to do something that you obviously shouldn’t have done.

You know that nobody here is concerned about whether you resign? You have an issue with authority but it definitely sounds like a ‘you’ problem

Overtheatlantic · 04/04/2026 21:51

You were incredibly unprofessional to be eating on the shop floor. That’s what breaks are for. How do you not know this?

pinenuts75 · 04/04/2026 21:51

She probably doesn’t like your attitude or the fact that you can’t understand why you shouldn’t be troughing biscuits on the shop floor

WhatYouWearing · 04/04/2026 21:52

Do you chew gum on the shop floor too OP? I kinda feel sorry for your manager. You sound close to getting sacked if you can’t understand what you did was wrong.
