I turned on the news to learn that our great and faithful ally, threw Australia, Japan and South Korea out the proverbial window today. I will have to catch up in the newspapers.

Thanks. Luckily I'm in a Blue state, pretty secure financially, and past childbearing age. And both my sons are past draft age and have conditions that, whilst not affecting their day to day lives, make them ineligible for military service. And lot of his rhetoric is safe for me to 'sort of' ignore because Gavin (Newsom) has been pretty damn good at sheltering us from the worst of it.
That's not to say I don't fear for my Country or all of those residing here, legal or otherwise. I truly do. There's a lot that could happen between now and the midterms, and between the midterms and the '28 election. And at this point, all we can do is wait to see where the next turd will hit. And protest. We're getting good at protesting. I haven't seen protests like this since the heyday of the VN War. And even then, they weren't as big as the ones like the coordinated 'No Kings' protests.

It just makes me so fucking angry that even with this ongoing debacle so many people still seem to think he knows what he's doing. That man couldn't find his own arse with both hands and a flashlight. And yet there are people who still believe his incoherent nonsense. If that man was a monkey, even if you gave him 100,000 years, he still wouldn't type out Mary had a Little Lamb, let alone the Bible.

My contact in Kuwait says that the constant attacks are exhausting as they can't sleep properly, so it must be much worse for the people in Iran. I cannot imagine what it must be like to live in a war zone.

I keep sort of forgetting Israel are also attacking Iran - then read that they’re destroying petrochemical plants- but Donald always seems to take the stage on it, as if it’s all his war.

Does he say anything about Israel’s part? Are they involved in negotiations? Does Israel mention the us part? Could one stop but the other continue?

I feel I missed something on this, so apologies for stupid queries.

I understand it’s a deal or 4 hours of those pleasant sounding bombs to destroy all bridges at 8pm Eastern Time tomorrow- so will this ‘deal’ include Israel’s demands, though I’m not really sure what they are either, I think I just know they want to stop Iran sponsoring Hamas and Hezbollah.

I have given up listening to Trump ramblings. He always says the same BS.
But..... did he really say Iranians like the bombs because they want to be free? Free by bombing = dead or what? He cannot sell us that the Iranian population is in favour of this war. We ain't stupid.

Regarding Israel, nobody mentions them on the deal talks. Weird. But, well, we know by now that they cannot sit on their hands at all. First to shoot, any time. Whether Trump knew or not, we shall have another two days of useless ramblings.
I think the US- Iran war will finished when US leaves the area. But Israel- Iran will not stop. Judging by the LEGO videos, that will carry on and on and on....

The big question is what will happen with the other big conflict: oil and other basic supplies flow. It needs to keep moving at a faster flow. There are lots of people suffering already. Trump is dreaming if he thinks he can charge a toll for Hormuz- I am hearing incresing noise on that front. Make the Gulf States pay for the war. Get the countries that use the Strait to pay for the war. Tolls... Well, that is so not happening.
But... if the three countries at war start obliterating oil, water, power and other basic infrastructure, what will the world do?

It would be a lot of work for them. Due to their previous behaviour in running charities.

A November court order resolved the lawsuit, and Trump ultimately paid a total of $2 million in damages to eight charities, which also received equal portions of the foundation’s remaining $1.8 million.
But it is not the case, as viral social media posts claim, that the Trump family was “disallowed from operating ANY charity” in New York “because they stole from a kids cancer charity.” That distorts the facts on a number of fronts, including by conflating two separate matters.
First of all, it’s wrong to say the family was “disallowed” from operating a charity in the state. There was no such stipulation in the settlement with the attorney general.
While the attorney general’s <a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20190913080610/ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/court_stamped_petition.pdf" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">lawsuit initially asked the court to bar Trump and his grown children who sat on the foundation’s board from serving as any charity’s “officer, director, trustee or equivalent position” for a period of time, the settlement reached did not do that.

Instead, the agreement imposes a number of requirements that the president must meet if he “decides to serve as an officer or director of a pre-existing charitable organization” — or “form a new charitable organization and serve as an officer or director thereof” — in New York. For example, if Trump were to start a new organization, he would need to “provide Annual Reports to the Attorney General for 5 years.”
It also required Trump’s children — Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump — to participate in “mandatory training” relating to charitable organizations, which the three have already undergone.
There also was no part of the state’s lawsuit that dealt with allegations that the Trump Foundation “stole from a kids cancer charity,” as the posts claim.
That detail appears to stem from a 2017 Forbes story that alleged Eric Trump’s separate nonprofit organization, the Eric Trump Foundation, engaged in self-dealing and misled donors.
The magazine wrote that the foundation publicly proclaimed that all proceeds from its annual golf tournament at a Trump golf club would go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. However, while the foundation did donate millions to that organization, it also made large payments to the Trump Organization to host the event and some funds were directed to different charities, Forbes found.
While the New York attorney general’s office said it was “looking into” the findings of the Forbes report back in 2017, those allegations were not part of the lawsuit involving the Donald J. Trump Foundation.
Eric Trump has since resigned from his foundation, which has rebranded as Curetivity.

The world will either have to find another way of living without the oil, pay Iran to let the boats through or get drawn into an illegal war.

In my uneducated opinion, they need to get Trump and Netanyahu to the Hague on war crimes (along with others including Putin, but that's another thread) and hope that this brings the illegal war in Iran to an end and that Iran let's the oil flow again as a result.

I fully agree with you that we really need this lot in the Hague.
But how to get them there?

Living without oil- yes, but it will take some time. It is the huge suffering this will cause in the immediate term which is heart breaking
Negotiate- positive that this is already on the go, with a large number of countries. For all shippings, not only crude. But if they destroy infrastructure, then... there will not be a solution to this massive supply issue for decades to come
Getting into the war- I hope it never gets to that. It is not worthy to sacrifice our principles. As we are already in trouble and there is no turning back, we better go down with some pride and dignity and our values.

I seem to remember a time when gov't/press relations allowed it to ask the press to hold on reporting something, and they did. Unfortunately Trump has banned reporters from several news organisations and replaced them with MAGA podcasters and influencers.

And this applies to me too as the WH regime (apt term there) is using up 90% of my band width.

I was thinking last night as I was getting ready for bed how awful it would be to be a parent in Iran right now. Awful to be anyone, regardless of reproductive status, but it reminded me of being in New York and trying to keep a normal bedtime routine for my kids, who were too little to understand, the night of 9/11 when we had no idea what was going to happen next.
