Reform UK just broke electoral law in Gorton and Denton

People across the constituency thought they were getting a letter from a concerned pensioner, they didn’t know she was working for Reform

I've got £1 on fuck all being done.

PandoraSocks · 06/02/2026 18:05

Speaking of Reform. Here is my tax. The Reform leader in Wales before he decided to join the racists. Yes, it is genuine.

I hope the weather is better where you are @biwi it has been relentlessly pissing it down here in my part of Wales. Very fed up of it.

Sorry @DuncinToffee I forgot to say thanks for the new 🧵

The printer obviously wants to keep a lucrative contract.

Can add that to all the other times that they have broken electoral law and fuck all has been done.

Drive from London to Cardiff was horrific. So much rain and spray led to much reduced visibility

itsgettingweird · 06/02/2026 18:37

Found you all.

missed all the dicking around in the last thread 😉🤣

Was listening to the news on the way to Aldi this evening (anyone else noting that food prices seem to have settled?) and heard about police raiding 2 properties of Mandleson.

I really hope Starmer has his powder dry as he’s done some great things (saw the post about returns) and economy has been settling lately. I think a change of Government leader right now would be so unsettling and just give the media another person to go after.
whilst ignoring Badenoch’s and Farages amnesia further.

Thanks for the new thread. Expect this one will rattle by as well!

Doubling back from the last thread to the FT article regarding Trump pumping cash in to UK think tanks and talking to Reform behind the scenes - it seems what they want to attack is online regulation in Europe and the UK.

The tech bros are backing Trump because he gives them absolute freedom & they trust him to go after external regulators. Thats the price of their support.

There really needs to be a means to compel think tanks to publish their list of donors and to be able to look behind whatever corporate vehicle is used to disguise the origin of the bribes, sorry, charitable donations.

If there is one way the government could protect our democracy it would be this.

The spray is horrible and yet people drive so fast which slows careful drivers down.

I drove the other way today @BIWI it was completely horrible, particularly the Welsh side of the bridge. In other news, I saw Operation Mincemeat which had some good stuff about everyone!s lives mattering as well as being very funny and clever. I’ve managed not to be stabbed or mugged, even though I walked around the West End after 10pm wearing some jewellery and then came back to Whitechapel - all as a single woman travelling alone. It’s a miracle. Though I will say Whitechapel is feeling a bit more run down and less safe than when I was last here - I was approached twice by people trying to ask for money between the station and my hotel.
Cat tax of Perdy playing in the bath. When I came out of my room from doing the packing she was running laps around it. That’s her ‘What?’ Face.

Rather than Starmer going I would like to see things like the Palantir contracts looked at again. And REALLY reviewed both by the intelligence/security services and to see if Mandleson/Mandleson lobbying form had any connection with the contract being extended he definitely did and then they should cancel the contract. Which may well cost a lot.
Either the technology provided by Palantir isn't essential to the NHS and defence industry. In which case we shouldn't be giving Palantir 100s of millions. Or it is essential, in which case we should be developing our own in house, onshore alternatives as a matter of extreme urgency. Outsourcing it seems insane. Especially to an unreliable "ally". Especially to a company whose owners have explicitly said they don't agree with British values or the NHS. And are also deeply embroiled in the Epstein scandal.

If Starmer is made to leave and replaced by someone like Streeting who keeps all those agreements and links in place I will be so disappointed.

McSweeny can f off though.

I hooe Starmer stays but I am not optimistic. I doubt it would be Streeting who replaces him as he has too many close links to Mandelson.

Plus Streeting has some very dodgy social media posts in his past. I don't think it can be Rayner because of the tax stuff. She would be would hounded about it forever.

I don't think there really is anyone right now. Al Carns was mentioned the other day.

So has Ed Milliband😉

BIossomtoes · 07/02/2026 08:41

Carns would be an incredibly good call one day. Former senior military officer - his rise to brigadier was meteoric - young, intelligent, great communicator. He’s not ready though, he needs more government experience. Maybe the one after next.

What Government experience did Starmer have before he was elected leader?
