It was just theory, but considering the stress level she did very well. We had a lovely lunch after, did the food shop, just got home.

Aaaargh skating spoilers!

I would say drop in for a coffee while you're passing, but we are heading up the M5 that weekend as dd competing.

@pointythings waiting for them is the worst feeling. There is nothing you can do to help and know that they have probably built it up in to their heads as the ball and end all. I hope it goes well fo her. Flowers

We are coming to Swansea as ds is competing!!!

We will be at the pool all weekend but I’m hoping the weather allows me a sneaky walk along the beach - it’s such a beautiful place.

Mundane thriller update: they did let her test and she passed!

🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 wahooooo - well done minipointy

PandoraSocks · 07/02/2026 18:51

Well done 👏 pointy dd!

pointythings · 07/02/2026 19:39

DD says thank you to all of you - now to the grail quest that is getting a slot fo the actual driving test...

I wish her good luck with that - DS2 failed his test once and then couldn't get another test appointment. 4 years on he hasn't retaken it. 😲

Notonthestairs · 07/02/2026 19:50

Well done pointy’s DD 👏 👏 👏

DS hasn’t sat his theory yet 😬

we actually had a couple of hours of dry weather this afternoon. The fields are still waterlogged but it was nice to walk without a hood up!

It's going to be a nightmare, that much is certain...

Glad to find you all, missed the last thread completely. I need somewhere that isn’t raving against Labour. Still hearing “ the worst government ever” how short memories are! Plenty wrong and some own goals and then Mandelson, but we don’t hear any of the good.

itsgettingweird · 07/02/2026 20:08

Just caught up on The Last Leg. brokers did an amazing rant re Trump’s antics and the blind eye the world
turns and then they did “Mandy”‘song a tribute to Mandleson. It was very clever.

RafaistheKingofClay · 07/02/2026 20:12

There are an awful lot of toddlers complaining that this is the worst government in their lifetime around. At least I assume they are toddlers..

I do enjoy your thread titles, OP. Particularly this one!

I love the figure skating. Couples and singles. Just a delight to watch.

The ski jumps are mad but exhilarating as is every event going down a hill in ice and snow.

Milano Cortina 2026.

DuncinToffee · 07/02/2026 20:30

Thank you GarlicBound, I can't take credit for the majority of titles, it's a team effort.

This one was inspired by our conversations on the previous thread.

I have just watched Becoming on Netflix. I highly recommend it. I read the book and loved it too.

What an amazing woman Michelle Obama is. No wonder Trump is eaten up with jealousy about her and Barack.

Yay! When I took the dogs out earlier there were swans swimming on the flooded kids’ play area in the park. The river looks as if it’s about to burst its banks.

placemats · 07/02/2026 21:53

USA in couple figure skating is incredible to watch. Well deserved.

placemats · 07/02/2026 21:56

I've been to Milan and the cathedral is spectacular. Great city.

placemats · 07/02/2026 22:01

Obviously a big day for GB in the curling tomorrow. But Lindsay Vonn? Go Lindsay!

RafaistheKingofClay · 07/02/2026 22:06

@placemats come join us on the Olympics thread.

Clearly I am slacking. Because I can’t do a downhill at 42 without a ruptured ACL. Go Lyndsey!

placemats · 07/02/2026 22:14

I'll search the link 👍

Spandauer · 07/02/2026 22:45

Greater Manchester Police are investigating Reform over the potential breaking of electoral law in the Gorton & Denton by-election.

The party sent out election materials without identifying they were the promoter.

If Reform won the election the result could be overturned in court.

And very serious consequences for the agent and candidate Matt Goodwin.
^^
Amateur hour. Not a serious party.

And...
Sunday Times reporting the rumours swirling about imminent Morgan McSweeney departure from Number 10.

BestIsWest · 07/02/2026 22:58

Good, if that’s true @Spandauer. He’s to blame for the aping of Reform.

Meanwhile, the new leader of Reform in Wales has bought a house in Bath, it’s rumoured. Candidates in the Senedd elections must reside in Wales. Maybe he’ll move in with his Mam and Dad for the duration of the election.

cardibach · 07/02/2026 23:19

I managed not to get rained on in London (though I was indoors most of the time - saw 2 new musicals) and also still haven’t been stabbed.
I wonder if it’s later proved he doesn’t live in Wales his election (if he’s elected) can be overturned? He’ll be elected as they are bound to get some seats and he’ll have first dibs…
