I think Trump might be about to have his first real political ideology test on the world stage.
Japan PM Takaichi held a snap election, and has won a super majority, enough to change their constitution.
The Party in charge of the PRC do not like her at all. Since she basically said Japan would get involved if the PRC invades Taiwan, the PRC state media campaign against her has been relentless. Magna comics banned in China, anything Japan to be "disliked", and last week all flights between the 2 cancelled. on the PRC side.
Given that PM Takaichi is right wing, a Thatcherite no less, what side will Trump come down on ? Especially if Japanese re-armament is on the cards, which is exactly what Takaichi wants to do.
And if Takaichi does as expected, and starts to talk about removing the pacifist part of the Japanese constitution, will Trump back his fellow right winger ? Or will he back communist/socialist Uncle Xi ? Because Xi does throw such a nice State visit after all.
I don't think Trump will be able to avoid this one.
