Here’s a link to the BBC view on Chagos. Trump is clearly losing whatever marbles he once had. He can’t remember what he said 5mins ago.

Donald Trump signals US support for Chagos handover deal

It comes after the US president suggested last month he could withdraw his support for the deal.

PandoraSocks · 05/02/2026 18:23

Trump has also decided he likes Bill Clinton. Nothing to do with the Clintons giving evidence soon, of course.

Let it be known that I will never allow our presence on a base as important as this to ever be undermined or threatened by fake claims or environmental nonsense.

Environmental nonsense like rising sea levels. Ok King Cnut.

Is Cnut a typo?

Ha ha that'll be awkward for Badenoch/Farage...

RafaistheKingofClay · 05/02/2026 18:39

I’m kind of hoping Clinton is planning on going down in a ball of flames and taking everyone with him. Live on TV. I’ll bet there’s a pretty high chance he never makes it to that hearing.

All these newspapers going for Starmer has got me thinking. It’s almost certainly not an original thought but how likely is it that none of the media owners are linked with Epstein? Virtually all the rich and powerful seem to be connected in some way or another. It doesn’t seem very likely that no investigative journalist any where in the world had any idea and tried to write a story on it.

Starmer needs to be half account for what he did know and what he should have reasonably known. But I’m not sure anyone else ought to be throwing stones at this point. There’s likely to be an awful lot of people who are in glass houses but don’t yet know it.

They'll pretend nothing has been said. The media will obligingly limit coverage of Trump's comments.

Karistyleaftea · 05/02/2026 18:47

5 more hours till this day is done.
I might just turn in now with my book ,
but I really need to see QT tonight.
It will be worth it to see Fiona's expressions.
That Reform bloke was so rude to a member of the audience last time I saw him on it.

cardibach · 05/02/2026 10:37

That part is, indeed, disgusting.
Acting On everything in the files, even just everything we’ve been allowed to see, would basically collapse Western govenrment as far as I can see. Way too many up to their necks in it - especially the right wing groups in a direct line to Epstein via Bannon, getting support because it helped finance Epstein and his disgusting circle.

This such wickedness & it still continues.
I don’t like sweet potatoes, mash or parsnips the wedges with blue cheese sauce sounds lovely, thankfully never had to eat rabbit just the thought makes me green.

LlttledrummergirI · 05/02/2026 22:57

The BBC giving Farage airtime to wax lyrical about Mandelsons appointment and how awful Starmer is, but not asking him why he is in the files.

Does the BBC have any journalists, let alone any political journalists (excepting Victoria Derbyshire)? They are being bloody useless.

Farage is mentioned 41 times. Starmer is mentioned 0 times.

LlttledrummergirI · 05/02/2026 23:54

Exactly. The focus on Starmer, the misdirection away from Farage is weird. Poor journalism at best. It makes one wonder why they aren't asking the questions? Do they have anything to hide?

Nobbystyles · 06/02/2026 06:33

Good morning!

Ynys Gibi to Reform.

My goodness there is a fuck tonne of revisionism going on.

Farage approved of the Mandleson appointment on the basis of Mandleson’s intellect.

Questions were asked about his Chinese contacts and business interests.

But neither Farage or Badenoch raised Epstein as an issue.

LlttledrummergirI · 06/02/2026 08:25

I'm disappointed with Ed Davies over this. I thought he was becoming a genuine leader who did care about the country. His jumping on the bandwagon feels as though he has let us down.

I don't have the same feeling about Badenoch or Farage. Neither of them have the intellect, leadership skills, or moral compass for me to expect anything better.

I take it nobody asked him about Nathan Gill or Steve Bannon?

I'm reminded of the play Amadeus if I may slightly miquote Salieri...

Excuse me, Sire, but what do you think these German virtues American values could be? Being a foreigner, I would love to learn

Arrest a few journalists, bully TV execs, tell Maitlis to Smile & Be Quiet Piggy and rename the Royal Albert Hall Starmer Hall.

Actually I think the BBC & Chsnnel 4 have had a taste of it already.

Ooh, they're subjecting us to more direct propaganda, are they? No reflection on why Europeans aren't cheering them on.

BIossomtoes · 06/02/2026 09:26

I’d love to see Maitlis told to smile and be quiet, she’s one hell of a tough cookie. Anyone who said that to her wouldn’t know what had hit them.

PandoraSocks · 06/02/2026 09:31

Ynys Gybi result (bolding is for the benefit of the twp). 33% turnout. Furlong won as Reform candidate with 603 votes.

Obviously not ideal, but I won't be losing sleep over this result, tbh.

I think it was probably in the segment when they asked him about him supporting Starmer’s appointment of Mandelson.

I don’t watch question time. I assuming Zia Yusuf wasn’t asked about reform’s sudden policy U-turn on the 2 child cap.

Notonthestairs · 06/02/2026 10:22

According to FT Republicans have already been over to talk to Reform representatives regarding spending US dollars 💵 to highlight ‘American values’
