Another person murdered by ICE

I’m in tears and shock at the brutality happening in broad daylight in the US. I’m a US citizen, emigrated to the UK for family reasons 12 years ago (now dual citizen), and I am just in disbelief at what’s happening. I was sick when I learned of Trump’s first election and gravely disappointed by the second one. But the sheer brutality of what’s happening in MN right now has really thrown me. I have friends and family there, in Chicago (where ICE raids were occurring in the autumn), in NY, and in California. I’m hearing that even worse things are happening in the Deep South but fewer observers and press to report on it. Posting here because I feel so lost.

CNN? Why would we watch that.

why are you sticking up for a rapist, child abuser?

Genuine questions for those supporting ICE:

Is there anything an ICE agent could do that you’d consider unacceptable or too far?

Is there any treatment you consider excessive for someone who has overstayed or not got the correct papers? Being ‘illegal’ seems to be trotted out as a justification for anything.

Do you have no empathy for people who feel so concerned about ICE’s actions that they feel morally compelled attempt to intervene? Surely even if you don’t agree, it’s obvious that the level of brutality being meted out to protesters is excessive?

They really don’t. The word “illegal” carries all the mediaeval connotations of the word “outlaw”. They aren’t human and they aren’t covered by the law, so they are fair game for extrajudicial killing and every other flavour of brutality. It would be fascinating if it weren’t so utterly abhorrent.

Every news outlet I checked is reporting the 9mm pistol. Time will tell what the facts are, but it’s unlikely they all just made it up.

He had a permit to carry, watch the video footage and tell us where and when he was brandishing it.

What he was seen holding was a camera.

What the hell are you talking about? 🤣 you need to spend less time online.

Let us know when you’ve started your thread, we should talk about it over there 😊

And, by the way… You do know that what we are standing up for here is often people’s rights to claim asylum in the US without being detained or shot and killed? You know, people from countries where wars are ongoing?

Edited

Ah here we go misdirection 101 on your first sentence.
Are you American because if not , you seem to be trying to dictate what another country does in regard to who it allows into its country.
And on that point people from wars are ongoing you say, or economic migrants, and drug dealers, murderers and rapists.

He was brandishing a 9mm semiautomatic pistol as he approached them, and refused to put it down. That sounds pretty threatening to me.

He wasn't.

The ICE terrorists pushed a woman down, he went to help her and got pepper sprayed, then he gets pulled of the woman and wrestled to the ground by 7 ICE terrorists, once on the ground he gets assaulted and then shot several times.

I'm sure there will be statements coming out to defend these power hungry murderers shooting a nurse trying to help a woman who was assaulted, but I would rather believe my own eyes.

Why? Trump makes shit up all the time and then gets others to make shit up too. Karoline Leavitt and the Greenland/Iceland debacle being a very recent obvious example.

Why on earth would it surprise you when it literally happens every single day.

You would think the age of camera phones and social media would be their worst nightmare but it seems these people will just believe whatever he says even when the evidence is irrefutable.

StuffyHuffyPuffy · 24/01/2026 22:04

ICE sounds like a great Org to work for if you wanna act upon some dark, forbidden thoughts and curiosities. The person(s) who chose to shoot the gun, when the man was already overpowered, knew what they were doing, and that they will likely get away with it.

Anyone who agrees with their methods deserves no law protections anywhere, ever. Even jungle justice is more civil!

SapphireSeptember · 24/01/2026 22:04

DopeyS · 24/01/2026 20:37

You and all the other pathetic people on here defending the ice agents are horrendous. I watched the video. I watched a man, face down on the floor after attempting to help a woman up who had been pepper sprayed.
Prior to this he stood there filming them. That is not illegal. If he had a gun, it is permitted in that state. He did not reach for his gun as he had a man kneeling on his bank and four (at least people around him). He was hit in the face multiple times with a gun and then was shot 10 times.

Maybe all you people desperately trying to justify the murder of someone in the street need to think about why you're so desperate to pretend these ice agents are doing good?

Funny how all the people who you idolise and hang off their every words about how 'immigrants are bad' 'foreigners are bad'. All seem to have immigrant or foreign ancestry partners.

Do as I say, not as I do and you lap it up. They won't protect you, they don't care about you. They care about themselves and if you happened to be walking by, involved or not. You wouldn't get the pat on the back you so hope for, you'd probably get exactly what those other people have got. They look down on you and think they're better than you.

I mean, unless these Americans posting shite are 100% Native American, then they have ancestors who were immigrants! (Or invaders, depending on how far back their family history goes.)

Nabannas · 24/01/2026 22:04

Why do they tell blatant lies when they know that there are dozens of high definition cameras filming from different angles?

I don’t understand what the purpose of that is?

I’m guessing that it’s in some way connected to Goebbels Big Lie technique, but in the 1930s it came down to choosing between two versions without the means to verify.

I feel that I’m failing to grasp something obvious in the psychology of this.

I can see how words like “truth” and “fact” have been appropriated and are used to mean something quite different than the common understanding.

But still this blatant insistence on claiming one thing happened when the world can see with their own eyes it didn’t? It makes no sense.

Even if a small number of people are genuinely confused into believing what they’re told despite what they can see, how does it work for the majority?

Is it that it’s so blatant, it shifts our tolerance, or something?

Why have you linked to a news article that doesn’t support anything you are saying?

Are you hoping people just won’t bother to read it and will assume it supports your statement?

ThejoyofNC · 24/01/2026 19:12

I haven't heard about a second one but the first woman wasn't murdered.

So how do you describe being shot in the head 3 times as she drove away from the ICE person who then called her a "fucking bitch" after he'd killed her? I guess you also believe the Trump nonsense about him being run over and having to go to hospital

ShowMeTheSea · 24/01/2026 22:06

IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken · 24/01/2026 21:21

Um it does seem that “whataboutery “ is a useful phrase to pull out when people can’t justify the hypocrisy.
One person gets shot and killed in America people lose their shit.
Many tens of thousands are shot and killed in Iran very little said.
Whats that other useful phrase “people can be concerned by more than one thing at once.”

Nobody is justifying the hypocrisy though.
There's been threads on what's happening in other places too.
People can be equally horrified by both.
When it comes to America though, people are maybe rightly or wrongly commenting on that more.
As you don't expect this kind of dictatorship from America.

I think it’s because a lot of people won’t even bother to look. They will just repeat the lies.

StuffyHuffyPuffy · 24/01/2026 22:07

"Why do they tell blatant lies when they know that there are dozens of high definition cameras filming from different angles?"

I guess that's why they immediately acted like a pack of rats and tried wrestling cameras out of people's hands. They are so unbelievably stupid, it's beyond fiction at this point.

Well, I wish you would have posted this as Politics, instead of the general Chat, and maybe included a link.
To the best of my knowledge, nothing yet is really known about this, so I've refrained from posting about it. Of course the South has always been brutal, but what's finally, finally catching people's attention is that it's including middle-class white people.

GCSEBiostruggles · 24/01/2026 22:09

It is funny though, why don't we expect it from them? They voted in a known felon, child rapist, womaniser, who also failed at running his own business. Over a qualified woman.

I feel for the people who are stuck there, but am surprised more haven't emigrated since Trump got in. Women are leaving for other countries the fastest, but anyone can see where this has been going for the last year at least. I am surprised at the surprise really.

Lifeomars · 24/01/2026 22:09

I was appalled to read about the 5 year old boy removed from his pre-school class by ICE agents, taken to his home and then he and his father were removed to Mexico. A 5 year old child ffs! if you can countenance that then you have no soul.

I know!!! I don’t understand it

i just saw a photo of the guy before he was killed and he is holding a phone!

the ICE people have issued a picture of the gun he was ‘carrying’ doesn’t look anything like a sodding phone

Disgusting disgraceful murder. Horrible.

I don't want to write anything else but for all of the minimisers and cheerleaders for fascism dragging their disgusting selves onto these boards, my husband's company is US based. His bosses are decent family people who have voted Republican and now carry whistles around their neighbourhood in case they see ICE coming for a two year old.

This murder could be any of them. It could be any decent human being in the presence of evil. That's what you have done to your American friends and neighbours, and I hope you believe in hell so that you know where you're going for it.
