I’m in tears and shock at the brutality happening in broad daylight in the US. I’m a US citizen, emigrated to the UK for family reasons 12 years ago (now dual citizen), and I am just in disbelief at what’s happening. I was sick when I learned of Trump’s first election and gravely disappointed by the second one. But the sheer brutality of what’s happening in MN right now has really thrown me. I have friends and family there, in Chicago (where ICE raids were occurring in the autumn), in NY, and in California. I’m hearing that even worse things are happening in the Deep South but fewer observers and press to report on it. Posting here because I feel so lost.

When an ice agent violently pushed a woman to the ground, he was trying to help her up when they all jumped on him.
You can then see an ice agent take the guys (legal to carry) gun out of its holster and walking off with it. That's when the shooting starts.
The guy was on the floor, face in the ice, arms behind his back when he's shot

I did actually believe a bot was a person paid to misdirect but upon enquiring with Goggle it’s some sort of AI typing like a human.
Alas I’m not getting paid, nor am I a bot, I’m not Maga or American but fascinated by people’s political and social standing, especially the hypocrisy.

By deleting the post you have suggested to posters reading this thread that this was an exchange that was abusive, rather than the individual poster who has tried to - and now thanks to your action, succeeded in - derailing the thread.

Agree. People listen to what they are 'told' is the truth because it is what they 'want' to be the truth. So they can repeat it as truth.

They do not want to believe their own eyes.

Here's the thing, for many of them it is easier to believe that their country's money troubles and violence are due to immigrants.

Easy solution, get rid of all the immigrants and ta da their country will be wealthier and safer, and therefore they will be wealthier and safer.

Deep down they know this is false, but they want someone to blame, and here are some easy (and easily spotted) targets.

And hey, their President says so! So they get to take that rage that they don't 'have it all' on someone else.

I've seen a clip where the officers are searching his body and you can hear 'where's the gun, where's the gun' being shouted. Other clips suggest that the guy in the grey/light brown jacket removed a gun from Pretti before shots were fired.

A DHS statement claimed “an individual approached US Border Patrol officers” with “a handgun” in the Alex Pretti shooting incident. A Bellingcat analysis of the footage appears to show that a gun was taken away from where Pretti was situated by an agent just before the first shot was fired.

These videos show exactly what happened, some in slow motion. He had a gun on his person that he had a permit for in a state that allowed him to carry it.

It. was. never. in. his. hands..

At one point you can see both his hands on the pavement. They take his gun off his person, NOT out of his hands. An agent runs off with it. It is clearly shown.

Then they shoot him.

She was. An autopsy showed the killing shot went through the side of her head. The ICE agent was stood to the side of her and was in no personal danger.

Even if you were in danger from someone driving towards you - how does it make sense to shoot them, rather than get out the way? Doesn't it make you and others more likely to get run over?

@JennyForeigner it's like being in an alternate universe at times. I hardly ever seem to see one of the posters that support Trump and ICE have their comments deleted, even with the horrendous misinformation and pro-violence rhetoric they repeat. I think perhaps it's because we just keep refuting their posts with actual facts, rather than reporting them.

I'm ok with their posts not being deleted - in the sense that I think it's important for normal people to see what the supporters of this actually say - the misinformation, the violent rhetoric, the pure callousness - looking into the abyss at times - and to see our factual responses. But still, god, it makes me feel like I need to take multiple showers a day. It's a bit rich when one of our posts get deleted though, I mean...

Can also add the man killed by guards at an ICE detention centre. It was called in to 911 as a suicide by hanging but the post mortem revealed asphyxiation by chest and neck compression.
