Math, your 105 F heat dome is headed for us tomorrow and will be around for at least a few days. We're now under an extreme heat warning. I'm glad you put on the AC. This kind of heat can be really debilitating.
Sunday was DH's and my 29th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, my uncle passed away recently, and we spent the day traveling to central Massachusetts and back for the memorial service. It was about 320 miles round trip, so that was most of the day in the car. DS also attended, but he went to Boston first to see some of his uni friends, then met us at the service. We hit a lot of traffic going up, but almost none coming home, and got home around 8:00. They did offer dinner at a local restaurant after the service, but if we had stayed, it would have taken hours to finish as they had so many people to serve. It was nice to see family members I don't see very often, some of whom came in from California.
Yesterday was nice here, so we went to the town pool for a few hours, which was lovely. School is out now, and the town runs a summer day camp. They do various activities in the morning, then take the kids to the pool in the afternoon, so there were loads of kids there for the last hour or so we were there. Our kids went to the same camp, and it's very well run and supervised, so the kids were no trouble.
I'm currently taking a course of prednisone to deal with a flare-up of a chronic GI condition. It's working well, but is causing terrible insomnia, as it always does. I saw my gastroenterologist in May for a colonoscopy, and he mentioned that his practice recently added a specialist who treats my condition, and that I should feel free to switch to him. I love my gastroenterologist, and have been with him for over 20 years, and I was asymptomatic at the time, so I told him I'd keep it in mind, but didn't see the need to switch now. Now that it's a problem again, I called to try to get an appointment with the new bloke and was told he didn't have any openings until the end of August. I had a word with my old gastro and got a call yesterday offering me the choice between two appointments next Monday with the new specialist.
I don't think we're going to go out to see the fireworks on Independence Day, despite the 250th anniversary. It's going to be too hot.
