SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 17/04/2026 11:42

Hi all- hope everyone is well and fine. Thanks Hope so much poor SpiritDoggo is 100% better. Thanks

Not much news here-Ive been unwell this week so not online much but much better now and back to normal. I've made smug soup (curried sweet potato and vegetable) and the Dcs will have chicken burgers.

I'm taking advantage of a quiet house to watch Apollo 13. DH is home for the weekend later and there is nothing really for me to be getting on with so being self indulgent!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/04/2026 16:45

Sorry you've had a rough week Lobelia.
You soup and movie plan sounds like a solid plan. 🩷

I'm up before dc all having had a late night. I had a class last night and kids were still awake when I got home. So, rather than fight it, I made a pot of oatmeal with cinnamon and chopped up an apple for it and scooped up a bowl for them. Happy tummies and all. 😊
I hadn't had dinner so I made a nice salad (cucumber, tomato, bell pepper, feta, bit of apple, evoo&lemon juice) and added the last of the rotisserie chicken.
I've got laundry on, just made an iced latte and put a chat show on tv. I'm going to enjoy 20 peaceful minutes 🤞 before I need to get the kids up as Havoc has an activity this morning.

Peridot1 · 17/04/2026 17:28

Hope you are feeling better @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia.

Yesterday I washed all the bedding from the bed I stripped, dusted and vacuumed the bedroom. Even moved the bedside tables and did behind them. Next time I need to empty and clean the bookcase and behind that as it’s pretty dusty. Did some gardening - prepped one bed in the side garden. Not too sure what else I achieved! Definitely didn’t clean a light over the island unit…..

Today I had to take DH to the dentist as he has a cracked tooth. And is totally and utterly terrified of dentists. Hence not having been for at least 25 years……. Tooth needs to come out so another appointment tomorrow for a consultation with the guy who does that. It’s the same dentists I went to last year for all my dental stuff. So that’s more money they will get from us! 😩

Did a few loads of laundry today. Prepped another bed in the garden. Swept the hallway after the decorator left. Can’t vacuum as the floor is covered in plastic.

Happy Friday everyone.

WideOpenBeaches · 17/04/2026 23:16

Apologies…I’ve not been here much at all recently. Looks like it was before Easter!
I’ve had a quick skim through about 80 messages but have probably missed a lot of details in the mix.

Hope you’re all hanging in there.

I’ve had 2 friends lose a parent recently so I’ve been very aware of my stuff in the house and how to reduce it a bit more.

I’m quite a ‘compact’ thinker on clothes. I know what colours and shapes suit me and I’ve had some massive clear outs post divorce, ditching lots of black tie wear and shoes I can no longer wear.

However the garage is a huge dumping ground for me, and I have projects lined up that would take me years to complete!

I may make myself accountable and list them…

RunningKatie · 18/04/2026 21:15

Somehow it's Saturday evening already.
I'm supposed to be doing an online food shop, I've already changed the bathroom towels, cleared up the kitchen and removed a spider from a wardrobe door.
Tomorrow we are off to visit MIL, hoping it'll be dry so we can walk to the old phone box that's now a library at the other end of her village. I've got a bag of books in the car in anticipation!
I've also ordered myself a summer skirt in anticipation of a summer.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 19/04/2026 08:45

Hi all- thanks @Peridot1 I'm back to normal now. Not sure if that means I am 'better' though Grin

@Peridot1 you had a bad case of moths earlier this year do I remember right? We have a current case that seems to have exploded only over a couple of days!!!!! Last night I sprayed everything with fly spray which is what i had to hand but am off to get something more targeted today.

Hope everyone is well and fine. It's a sunny day here!

Thanks to all

WinterFrogs · 19/04/2026 09:24

Hi all and lovely to 'see' you again @WideOpenBeaches 👋
I'm off out now so just a quick check in. Glad you are feeling better @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia .
Glorious day here today. Loving the sunshine combined with warmth rather than heat. Perfect for the likes of me who is a winter person at heart ( except mud, can do without that and so can my knees)

WideOpenBeaches · 19/04/2026 11:36

Thanks @WinterFrogs 🥰
We have bright blue sky but the wind is still cold here.

Ive just cleaned my patio with this great stuff called Wet n Forget. Saves dismantling the grout between the slabs with the pressure washer, and you mix it up and water it all over with your watering can.

Jobs a good ‘un.

Just off out for a few hours so it can dry, then I can come back and pot up my mini geraniums.

Peridot1 · 19/04/2026 11:59

Glad you are better if not normal @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia! Normal is highly overrated I think.

Yes we had moths. Still have. I bought moth traps on Amazon and have them in every room. Some are better than others. I will find the ones I found best and link them. Last week I used moth bombs in four bedrooms. It’s definitely made a difference. Am about to buy more as still finding some in my walk in wardrobe. I also have things to put in drawers and hang in wardrobes although not convinced they are particularly effective.

@WideOpenBeaches - welcome back. I’m pretty good with house clutter but our garage is a disaster area. I’m blaming DH. I do want to tackle it this year.

Our neighbours recommended Wet and Forget too and DH tried it here. Seems good. We have a huge patio and it takes ages to power wash. And we lose grout every time. So the Wet & Forget is definitely safer.

Today’s tasks are to change my bed. I’ve stripped it and the mattress protector and pillow protectors are in the washing machine. Will hang them out in a bit as it’s lovely here today. Only other plans are gardening. Two more beds to prep and then I can plant. Might get DH to help me prep the beds as I’d really like to get it all finished ASAP. We have lots to do on the patio as it’s a mess so I want to move on to that. We are now hosting a village bbq mid June for around 60/70 people so the garden needs to look good.

Have a great Sunday all.

Peridot1 · 19/04/2026 14:52

Sorry about the crappy link!

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 19/04/2026 15:39

Thank you so much @Peridot1 I really appreciate that and have just ordered it.

The moths seem to have come from nowhere! It currently SEEMS to be mainly in one room. But the year before last (I posted about it on our thread) we got new carpets so we are desperate to sort it asap!

[It was funny, DH said 'ask MN if anyone has experience with moths!'. I said 'My MN buddy Peridot has!!!'.].

Thanks
Peridot1 · 19/04/2026 16:59

No problem @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia. The most effective thing we found is the moth smoke bombs. I wish I’d used them earlier really.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/04/2026 17:04

Good morning all. 🥱😊
9:00am here.
laundry is on and I've folded/put away dry clothes.
2nd latte.

Daily Project Round 9
SingleThreadJoiner2 · 19/04/2026 21:06

It looks very professional @Mumtobabyhavoc !

Enjoyed a chilled and not very productive weekend, lots of playtime with D, my parents arrived last night, sorted out a dress for a September wedding today, have outsourced some of the cooking.

Had asparagus today, was hopeful because I'd got UK grown ones, but they were completely tasteless. My softboiled eggs were perfect though 😁

Gearing up for the week ahead - two days onsite Tues/Weds, so staying overnight - rather looking forward to some time alone!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/04/2026 23:36

Why, Thank You!
I'm quite proud of my skills. 😁

Taxes filed!!! 😁

SpiritOfEdna · 20/04/2026 13:32

morning. I am obsessively checking my payslip online, even though it will not be there till Wednesday at the earliest

  • started and abandoned checking that all CDs are in the right cases - I have no idea why I keep them - nowhere to play them bar the car 😄I need to go and finish that task and not get distracted by ooh lovely music I must listen to that..... - DONE
  • I found my debit card, big lottery win here I come :(fingers crossed)
  • another foray into the loft - we've borrowed a higher ladder so I can see possibilities for other stuff in the house I can't currently reach We found a diary up there, an ancient barbie and some kens and a very old computer - we thought we had seen the back of the previous owners!! Obviously not, this has to be it!
  • chase a refund on a subscription that I do not remember taking out. £50 quid for access to puzzles 😄they tried to flog me a half price offer. - DONE
  • chased the vets for Coco's treatment insurance cover - DONE
  • Find a torch so I can see for myself how the loft is set up - sibling keeps talking about it a small space but it must open out - otherwise there would be no point in moving the loft opening from the bathroom to outside a bedroom
  • I was looking for something on Saturday and I can see open drawers and things hanging out - I need to close them all neatly as I can see them in my peripheral vision 😄- DONE that really was annoying me
  • Car needs fuel - I was hoping to get away with it till pay day
  • .See if the car rack we found in the loft goes on my car
  • book car in garage AGAIN - brake fluid warning light keeps coming on, when I check there it is full. One of the sensors must be damaged but they were all fixed with the previous ordeal with the car.
I'll be happy if I get the remainder of that list done, have a good day, SoE

Sitting in the evening sunshine at dc2's activity this evening. Need to send the bathroom measurements and photos to the designer. I'm not sure he's prepared for its 1980's shell tiles etc!
We've had a massive declutter at work prior to a relocation, sort of makes me want to do the same at home, but has also exhausted me. I've had way too much chocolate today and not enough water.
The loft sounds very intruiging @SpiritOfEdna - dh has just been telling me the bathroom juts into a bedroom but not where I thought it did, I'm so confused.
That is a fancy looking latte @Mumtobabyhavoc

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/04/2026 19:27

We're in parallel lives, Katie. I'm just home from Baby's swim lesson. It's parent participation, so, of course I feel like I've had a workout (I haven't), had a lovely salad when I got home and am now sipping an iced latte. Havoc is watching Number Blocks and Baby is crashed out having fallen asleep on the drive home. Havoc's lesson is this afternoon, but I'll be in the viewing area for that.

It is bloody glorious here today: 18c and some very high streaky clouds.

WinterFrogs · 21/04/2026 17:44

Quick fly by so say hello! Lots going on here and have run out of spoons for posting. Though I was mighty this morning and got Wordle in two (fluke/lucky guess)
House is presentable-decluttered the under stairs cupboard today.
Best wishes to al!

RunningKatie · 22/04/2026 15:44

Afternoon, my head hurts from wearing headphones where they squash my glasses, I am so ready to log off today.
Prescription dropped to GP, dog to vets soon, then dh and I are off to bathroom showroom.
Washing out on line again, it's very blustery but also quite cool out. Not time for big coats to be packed away just yet.
Feel like when the sun is out I make progress but the grey days just slow me down at the moment.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/04/2026 16:55

Just enjoying latte #2 here, iced. It's a grey day and 11c. ☁️
We all had fairly decent sleep last night, so I was motivated to pop laundry in after brushing my teeth. Have got a med appt after lunch, so would like to het kids out for a bit soon-ish.

Haven't heard from @autumnangel or @mumofoneAloneandwell for a bit and hoping all is okay, or as okay as can be for the moment. 🩷

WideOpenBeaches · Yesterday 08:26

Those moth traps look the BIZ @Peridot1 I like the fact they’re called PRO. They must mean business!
My attempts to use Amazon a lot less are failing 😆

Your coffees look amazing @Mumtobabyhavoc. Can I pop over?

A lot of yesterday revolved around the DA charity. They have appointed me ‘Lead Volunteer ‘ which is not a mantle I’m happy with, but I get to try and organise the other volunteers (see cat herding) into meeting up once a month. We all work remotely so it’s good to meet up, have a moan about the slightly haphazard communication system within the charity (not helped by complicated encryption systems they understandably have ) and swap ideas as to what to do with our clients for as little cost as possible.

In an effort to find a central location for a coffee shop, I found a community shop and cafe with easy parking so a few of us went on a recce yesterday morning. It was a lovely spot and fits the bill so job done.

The charity holds lunchtime talks from outside agencies and the local Victim Liaison Officers came in to talk about what they do. Trouble is, most of the outreach workers have a good background knowledge and us lowly volunteers are starting from scratch so I’m not sure I garnered the full story.

I certainly learned about tagging perpetrators, setting up exclusion zones around victims, and prison release dates are never set in stone. Ho hum,,,

Today I have a quiet day, so I’m going to potter in the garden and go through my enormous recipe ring file. Last time I did it must have been 6-8 years ago. There are print outs, ripped out bits of magazines etc. It's utter chaos.

There are a mountain of other really important jobs I should be doing, but Procrastination is my middle name, 😂

The sun is shining here today so I hope it is for you all
