Liege waffles and a fruit and berry plate here.
(and and iced latte for me)
We're all on the couch and the kids are surprisingly quiet and watching Mutual Of Omaha's Wild Kingdom about armadillos. I think this show is from the 1960's. I might have to Google it.

Have got towels on a long wash. Garbage is tied up and needs to be taken out. Filed some paper mail yesterday. Still need to get taxes together. 🙄😵‍💫

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/04/2026 18:04

Thought it looked a bit staged and had just said same to my mum. 🕵️

RunningKatie · 12/04/2026 18:34

I have been dragged to see the Super Mario movie, all I can say is thank heavens it's only 1hr38 long.
Back to school tomorrow, I fear it will be a shock to all our systems. 4 weeks and then there's another bank holiday, phew.
We've had all the weathers today, sun, rain and hail. Thankfully not snow!

WinterFrogs · 13/04/2026 07:25

Honestly I'm not sure I can stand the excitement here what with @RunningKatie's new ironing board and @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia's new clothes horse! I need a new washing line as I can see that mine is about to snap. I might go mad and buy a new prop as well as mine no longer extends and is rusty due to being left outside all winter.

Some older programmes do seem so dated now don't they @Mumtobabyhavoc? You've reminded me - I dumped some papers on the dining room table last week and have ignored the room ever since. I must sort it out today.

I hope the day goes smoothly for those going back to school today. The only difference it makes to me is the traffic on the road.

@Peridot1 what made you leave Ireland? University? I still live within ten miles of where I was born, though I spent a couple of years working away. It was a live-in job. Got homesick and went home.

I hope you all have a great day 💕

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 13/04/2026 07:49

Morning all!

I am very excited about my new clothes horse too. Grin

Even better- it's very tall and I have set it up at our front door which has a 3/4 length window so now no-one can see in when they walk past! Grin

I am starting a BUNCH of life admin at 9 am. Once again I am Puttng Things Off.

But first I am making blueberry and banana pancakes - the DCs are back at school tomorrow.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/04/2026 08:35

Still wide awake here at almost 12:30am...🙄
Yes, Winter, some programs are comically, eye-rollingly (?) dated. 😂

Was organizing a shed late afternoon and got something in my eye that I couldn't get out despite flushing it with saline several times, a bath and hair washing (point is lots of water down my face) rubbing it even though I tried not to, was thinking I'd have to call optometrist in the morning to check it when I just lightly and absent-mindedly rubbed it while scrolling and I felt a tiny fleck on my cheek and suddenly my eye now feels fairly okay. 👁️

As for chores... grabbed a bundle of laundry off the top of the pile after dinner and got that washed and hung up which included a couple pairs of runners, so feel that was my extra today. 💁‍♀️

(I think it just started raining)

I could really go for pancakes Lobelia. 😋

Careful with all that excitement Katie et al. 😂

Peridot1 · 13/04/2026 09:50

Hello all.

@WinterFrogs - not university no. Never went. It was recession time in the 80s. I left school in 81 and went straight into office work. Got made redundant or let go from jobs one too many times. Lots of people were leaving to go to Australia or the US. I decided on London. Had a job lined up and somewhere to stay with friends. It wasn’t meant to be forever. But here we are!

I might be able to top your exciting line and prop purchase and the ironing board and clothes horse…… I need a new mop! The glamour!

Was surprised to wake up to frost this morning. Hoping my plants all survived. Sunny now thankfully. About to go for my walk. I should go to the gym but the road is closed between me and it today.

Today’s plan:

  • didhswasher - done, reloaded and on again
  • laundry - on
  • kitchen clean
  • vacuum and wash kitchen floor
  • more planting
  • also want to make carrot and lentil soup

Extra task - lights in kitchen.

Have a good day all.

SpiritOfEdna · 14/04/2026 09:50

hello! My days, what a weekend we had - ended up in an out of hours vets in the early hours of Sunday morning with SpiritDoggo as she was both vomiting and pooping blood quite spectacularly. Hadn't even got to sleep because next door had a party that wasn't super noisy but with a throbbing techno beat and noisy taxis! She is getting better by the day, she had an anti sickness injection and no more blood at either end! She has had a couple of short walks with no off lead malarky. Spent Sunday cleaning up and I even managed to sort out the floor-drobe and had a very early night. Every cloud and all that

Today

  • sorted out vet insurance claim, (10 quid for tablets, 300 for the consult!!!!) but still need to re-file all the dog's stuff - I had to dig out her chip number
  • I am behind on training so need to catch up on that this week, did some last night and will catch up on swimming tonight
  • all the floors were cleaned yesterday so putting chairs back on floors today
  • nip to petsAtHome to get some antiseptic spray and a t-shirt/bandage covering for where the dog was shaved for bloods as she is obsessively licking her leg. I quite stupidly in my tiredness yesterday messaged the vets to see if it was an allergic reaction to her ABs not thinking would the dog really lick off a uniform 3 x .5 inch patch on her leg? They were very kind in their response 😄
  • need to buy some plasters for heel blisters otherwise no running for me today - or I'll be very slow and I am very slow anyway!!!!!
  • need to hang up some clothes (migrated from floor to bed 😃) and sort wardrobe order out.
  • got a work list as long as my arm, so nee to crack on with that
Have a good day, SoE

Peridot1 · 14/04/2026 11:26

Oh poor SpiritDoggo @SpiritOfEdna. Awful when they are ill. And expensive!

Haven’t managed to make my soup yet. Might do that now.

WinterFrogs · 14/04/2026 12:18

Morning! I hope your eye is ok @Mumtobabyhavoc ! Glad you got whatever is was out.

So sorry about your dog @SpiritOfEdna I hope she recovers well 🙏 And i hope you and your bank balance haven't suffered too much.

Do you put washing out at the front @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia ? It's never crossed my mind to do that even though the front catches the sun. No reason why not of course. I'm all delighted as I have sheets out on the line. I'm looking forward to the fresh air scent when they go back on the bed later. And no, I am not going to iron them!

I have plans to make soup today as well @Peridot1. I left school not long after you and did not go to university either. I was a Terrible Disappointment as I went straight into a job, unlike my brothers. But then I produced grandchildren so I redeemed myself. I recently had cause to visit the university that DH went to and I felt very overwhelmed with the sheer size of it and the number of people there. I doubt I'd have coped but every now and again I have regrets. Usually when I get a vet's bill. I rue the lack of salary from what would have been a Proper Job.

Yesterday I did sort the paperwork out that I'd abandoned, and I plan to continue the organisation of the house. I've ended up with a couple of piles of....i don't know what. Bitty things that live in junk drawers ( or fruit bowls if you are like some of us) I just want to bin it but then someone will go on the rampage wondering where their Very Important Thing is. Even though it won't have been used for years.

Does every home have that do we think? 🤔

Right, that soup won't make itself. Have a nice day everyone 😊

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 14/04/2026 16:39

Hi everyone

Finally child is back to school and the holidays are over!

I hope SpiritDoggo continues to be well, what a fright!

Today I have done three (or four? Lost count) loads of laundry, paid an invoice, and arranged for a replacement from World of Books (book sold as "very good condition" had the last sixty pages cut out!!). They were excellent and speedy, I'm pleased to report.

Physio appointment tomorrow morning at 8.30, what was I thinking?!

RunningKatie · 14/04/2026 18:01

Oh gosh, poor SpiritDoggo, that sounds awful. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.
Ddog has been very quiet this past few days, not sure why, he had a lovely time at his holiday home but then sulks a bit when he has to come home to boring old us!
The new ironing board is still a thing of joy @WinterFrogs but it does have a mildly annoying creak that I need to deal with.
Had to have a 5 min micro nap at lunchtime today, my mojo seems to have gone missing.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 15/04/2026 01:34

Lots of detailed posts here, so will just send 🧡 and 💐especially to helpless doggos. 😢

Busy day here. Was given a cancellation appt for trigger point injections, so did that, took Havoc and stopped at playground for a good hour in the rain. Threw some laundry in once home. Cooked up a bunch of gyoza for lunch and made some hot chocolate for the kids. I've got left over salmon/prawns, wild rice and corn on the cob for them, but I need a Costco run. I didn't get my lattes today because I'm out of milk. 😢 Managed to book Havoc's pre-K vaccinations, pay 1/2 of a bill that somehow dropped off autopay and call bank and re-set online access.

Just provided first aid to Havoc after Baby bit Havoc's arm. 😫

WinterFrogs · 15/04/2026 11:04

Good to hear that they were prompt with your replacement book @SingleThreadJoiner2 I like world books though I do not need any more books at the moment! I have access to hundreds but still get tempted occasionally.

I am on an economy drive so it's all about waste not want not round these parts. My soup was magnificent yesterday, and I put lentils in it as a nod to you, @Peridot1 We are going to have what's left of it for dinner with pasta, as it's a chunky one.

I don't have to be anywhere today so I am doing household tasks in bite sized chunks. I've achieved a fair bit already.

Here is a screenshot of tasks from my app today. I plan to tick off a few

Daily Project Round 9
WinterFrogs · 15/04/2026 11:06

Oh my @Mumtobabyhavoc who'd have small children, honestly! Hope everyone is ok and peace is restored!

Have a good day everyone!

Peridot1 · 15/04/2026 11:56

Morning all. Just.

I made my soup yesterday. Can’t say it was magnificent but it was fine. Have four more portions so have frozen two and I’ll have some today and tomorrow. It’s definitely a soup day today here too weather wise. Although have just been out for a lovely walk in misty rain off and on.

Yesterday I dug over a small bed in the new side garden and planted it. Managed to hurt my back again lifting a bag of grit. Have a chiropractor appointment for next week. Although painter is here today and is singing praises of an osteopath locally so might try that.

Today’s list:

  • laundry - done
  • tidy utility room which is a mess
  • count up electrical sockets and light switches to order new ones
  • do ironing - it’s a very small pile but has been hanging around for ages

Not sure what else will be done. I find having the painter here distracting. Only ten days to go…..

have a great day all.

WinterFrogs · 15/04/2026 12:31

I'm back with another coffee @Peridot1 and I feel your pain, having the painter in. Home doesn't feel like a haven with strangers in it, does it?

I really like people on the whole but I prefer them not in my house. I loved it when the children were small. There were always people in and out then, but less so these days (family and proper old friends excepted) I like meeting people out, and my work requires a lot of small talk too. So I go home for respite 😎

My laundry area definitely needs babysteps. It's a shed, basically, so all sorts of clutter has gathered. I have an 'I don't know where to start' feeling about it. Experience has shown that doing throw away, give away and keep piles will be a good start. I've cleaned the machines though. This is why I have sat down again. But I did give the bathroom the once over first.

@Peridot1 the soup was magnificent only because I followed an actual recipe. Usually I just do bog standard smug soup with what looks like it needs using up.

SpiritOfEdna · 15/04/2026 13:37

Morning, good day here; SpiritDoggo is on the mend, still no long walks but all good on the doggo front.
Today:

  • may be the day I finally finish faffing around doing touch ups of a paint-by-numbers of said SpiritDoggo. I've asked that I never get another birthday present like it !!!
  • Am in a chucking out mood - might take a look at my wardrobe and see what can go - although I am having pangs of love lost for some old items of clothes I've long chucked. A long grey pure wool lined skirt, a second hand black silk shift dress, fitted short sleeves, with a devore overlay. A very plain black wool coat with pockets and a peter pan collar. I think I am just missing quality fabrics - the skirt was the Gap, the coat Top Shop! I just know I am going to be online this afternoon looking for the skirt fabric!!!! or do-overs!
And am back after looking at long grey skirts 😄
  • Sent sibling to a supermarket so will have to pick them up in a bit
  • found keys after searching high and low today - they were in the washing machine! they are all clean and shiny - a job I didn't know needed doing -cleaning house keys!
  • I've accumulated a pile of rubbish on my desk/pockets that needs to go in the bin.
  • and dishes on my desk
  • the floors are looking manky again, so sweep and clean the floors
Right, I have procrastinated long enough, have a great day, SoE

Mumtobabyhavoc · 15/04/2026 16:01

Winter, does that app randomly give you tasks, or is that a list you made?

Baby's bite did break Havoc's skin. Red, but no blood. So we held a cold pack on it. I'll check it today. I asked baby, Why? And the answer was because Havoc wouldn't get back. Baby did show concern after as there were lots of very real tears from Havoc.
They were friends again later on. 😅

I'm so tired, but need to get up. We'll be taking my mum to a med appt this afternoon and I've got to make a stop for another bill payment. Need to do some admin that I wanted done yesterday. Ugh.

WinterFrogs · 16/04/2026 08:20

Your post amused me @SpiritOfEdna ! I am glad SpiritDoggo is feeling better 😊
@Mumtobabyhavoc Those tasks were on the app already but there's also room to add your own.

Poor old Havoc and Baby. We can't have biting of course but we all know how horrid it is when someone won't get back. Bless them both and poor fraught mum 💕

I did a lot yesterday and my laundry area/shed is cleaner and cobweb free ( almost) I'm doing my horse work this morning and I am so relieved that the mud has dried up. It was playing havoc with my knees!

I read about the dissolving caterpillar decluttering technique and it resonated with me. That approach is certainly starting to work for me ( not that I realised I was doing it) Buf here's the link if anyone is interested

https://www.idealhome.co.uk/house-manual/storage-organisation-decluttering/dissolving-caterpillar-decluttering-method

White panelled living room with wooden parquet flooring and a fluffy rug in the centre

I’m rethinking my relationship with clutter – and the dissolving caterpillar method is the mindful approach I needed

If you want to declutter gently and make lasting changes, this slow and steady method might be for you

Peridot1 · 16/04/2026 10:42

Good morning all.

Hope Havoc is ok @Mumtobabyhavoc. Naughty Baby!

Liked your extra task of washing your house keys @SpiritOfEdna!

Just back from my walk. Nice dry one today. Dishwasher done. A bed stripped and mattress and pillow protectors in the washing machine. Going to dust and vacuum the bedroom in a bit. Still need to count electrical switches and sockets. Need to wash kitchen floor. And tidy utility room.

Extra task will be to wash at least one of the lights over the island unit in the kitchen.

@WinterFrogs - will check out the dissolving caterpillar theory. Sounds interesting.

Have a good day all.

SpiritOfEdna · 16/04/2026 12:24

Morning. My boss has just moaned at length about the state of a replacement laptop he has been sent - smells of smoke, has got toast crumbs everywhere is just all round disgusting. So I've just cleaned my laptop! No smoke, but maybe greasy finger marks on the most used keys and guilty on the toast crumbs....

I asked ChatGPT yesterday about Wordle performance and what that says about ability and it suggested an immediate improvement on my usual tactic of using a word with 4 vowels ("safe, but inefficient") and suggested an alternative route with consonants and gave a couple of starter word suggestions. I tried it today, drumroll, it took me six goes. I once read someone on here had a 1000 day streak and I have never felt so envious in all my life.

Today

  • laptop clean (still looks used, but it's loads better)
  • debit card has gone awol, but it'll be in a pocket somewhere. Must find
  • change my booking.com passwords due to the hack. Although if someone wants to find a pet friendly accommodation in the dead of winter they can fill their boots!
  • Am prepping for a big meeting this afternoon, but am procrastinating here when that is done:
  • bathroom needs a good scrub as do I
  • finance admin
  • new trainers arriving today so awaiting the sound of a knock on the door. Hoping they make me run faster...
  • make sure gym kit is clean for refpilates later
  • we've just had some keys cut for front door as we could only find one of 6 the other day. We have now found 3 of the 5 missing ones + 2 new keys. (Please don't mention a safe place - that changes every day, and not my fruit bowl). So the goal is to hunt down all the other keys...We know have 8 keys to lose, which we will, no doubt..
It's such a paltry little list to do today, but at least it's there in black and white, have a good day, SoE.

Hello hello

Not sure when I was last around these parts, but amongst a gruelling work week (deadline for something first thing tomorrow morning so basically tonight, it's taken up the majority of my time since easter) there has been a remarkably long list of Things Done:

  • lots of laundry
  • labouring to remove ketchup stains from a beloved t shirt of D's
  • paying of various invoices
  • disposing of various items on Olio and WhatsApp groups
  • attending the early morning physio
  • starting to plan for holiday clubs
  • taking paint testers to parents' flat and applying several examples to walls
  • collapsing.

Also in smug eating, H made an excellent daal last night, I had leftovers for lunch today with added spinach for added smugness 😇

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/04/2026 19:18

I. Love. Daal. 😋
