A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. It is very weird atm. I'm relying on Omid Djilali rn as nothing else seems rooted in reality.
There's an awful story on the front of the times today about a Jewish Labour MP being banned from visiting a school in his constituency by pro-pal teachers. A decision backed by the NEU!

http://archive.today/R28Cc

I think they were pushing for that decision. It’s so bad isn’t it.

Even worse then if the NEU actually orchestrated it. Its revolting.

I saw that the MP was banned. Wtf teachers are there to educate not indoctrinate. The head needs to grow a pair.

More than that. The head needs to be called up on it. We cannot have the NHS, Police, and teachers decide who gets fair treatment and who they are allowed to discriminate against.

Yvette Coopee has summoned the Iranian Ambassador. He must be shaking in his shoes……

"It has been a reliable barometer of political intention since it first started polling its members in 2009.
Which is bad news for Keir Starmer. Because last week, a survey of more than 1,000 Mumsnet users indicated a major shift on the once famously Left-leaning site. Support for Labour has plummeted from 41 per cent in 2024 to 18 per cent, according to the poll, which was conducted in the second half of last year.
The survey showed that nearly a quarter of Mumsnet women – often politically engaged and willing to take no prisoners when it comes to debate – are now politically homeless. “Undecideds” have shot up from 8 per cent to 23 per cent.
But there is another more surprising surge – 20 per cent of its users intend to vote Reform, up from 14 per cent and the first time that Labour has been usurped by any party in the poll."

The quiet Mumsnet revolution that could help Reform into power

New data shows a fifth of women on the Left-leaning site support Nigel Farage, but fears of a backlash mean they’re keeping quiet

I’m going to have to jump in on this one

He wasnt banned because he was Jewish

He was banned because he has shown support for Israel’s actions in Gaza. He has visited Israel and shown his support openly for what they are doing

Denying him a visit isn’t antisemitism
Just because he is Jewish does not make it automatically so

This isn’t the case either. The event was postponed because it was deemed unsafe to go ahead due to the protestors.

The Pro Pal 'activists' started organising a demonstration against Israel on 7th October 2023: as the massacre was still unfolding, before Israel had made any response.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/hours-after-hamas-invaded-on-oct-7-uk-anti-israel-group-began-planning-mass-protest/

The entire movement is based in anti-semitism.

He was banned for being Jewish.

Just like all the other attacks on Jews - in the UK and in Israel - are because the victims are Jewish.

And? People are allowed to support Israel's response to the 7 October attacks. I do.

It’s not about 2023 though
Its about his support much much more recently

Shame The Times doesn't mention the real revolution on MN is to "who the fuck do we vote for".

That’s even worse! He’s a Jewish man banned for expressing support for the sole Jewish state and homeland!

The HT has said they are in contact with the MP and the police for advice on how to run it. Hopefully it will go ahead once that is done.

He is going to discuss the role of an MP and democracy, nothing to do with his views on Israel. He should have that ability. It shouldn’t be Jewish people forced not to participate in events because others make it unsafe.

This is a CEM thread discussion really

But
You can show support for Israel as a state without showing support for Netanyahus actions in Gaza
You may say they are the same but they are absolutely not

Can we, for the purposes of unity on this thread, not operate on the assumption that everyone has to think a particular way on the Gaza issue, including in 2026?

EasternStandard · 13/01/2026 16:25

This is a depressing issue that an elected Jewish MP is not safe enough to participate in the event imo

To put it in, I hope, uncontroversial terms, there’s a perfectly good argument for Israel’s actions in Gaza and that responsibility for the death and misery is borne by Hamas (and Iran).

I understand of course that views differ, but this is not a subject for which anyone holding pro-Israeli views is a pariah, like being a convicted criminal or a holocaust denier.

EasternStandard · 13/01/2026 16:37

Well done to the women who were brave in the Telegraph article on voting, kudos for being open despite backlash 😀

EmeraldRoulette · 13/01/2026 16:59

I just realised one of my last posts had a typo in it - I mean, I think there's a risk of Starlink satellites being shot down, not shut down!

Horrified about this story with the Jewish MP and the school. People are allowed to have their opinions. And part of the school's job should be teaching acceptance of that surely? Not sure where the coverage is getting the term "inflame"from but I'm starting to think some seriously weird shit is doing the rounds.

Was it @justasking111 who said about the Israeli restaurant being targeted in London? I'm wondering if that's the same one that happened at the weekend - that's in Notting Hill. I really hope it's not another one. That was bad enough.

on a more humorous note, I saw Omid Dajlli - sorry for spelling (if I navigate away from MN it crashes 😱 and I can barely scroll it at the moment). I was with a group. He must've been very early in his career because it was one of those East London comedy clubs. He was picking out people from the audience genuinely, I mean we had no warning. He decided that my friend looked like a pimp and that I was going to be the random woman in the audience that he was madly in love with! He made it work, it was pretty funny - he gave both of us our own storyline. Guy being the pimp was hugely amused, his girlfriend also found it hilarious. We might have had a few drinks 😂

But he came to us in the bar afterwards and said "I really hope that was okay, you seemed to be happy to go along with it". I didn't think too much about it at the time. I definitely wouldn't be comfortable if somebody did that now. But this was maybe 25 years ago. I think now everyone asked permission before they make the audience part of their act?
