A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

That's pretty low too!

Andy Burnham, may 'sneak' through a By-Election in Gorton and Denton according to Electoral Calculus, Nowcast: Labour on about 29% Greens on 26% and Reform on 25%. This, is true Labour territory and all they can get is 29% and depending on some 'Green Voters' to get the long time and 'Loved' Mayor of Greater Manchester back in to Parliament. By contrast Angela Raynor in the neighboring Constituency of Ashton-Under- Lyne has zero chance with Reform around 41% and Labour 23%. Apparently Labour have given up there, which for someone who campaigned in Ashton for the Conservatives in 1997, I found 'extraordinary'. However, like Stalybridge and Hyde there has always been a decent number of 'Blue' Voters in both Constituencies, indeed on a couple of occasions the Conservatives came quite close. This, especially being the case in the 2010/2019 GE's when Jonathan ( QC) Reynolds won on both occasions byonly 3000 votes

Thus, it is not surprising that both Ashton and Stalybridge seats are odds on for Reform to gain in '2027' /2029. I do wonder why Denton has been placed with Gorton, when Denton has more in common with Ashton and Tameside than Gorton and Central Manchester !

I find the quest against X and Elon Musk in particular to be both 'frightening' and hilarious at the same time. The, frightening part being the ability for the whole left to 'unite' together under the banner of fighting the greater evil. Hilarious, because this is going to lose Labour more votes and highlights finally to everyone how corrupt the Labour Government really are.

Though, the main purpose of any proposed ban on 'AI' not real (remember that) GROK is to pretend the Labour Party truly care for the abuse of woman and children . However, the actions and opinions of Jess Phillips are impossible to ignore and show that any ban on X is to attempt to hoodwink the public.

Another, hilarious thing if only the Labour Party was to suffer and not the United Kingdom, would be how 'tiny' there are in an information and power war against Elon Musk !

I read earlier that they've managed to semi block Starlink. I suspect Mossad, however, knows exactly where everyone and everything is, so if outside forces do get involved they'll have intelligence.

I'm getting more and more puzzled with the handling of the Iran crisis.

I was hoping for more support for the uprising there, now it's at least on the news.

Edited

This is one of the reasons I found it worrying that MSM took so long to cover it.

tbh it's not possible to get into here because it's too much of a political hot potato to float ideas. The EU don't seem keen to express support either. I suspect some of the reasoning between UK and EU will be the same.

In terms of ordinary people on the street, I have already seen a couple of (not very bright) people on X saying that they are cautious of supporting the Iranian people because they feel that those speaking up for them are very right wing and that therefore, there must be something problematic about speaking up for the people of Iran. I'm not aware of this level of division during the Arab spring - I was working crazy hours at the time and didn't really have any idea ideas what anyone else thought. Which was probably a good thing 😂

@justasking111 I was thinking there must be a big risk of Starlink satellites being shut down.

EmeraldRoulette · 12/01/2026 21:56

Looked up Nadim Zahawi

Yes, he wanted vaccine passports. Started by saying it was a bad idea and then went on to recommend it. No wonder I shudder when I hear his name. I guess I did a good job blocking it out.

I can't really see that Reform supporters will be in favour of him joining but I don't know any. At least I don't know any who openly say that's how they vote.

SpaceRaccoon · 12/01/2026 22:14

I'm really gutted for the Iranians, I'd really hoped they'd get some help.

@EmeraldRoulette oh god that's brought it all back. Kemi still for me!

So many losses already though 😔 I hope so much you're correct.

redange · 12/01/2026 22:25

This is a Video that is worth watching, because it highlights what a lot of people are thinking. Some of the things that are being said, are not quite right but it is relevant .

Emerald: I am a Reform Party Member . Nadim Zahawi has Cabinet experience, which everyone agrees is a problem area for 'Reform' and the problems the Civil Service will create.

Regarding Vaccine Passports, I think in the end other than Andrew Bridgen most MP's went along with the Program, or just kept quiet. Look what they did to 'Andrew Bridgen' for asking extremely important questions about Vaccine effect. I actually saw someone 'dead' in his Car, after coming out of my 2nd Covid Vaccine injection.

it is obvious that the authorities, acted as if Covid was War, thus anyone offering 'disquiet' to the official narrative was to be 'eliminated' whether Physically or Bankrupted, Ridiculed and broken. Thus, considering who is/will be available for Government , Nadim Zahawi is as probably as good as it gets. I cannot see anyone in the current Labour Party, who would fit in at Reform, perhaps the Pembroke MP or Penrith MP Markus Campbell Savours. Hence, I have no feelings one way or another about Nadim Zahawi being in Reform.

TheNuthatch · 13/01/2026 12:24

Afternoon all 😁

This week's YouGov:

Reform - 24 (-2)
Cons - 20 (+1)
Lab - 19 (+2)
Lib Dem - 16 (nc)
Green - 14 (-2)

Kemi has seen a surge in popularity in other polling conducted by YouGov for who would make the best PM.

The proportion of Britons backing Badenoch in head-to-heads against Starmer, Farage or Davey has increased 8-10 points since August.

You Guv out of kilter again with the other Posters !

It is 'strange' how the media always quote You guv, when You Guv results have been completely at odds with other posters regarding Reform %. Is it what the mainstream want to be hearing i wonder ?

Yep YouGov generally is higher for Labour than the other polls.

@TheNuthatchgreat re Kemi, hope she overtakes them all.

EmeraldRoulette · 13/01/2026 13:13

YouGov are owned by Nadim Zahawi I think. Though every owner will have their methodology of course.

The weekly YouGov polling of voting intention is commissioned by Sky and The Times I believe. It does usually show better results for Labour than the other pollsters, and lower % for Reform.

@EmeraldRoulette Zahawi is a founder of YouGov, but no longer involved afaIk.

Twitter was interesting last night. The met said that they'd dispersed a small protest in London. Folks piled in saying nonsense it was a concerted effort to attack the diners at a Jewish restaurant.

Who knows.

Also on twitter very late I checked Iran. A poster put up that something interesting was happening in the Straits of Hormuz. That post subsequently vanished/was removed. So I'm no wiser.

It looks like the chief constable is having a hard time over the banning of a Jewish movement at a football match.

It's all so bloody weird these days.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. It is very weird atm. I'm relying on Omid Djilali rn as nothing else seems rooted in reality.
There's an awful story on the front of the times today about a Jewish Labour MP being banned from visiting a school in his constituency by pro-pal teachers. A decision backed by the NEU!

I think much of its being hidden, downplayed in London.
