A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Oh wow.
I had a really long drive today so I was catching up on some podcasts. They were talking about this being a possibility. Apparently Starmer and McSweeney spent years getting this union on their side, and now this result will mean that support has just crumbled.
This was framed as seismic for Starmer if Egan won. She is also a Burnham backer.

Ooh thanks for this. Tick tock

TheNuthatch · 17/12/2025 20:39

I'm just listening to today's PMQs. Did anybody see it?
I think I just heard Starmer say that he is sure the member for something or other (couldn't hear properly but a Reform MP) is hoping for a 'white' Christmas.
Fucking hell 🤯. I hope I misheard him, but I don't think so.

Speaking of nasty pow - I just googled it. Starmer did say that Pochin was dreaming of a white christmas.
I'm no fan of Sarah Pochin, but thats a vile thing to say imo.

I suspect he's very nasty and you'd not want him as a neighbour. Equally, he doesn't appear to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, and 100+ hours of community service might have been more a more appropriate punishment.

Unpleasant rather than "hurty" words without a doubt, but theft and criminal damage, which really impact on people's lives, seem to attract lesser suspended sentences.

Yep. I agree totally. He won't leave prison a better person either.

Members of Unison, Britain’s biggest union, have chosen as their new leader a leftwinger who was thrown out of the Labour party — creating a another problem for Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

Andrea Egan, who won by 60 per cent to 40 per cent against former leader and Starmer ally Christina McAnea, has vowed to take a more confrontational approach towards the government as Unison’s general secretary.

She has promised a “comprehensive review of our relationship with Labour to ensure we get value for money”, although allies of McAnea have questioned whether that is possible under the union’s rules.

All on a turnout of 7%.

Not a typo seven %

Cheaper mortgages…if you can hold onto your job as the economy weakens. I’m not sure they should be crowing about that…

Whether or not he is a nice person, or somebody you would want as a friend is irreverent. What is very concerning is how a Judge defines what is the 'triggering 'term in somebody's post. Imagine I posted 'we must do everything we can to ensure Labour do not get in to Government every again'. By not posting 'Legally' in quotation marks, does that mean in this highly politicized and left Wing driven Judiciary. A certain Judge could assume I would be willing to commit a 'Criminal' offence to rid the country of a Labour Government. Very Very Concerning and also highlighting that they have no intention after Lucy Connelly of sentencing people appropriately to their 'Crimes' and not by ethnicity or political bias.

Cheaper mortgages against reduced demand, higher OPEX, and falling NAV’s.

There’s a reason demand-side inflation is falling.

This government really are a bunch of thickos.

Brilliant….

Yes, I don’t see this as good news. Looks awfully like a recession brewing to me..

The UK economy is being inexorably degraded, piece by piece, by this abomination of a government.

What I find staggering is that seemingly everyone but Labour can see it.

Starmer can try to defang the electorate all he likes, the reckoning will be all the worse for him.

After working like a dog no shade to dogs I am finishing this week and I think my business is finished too. We are 30% up on turnover but no profit all the expenses have gone through the roof the new obligation of Making Tax Digital is onerous and over bearing and bloody expensive if you can’t do it yourself. If I work with the air b and b I get pushed into higher rate tax even though with section 24 there is no profit there either soooooo break over Christmas and re consider my options. So many friends are doing the same it’s so sad

CambridgeSingers · 18/12/2025 07:42

Osborne and Balls on political currency suggesting we’re at a tipping point - i’d love to hear Labour state the case for what they think they’ve done for businesses in the private sector…I’m sure we’ll get
waffle about red tape.

i’m sure like wage growth, if you break all these numbers down, the ‘growth’ we have is propped up by public sector spending and we’re already in recession.

Christmaschristingle · 18/12/2025 07:42

Spouses that migrants bring eg the boat people end up costing us 109 hundred though over their life time.
Isn't that awful !!
Again caveat genuine refugees bring it on proper families etc fleeing terror.

I'm not sure I understand what Starmer is saying with that. With it following the sentence about the Leader of the Opposition being Home Alone, is he making a racist jibe at Badenoch?!? Whilst I really dislike Starmer, he surely wouldn't do that??

CambridgeSingers · 18/12/2025 08:58

Think he’s just saying reform are racists who want the uk to be white.

and in other news - Rachel trashing experts? I’m shocked..

He’s nasty and a fool, trying to insult. As usual just making people loathe him more.

ProfessorIDareSay · 18/12/2025 09:07

He is basically calling Sarah Pochin of Reform a white supremacist.

This from a man who says "that politics should be driven by a sense of service to the country, not considerations of party or self-interest".

Oh no. I'm so sorry Parsley. 🫂
This government couldn't run a bath. So many businesses going under thanks to these incompetent fuckers.
Any news on the civil service job you were going for? That seems to have dragged on for months now.

Enjoy your xmas break. Sounds like you need a rest anyway after all the hours you've been putting in. Peace and love to you and yours ❤️

Another local leisure attraction has closed down this week. Attributed to rising rent, business rates, and costs of employment.
My admiration knows no bounds for those managing to keep their small businesses afloat in these times but I don't blame anyone for throwing in the towel. Things can only get worse.
