A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

We are bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I made the mistake of watching that Reeves clip prepping - going on about fairness and how their soggy toast policies were already making lives better! Hahahaha

Yeh I might have to avoid. That and the crowing from Labour on here is too much.

FFS.

Mediocre and petty.

I’m a data person - tax rises on higher earners aren’t fair, we’re already the highest taxed for the worst services…I’m sick of the lies.

the Christmas music is on full blast to distract
me whilst I’m ‘not working’

It’s Xmas!!!!!

Oh wait, for many it will not be.

I'm home today and our wonderful cleaner has come which alleviates the need for housework for today at least. She has been with us 30 years and she would have to be wrenched from my cold dead hands before I give her up, even with whatever horrors await on the budget.

I don't think I can avoid watching it.

Watching sky news now and wishing I had gone to London to march with the farmers.

MantleStatue · 26/11/2025 10:40

I've never known a feeling like this before any budget before. EVERYONE is talking about it. In the line at Aldi this morning people are talking about it. Wry comments about getting the whiskey in. A comment about COL making Christmas that much worse and who knows how much worse things will be this afternoon.

Pretty much universal condemnation on the news from commentators. The Graun turning against Labour.

I can't recall SUCH an ominous feeling of civil unrest tbh.

Farmers are arriving in their tractors to protest the inheritance tax disgrace in defiance of a last minute ban. Good for them.

They’re arresting farmers now

MantleStatue · 26/11/2025 10:51

No!

Fuck me.

They should have waved a few Palestine flags, that seems to render you untouchable.

🤣 Yes, that could have worked.

It was so underhand for the police to ban the tractor protest just the day before. Apparently it has been on the cards and planned for months. And then yesterday, they decided it would be too disruptive.

Caps44 · 26/11/2025 11:08

3 more years of pain and then Nigel will save our finances.

Two more budgets after this and I think people might have had their fill of high taxation parties.

Not much change over the week.

How on earth are Labour up 1 point to poll at 21. Who on earth is going to vote for these Society Wreckers !

Labour are known always for high tax. Reform will save us a lot of money (as will Lib Dems and Tories)...so I see it as 3 more years of pain and then relief. Starting with the VAT on fees being removed.

redange · 26/11/2025 11:19

My Sisters 22 year old son on farmers protest today. The Met Police have again tried to make it as difficult as possible to protest.

There’s still a few dependent on the state either bus pay or other who will. As bad as Labour are.

It will likely dwindle more. Some to Greens or to the right.

If the two child benefit thing changes I think they’ll struggle.

The 1 points here and there aren't really meaningful - it can be a quirk of just how the poll went that week. If you got a change of three points over the week then you could confidently say it was a significant change and indicative of something interesting happening.

The polls usually don't often have a swing as big as that over a week and you'll only see significant change emerge over many weeks or months.

Edited

Exactly, all within the margin of error.

Do we know the polling sample size out of interest?

Don’t worry, just found it.

Polling size of 2,062 which puts the margin of error at +/-2
