Incidentally, we now have a complete recruitment ban on non clinical staff, May leaves won’t be covered and rumour has it that any new staff will be given a start date after the beginning of the new financial year.
I’d imagine Wes refers to this as efficient.

Deafnotdumb · 26/11/2025 11:21

Resolutely ignoring the budget until the dust settles. Clients to see, cats to stroke. Good luck everyone, today.

I actually didn't know that we have the highest incarceration rates in Western Europe but if we currently have the Jury system, does that play a part?

The issue is sentencing, which is the purview of judges. Judges will set the sentence according to the law and guidelines. But in the last fifteen years sentences have become far harsher in length.

But under these proposals convictions would likely increase, and prison numbers increase too. Awful

DuncinToffee · 26/11/2025 11:34

Is anyone following the trial of the guy who drove into the Liverpool parade?

He has just changed his plea to guilty.

OP posts:
bombastix · 26/11/2025 12:03

Well he is going to prison for life I would assume.

DuncinToffee · 26/11/2025 12:07

OBR has accidently released report before the budget is announced Shock

BIossomtoes · 26/11/2025 12:13

I really hope heads will roll for that.

PickAChew · 26/11/2025 12:13

Well that spoils the suspense.

Talking of juries and bias, I’m off to see To Kill A Mockingbird in Cardiff this afternoon.
Hoping to miss the budget meltdown until later.

I’m going tomorrow night! I saw it in London. It’s a brilliant adaptation. Aaron Sorkin is a genius. Enjoy!
I’m going to avoid listening to the budget and just catch a summary later. I’m off to Mumbles to record with BBCWales later. Hope it can still be broadcast (Christmas Eve plus Sounds) what with the apocalypse and everything.

DuncinToffee · 26/11/2025 12:16

If I were Reeves, I would say fuck this and join BestIsWest in Cardiff

BBC busily going through it chapter and verse.
They really are something.

PickAChew · 26/11/2025 12:19

This is not the headline I would give this graph.

Me too. In fact, I really hope she calls it a day because her job’s basically undoable. There’s a very good reason why there was pre budget purdah.

3 more years of pain, before Nigel saves our finances.

...into his own bank account...

Guardian are reporting it as a leak rather than an accidenttal release

And are also reporting it chapter and verse

So not just BBC

He has just offered to pay the legal fees for farmers clogging up the roads in Westminster today, he might need to ask Russia for an advance

OBR an example of reverse nominative determinism.

Well at least the justification for abolishing them is now clear.

DuncinToffee · 26/11/2025 12:30

Safe to say that the world wont be ending at 13.30?

Karistyleaftea · 26/11/2025 12:32

I'm watching the BBC , expected it would be reported elsewhere but the glee on Chris Mason's face is a tad annoying.

Karistyleaftea · 26/11/2025 12:32

The Government is angry about the leak to the media.

bombastix · 26/11/2025 12:34

Yes they should be. There is a reason why purdah is a good idea.

If it’s a leak then someone needs dealing with severely.

Guardian have now corrected that to member of staff at OBR accidentally uploaded it onto OBR website

Oh dear they are going to be in trouble

I hope they’re sacked. I know people who have been for much more minor misdemeanours.
