Debenhams. It’s shite now it’s online

Also our local Chinese chippy. I’ve never found gravy to match it.

zeebra · 16/11/2025 13:12

I am sure I recently heard that Gap is coming back to the High Street.
Mine are Freeman and Hardy Willis- There were great for cheap but comfortable work shoes.
Woolworths.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 16/11/2025 13:16

Woolworths and more niche, a shoe shop, called Grants, which had a branch on Walworth Road, decades ago now, and sold the most wonderful shoes. Oh, and Kennedy's, a chain in SE London of delicatessen/ butchers.

Needmorelego · 16/11/2025 13:19

hattymattie · 16/11/2025 13:07

Boots sells Mothercare branded products.
Or they go to the baby section at Smyths.
A branch of M+S I went in had a Mamas and Papas concession.

Agreed!

BettyfromBristol · 16/11/2025 13:36

Boswells in Oxford. A proper independent department store, especially good for linens, cookware and toys. I visited Oxford earlier this year and was dismayed to find it was gone.

A suburb of Bristol had Miltons, selling everything a child wanted, books, toys, stationery, art and craft supplies. I took DS to Bristol when he was about 10, promising new Lego and it had gone. I nearly cried, it was my favourite shop as a child, the place to spend my pocket money.

Also Woolworths and BHS. I still have two BHS nighties, no idea what I will do when they wear out.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 16/11/2025 13:39

FoxLoxInSox · 16/11/2025 13:41
