A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

Bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

She did, didn't she? Whereas Kemi has the look and demeanor of a woman who has never shed a tear at work in her life.

😂😂 Exactly what we need.

Yeh, maybe.
Starmer won't last long if he sacks Reeves.

We'd get a BOGOF on those two, as it were! (Or LOGOF, with L = lose.)

Julen7 · 12/11/2025 21:13

Can you sack your chancellor after a budget though? Wouldn’t a PM have to sign off a budget?

I’ll stop with the questions now though 😊

Haha, yes the PM signs off the budget as they are first lord of the treasury.
The buck stops with Starmer, however much he tries to pin it all on Reeves. As it did with Truss.

You're supposed to be eternally grateful for the breakfast clubs 😉

I find the soggy toast a bit triggering, if I’m honest 😂

I suppose he could sack Reeves after the budget. But it would be very odd and a disastrous move.

IMO they’re tied together. She’ll go when he does. She could bring him down first I guess, but that doesn’t look likely.

I finds RR even more painful to listen to than Starmer. I won’t be watching the budget.

They both have a robotic monotone that is really irritating.

I keep seeing Streeting wearing a traitors cloak on SM 😂. He's played a blinder with that.

Back from my non-working job. Absolutely swimming in teachers and TAs thanks to the extra VAT money…oh wait…no we aren’t.

Don't worry, I've been working hard for everyone. Yesterday I was touring Chatsworth House and today I've been recovering. I know, it's hard work, but someone has to pick up the slack from all you non workers😁🤣🤣

TheNuthatch · 12/11/2025 21:44

I love Chatsworth. I haven't been for a few years, need to rectify that.
Enjoy it, you've earned it. Please keep us posted on your trips and travels. Smile

I know right? The non-working business is exhausting.

Is Streeting not relatively sane on the trans issue?

I don't know

I thought he had done a 180 in order to believe in biology but I don't pay much attention to Labour politicians so I don't remember 100%. I remember feeling that he had probably arrived on the side of sanity because of how he perceives public opinion but that might also be why he said other stuff

Anyway, there was quite a lot in the public domain but the main thing I remember is this

https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1628883/wes-streeting-abusive-tweets-labour-leadership-apologise-update/amp

also, if he's influenced by the state of his constituency, that's a worry IMHO, because of the candidate just behind him.

anyway, evening all. Very busy today so no idea what's been going on.

Wes Streeting issues an apology for 'abusive violent' Tweets branded 'deeply shameful' | Politics | News | Express.co.uk

LABOUR leadership hopeful Wes Streeting has apologised after being condemned for abusive historic Tweets which have left questions over his ambitions to one day replace Sir Keir Starmer.

@upseedaisee I do really want to go to Chatsworth but I heard it's a bit of a nuisance without a car. Having said that, people have told me that about a lot of places and it hasn't been a pain.

Also, I find the nice thing about a local cab company is they will tell you lots of interesting things about the area you're visiting.

38thparallel · 12/11/2025 21:57

@EmeraldRoulette There’s a good taxi firm local to Chatsworth called Pacman taxis.

Legolava · 12/11/2025 22:03

Well the papers don’t look good for Starmer. I would like nothing better than to see the both of them out. They are bribing the party to stay in when the country can’t afford it. Sentiment is really going against welfare now. Personally, I think it’s awful some of the stuff. However they really have turned the general public against each other haven’t they? The most divisive government I have ever seen. They came for the private school parents, the business owners, the private sector, the immigrants. Now it’s the turn of the workers and the pensioners. The only people safe are the welfare claimants and public sector. It’s almost deliberate. If you look at MN lately, usually very heavily in support of welfare. Sentiment has changed, people are angry.

redange · 12/11/2025 22:12

Why are you so desperate to upset people, that don't support the Labour Party that you post hurtful comments when people are remembering the greatest generation...

Shameful and Pathetic...

EmeraldRoulette · 12/11/2025 22:17

@38thparallel thanks, I will definitely remember the name of that firm 😊

@Legolava I don't know that people have changed their view, maybe people just didn't feel able to post before. Unless people are really stopping to think about it now? Maybe just made assumptions that everything was correct in that way?

If the likes of you get your desired way, a lack of English grammar, or basic grasp of punctuation will not be a barrier for the new 'Barbara Castle' to become Prime Minister !

Yeah I think part of that might be true. Before the election NO-ONE could be honest about their worries with Labour. If they were they would face abuse. That’s on here and in the real world IMO. People couldn’t ask,”But what is the plan?” Now it’s becoming obvious to the overwhelming majority, there was no plan, people are emboldened to call the nonsense out.

redange · 12/11/2025 22:23

A basic lack of punctuation, grammar or even common decency in describing political opponents, is no bar to how far you can ascend within the virtuous Labour Party !
