Labour isn't working - Thread 18

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

Bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I don't believe I said that made it OK. I was just explaining as the person who originally posted about this said veterans were being evicted. Which is not the case. Anyway, I'll not trouble the thread further. Just popped back to respond to you.

I think Mantari’s addition was good and helpful. It didn’t express a view. Just clarified the facts.

I thought Kemi did well today; every word and jibe she directed at KS hit him squarely between the eyes.

What I found more interesting, though, was the bags under her eyes and general demeanour of our "esteemed" Chancellor - seemingly worn down and exhausted; pretty much like most of the public as a direct result of her arrogant mismanagement of the economy.

I agree. She has the look of a woman who’s been crying in the loos but then has had to pull herself together.

TheNuthatch · 12/11/2025 18:35

Evening all. Busy day not working again today.

@SquirrelsTakenMyNuts Welcome 👋.

Didn’t the cost of borrowing go up again today?

It could be that

NoWordForFluffy · 12/11/2025 18:40

Busy day of non-work here too. Gosh, it's wearing all this non-working.

I had a job interview today for another non-working role. Not sure it's in the bag, but time will tell. 🤞

Rivalled · 12/11/2025 18:41

Gruelling non work day here too, everyone in my company waiting for restructuring and redundancy news due any minute. It’s a delightful atmosphere!

She did, didn't she? Whereas Kemi has the look and demeanor of a woman who has never shed a tear at work in her life.

Oh shit. Is the whole place at risk? You must be so worried.

Rivalled · 12/11/2025 18:46

Sorry, not the entire company - fried brain - pretty much everyone in the department I work in - it’s been rumbling on for a while. Comms have been awful, something is being announced soon but we don’t know how far it’ll go, or if they’ll do more post Christmas in the quiet season….

Yep. Bet she’s dealt with bellends like Starmer before too.

I see Streeting is laying into the doctors big time, again, with strikes looming. Well, well, well.

I’m so glad that Labour spraying cash all over the doctors ended the BMA’s demands. 🙄

I’m so pleased. I wanted her as leader but I wobbled on it a bit afterwards. She has totally stepped up, more than most tbh.

I forked over some dosh today. May as well be part of a change.

Same. I had a bit after where I regretted it not being Jenrick but I've come back round.

Glad you've come back into the fold. 👍

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 12/11/2025 19:50

I think she’s very good. Slow start at PMQs but it was never terrible. She was faced with an arrogant, dissembling weasel. And in any case it was tough stuff immediately after a crushing defeat.

I also rate her highly on her instinctive approach to what Toryism should offer in the longer term, as a breadth of policy. She’s not a hang ‘em and flog ‘em reactive loudmouth. She thinks.

I am thinking of parting with cash too. I really do like Kemi.

Over the way, I think a penny has dropped.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 12/11/2025 20:25

This is all so wonderfully bizarre.

It seems there won't be any new kittens called Rodney, judging from the mood somewhere else on MN, whereas here he seems to be the preferred option, ie the devil we know.

You couldn't make it up.

Do we think he will last the course though? The thing I am reading today is that post May elections there will be a mass rebellion in the Labour ranks,
i have decided I want to keep him - he’s awful but if he goes Labour will surely lurch further to the left,
