A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

Bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

A mood lightener is Jenrick's response when invited to apologise for the AI Lammy clown video.

All depends on reaction to the budget I guess.

If we’re all the victims of an elaborate deception campaign and the manifesto isn’t trashed (I know, unlikely), or if the budget actually goes down well (I know, even more unlikely) then Starmer will be safe. But a media storm - and I include the BBC in that, i.e. not just headlines in the Mail and Telegraph - and even just a small drop in the polls, and it will break loose.

I don’t doubt the truth of the reporting of Starmer’s ‘save my skin’ briefing campaign. A pre-budget version of getting his retaliation in first.

Off topic... @upseedaisee I'm keen to know where your next adventure will be! I am living vicariously through you while I am still engaged in non-work. Grin

(TBF though I have a day off today, but am doing nothing much as have hurt my back).

Nothing til December when I am off to the theatre for a James Bond Concert Spectaular. All the theme tunes, a full orchestra and singers.
Don't worry, I'll take the hit for all you non working types, someone has put their nose to the grindstone 😁

I saw that, priceless. I do like this side of Jenrick.

I think the budget will mollify the markets first and that will get them past that hurdle. But it will really piss more people off and that will be reflected in the local elections.

That will be a problem, but he’ll likely still hang on.

But it’s all up in the air tbh, I’m not certain.

So who briefed it?

Wes Streeting has attacked a “toxic” culture in Downing Street and demanded Sir Keir Starmer sack those responsible for an extraordinary briefing war.

Are these people ‘Starmer allies’ and Streeting is saying sack them..? I mean I don’t watch that show but it seems rather devious

Rivalled · 12/11/2025 09:26

More sackings at number 10 - it’s like a revolving door…

Yes thats what he's saying, and he was adamant that they were not speaking for Starmer. He seemed sure that Starmer was unaware of it and accused his advisors.

If Starmer was/is aware, and in on it, Streeting's position could now be precarious.

Streeting also said something about - at least they're picking on one of the boys this time, as they usually brief against female cabinet ministers - suggesting that he knew who it was as they had done similar in the past.

Who here liked the Blair government on everything except the Iraq war?

I see. Who is the dark mob I need to know names 😬

I loved the Blair govt…I even initially agreed with Iraq - I was young and naive…

I liked them initially, I voted for Blair.
I wouldn't say I liked everything though. They were better than the current shower.

Which is why I get confused who to like and who to not.

Why is Starmer so different? Why didn't things get better?

All making me laugh

Yeh could be. It could backfire in some way.

I'm probably not the best person to ask as I have always had a visceral response to Starmer. He makes me want to vomit, always has.

I really cannot believe that a number of senior Labour politicians and staffers have struck out against Streeting without Starmer’s knowledge. That sounds highly improbable.

Acolytes of Starmer trying to please their master by going rogue, like the knights and Thomas à Beckett? Nah.

And even if it were true, it would just show that Starmer’s got no control over anyone.
