A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

Bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

😂 Every time I see "Opinium", I hear the Sisters of Mercy "Dominion" 🎤
"Some say prayers, some say prayeeeerrs
And I say mine"

(just in case anyone wanted an 80s earworm)

I was awake for a good chunk of the night, annoying. I looked at this thread but...nah.

@upseedaisee i've never been to Chatsworth house - I hope you have fun.

The person who said about Donald Trump and someone assuming you're a Trump supporter because of what you were saying about the BBC, yes, I find this kind of thinking very prevalent at the moment. It's really lazy and also a tactic in itself, telling people that their views are defined by a really broad set of characteristics and almost trying to force people to take sides.

The TDS is strong on both sides of the pond, but there's also that way of thinking, I don't know if there's an academic term to describe it.

😂 I love your ear worm comments.

Right. Must get on with some non work.. I’ve got some non work reports to write, and some non work workshops and non work meetings to attend. It’s so bloody tiring non work. Don’t believe me just watch Labour, you bitter fools. ;)

38thparallel · 11/11/2025 09:27

@upseedaisee have a great time at Chatsworth! Are the decorations up yet?

Julen7 · 11/11/2025 09:34

I’m off to not-work too, catch up with you all later. Hoping for a visitor free day on here,

Sorry to drop in, but just wanted to point out @SpaceRaccoon that you do come up in Active discussions.

I occasionally read these threads, to get another perspective - despite being more left-leaning than many.

I’d also like to point out, though, that I never name change. So any of the posts you dislike or feel were derailing the thread, were not me.

And now I’ll scuttle back to lurking/other threads.

SpaceRaccoon · 11/11/2025 09:37

@BIWI ah okay, I didn't realise.
I recognise your name and I'd never in a million years think that you would name change to be goady.

BIWI · 11/11/2025 09:38

Thank you!

Edited to add: I’m sure I’m quite capable of being goady in this name Wink!

LeakyRad · 11/11/2025 09:42

I'm just scrolling past the Reform obsessive posts, as I have previously made perfectly clear what my political position is. I joined this thread (and mostly lurk) because I'm deeply upset by the Labour shambles digging us all into a deeper and deeper hole, having been hopeful back in July 2024 that they'd be the grown-ups sorting out the mess caused by the Tories.

I have taken at face value the OP: "A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government" meaning that this is the only thing we all have in common. Which is why everybody is posting about the apparently never-ending screw-ups, deliberate vandalisms, hypocrisies and incompetence of this Labour government and its supporters. Having said that, it is hardly surprising that dislike of the Labour government might correlate with being right-leaning, but (for those at the back) it is not immoral/illegal to be right-leaning!

redange · 11/11/2025 09:43

Maybe Polansky has worked out if you made all Class A drugs legal you could abolish income tax!

Only joking, but you never know, maybe he is about to unleash his inner Capitalist Spirit . Just think of all those New Millionaires created from Blacked out BMW and Hoodie's to CEO of Drugs International in two months.

He’s a very sensible man. I can’t understand how anyone over the age of teenager, doesn’t get the importance of defence spending.

Yes, completely. And proper defence spending actually on defence. And not sticking the Chagos bollocks under defence and saying we are on target to hit our obligations - Bollard accounting.

You were never a suspect btw. Most of us do stick to the 'agreement' to leave each other alone. Neither side want their thread ruined and/or pulled.

Well Maggie opened up the market, with BT perhaps we could get invest in some of these potential FT 100 Companies created by Zac Polansky !

Upstartled · 11/11/2025 09:51

I have a quick nose on the other thread to see the alternative perspective on a particular thing too @BIWI.

That's how I accidentally ended up posting on the other thread the other week 😬 I'm beginning to think some of the heckling on both threads is just disruptive voices who enjoy the sport of derailing - rather than disruptors from the other side, iyswim.

Gosh, that's all a lot closer than usual. I wonder if Kemi is getting some cut through now, she's been stronger in pmqs and made a good speech on the economy last week.

Tbf she’s got time and reason on her side. Labour’s tax and benefit increases will cause utter despair with many.

Lots of gremlins about 😂

Hopefully Kemi will begin to shine through as the grown up in the room 🤞

I’m honestly so sorry about that! My connection was poor and the comment posted several times! I’ve asked for them to be removed!
