A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

Bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Scorched earth, salting the earth etc were all chucked at the Tories by the Labourites on MN. I don’t want to play their silly and paranoid games.

I think the simple fact is that Reeves is a hopeless incompetent who is panicking. She’ll tear down the house because she has no idea what else to do, in the face of hostile backbenchers.

I’m not sure it makes much difference?

If they’re losing their heads either due to MPs or markets it’s going to feel bizarre to the electorate.

Going back to the BBC bias omnishambles. On the 6 o’clock news just now, Samir Shah scratched his nose in answer to one question about why the Beeb hadn’t sorted out their reply to the biased reporting issues, he scratched his nose. In reply to a second question on the same subject he rubbed his cheek. I may be mistaken, but in my understanding of body language and ‘tells’ isn’t this is called ‘leaking ‘ ? Was he being entirely truthful or was he out of his depth ?

Definitely trying to please the party rather than the voters.

Yep. The outcome is the same. Whether is is wilful or incompetence, the outcome is the same.

The school I worked at, it wasn't spent on the kids in many families.

That’s so sad !

I’d rather give the extra to the schools to pay for some nurturing and enjoyable after school activities
Maybe it could stretch to more academic support too.

I’d be more than happy for my taxes to go to that

Well at least the National Lottery operator will be happy. All those extra scratch card sales.

It's sad. I became a clear Tory voter working at the school. A life on benefits is disastrous for children. We offered after school clubs, read with your child sessions for parents, we had local sports clubs come and offer free holiday clubs for the kids. Sadly, some parents just don't care.

I work in a similar school now and feel exactly the same way with voting intention.

SpaceRaccoon · 10/11/2025 19:48

I haven't worked in a school, but I lived for years in what was considered a deprived area and I could see the alcohol expenditure, addiction issues, even smoking rates. There's no point giving inadequate parents more money if how they spend the money is the underlying problem in the first place.

Munich - 5th safest city in Europe. Wonder where your friend moved to? @upseedaisee Seems like a bit of an upheaval.

Reeves has confirmed today she will be lifting the 2 child benefit cap

Surely it would make sense to increase benefits once the budget is under control.

Wonder how its going to be paid for …..
shoulders sink

Do you think Farage is laughing his head off at this?

I think Reform were just going to abolish the cap for families with working parents weren't they?
If Labour abolish it completely, it will be another stick for Reform to beat them with.

Working British born parents only I thought

redange · 10/11/2025 20:20

Squarealarmclock ·

I have been out until now:

I am not a spokesperson for Reform nor am I asking you to vote that way. This thread is not about whether Reform will provide competent and effective Government if elected, but about the current governments dismal performance.

However, for the record I accept that voting for Reform at the next general election is a shot in the dark and according to polling around 33% are prepared to gamble.

The reasons are obvious why people see the election of an untried party as the only way forward . People on here should hope that if Reform are elected in to government they provide a significant improvement on the current circumstances. The reason being that if they fail, we will be heading towards becoming a third world country and the likelihood of serious internal disturbances between city and country folk,,

Frankenchino · 10/11/2025 20:21

Let’s see how ReformUK are ‘working’ in Kent…

”The Reform UK-led Kent County Council must 'get a grip' - that's the message from a boss at the Fire Brigades' Union. The comments come amid 'chaos' at the council which has seen a number of councillor suspensions.
Steve Wright, FBU general secretary, said the situation has created a “threat to public safety” as the removals have had an impact on the representation of fire and rescue services in the local authority. The union labelled the “flagship” Reform UK council leader “captain chaos” in a blistering statement.”

redange · 10/11/2025 20:27

Is this all the left can do to disrupt a thread. Pinpointing county council issues to cancel discussion about the inadequacy of the ruling administration. It is also evident that however replaces this current Government will face a 'Shit' storm from every Union, the NHS, Civil Service , Police, Fire the BBC and any other organisation that has been throwing pound notes down the drain.

I don’t really want to replace incompetence with extreme incompetence.
