I’ve just come back from a lovely walk in the Autumn sunshine. At one point a persistent fly buzzed round my face and it took a couple of hand waves to dissuade it. Moving on was the best thing to do, reasoning with it or trying to speak its unintelligible Fly language was pointless. Apropos of nothing……

Go Away Goodbye GIF

is the best policy, thanks for the reminder.

Evenstar · 16/11/2025 11:37

Sunshine here today, but it feels much colder, planning to dig out some gloves this afternoon as there are snow showers forecast later in the week.

Is this Peyps diary now ?

Faint hint of sun here (Midlands) after the 2 days of rain demonstrations from Gods catalogue. A few classics mixed with some contemporary takes.

Chill and still.

On with a cook up.

DuncinToffee · 16/11/2025 11:42

We are having curry tonight. It will go in the oven before we go out for a walk and check up on a movie set that is being built nearby and it be ready when we get back.

Sunny and calm here. I am supposed to be making an almond cake, but am hindered by a ginger cat who thinks I am a chair. Oh, the hardship.

BestIsWest · 16/11/2025 11:44

Roast chicken for us. I need to go out to buy a cauli.

BIossomtoes · 16/11/2025 11:44

Grey and dreich here.

PandoraSocks · 16/11/2025 11:45

Grey here, but dry. Stroganoff for dinner.

PandoraSocks · 16/11/2025 11:47

Misuse of the react button is frowned upon by MNHQ. Just saying.

Yes I've noticed that too

BIossomtoes · 16/11/2025 11:54

Oh Lord, that old trick’s being employed, is it? How bloody sneaky, talk about passive aggressive. Report it.

Evenstar · 16/11/2025 11:54

Roast pork, mashed celeriac, baby leeks and green beans here, with baked apples stuffed with mincemeat and clotted cream for pudding.

Can I come, please? That sounds wonderful.

Evenstar · 16/11/2025 11:58

@Blossomtoes I wish you were nearer, you would be very welcome. I often think a big meet up of all our regulars on here would be lovely, we would never run out of interesting things to chat about.

itsgettingweird · 16/11/2025 11:58

I’ve just been to various supermarkets but I’m now ready for the week ahead!

It’s grey here too but not cold. It’s 11° but I was warm enough in leggings, jumper and crocs with no socks 🫣😂

itsgettingweird · 16/11/2025 12:04

The asylum reforms look like a watered down version of the Rwanda deterrent. Don’t bother coming because you’ll get nothing.

Also working for 20 years and then being sent back after paying tax and NI for that time? Insane.

I was going to say the same!

You've got me dreaming about a Mumsnet pub lunch now!

bombastix · 16/11/2025 12:15

Well I am the outlier here in as much as I don’t think Mahmoud’s proposals are particularly outrageous if you compare them to elsewhere in Europe. There looks to have been some serious political tinkering to make them look tough. 20 years absurd. The possible idea of return seems uncertain.

And some of the more strident ideas from Denmark have not been imported ie “ghetto management”.

Mahmoud is one to watch imo. She is tough and effective. I can see her as PM.

@Evenstar your cooking sounds delicious.

I think that would be fantastic. I’d definitely be in.

Traditional Sunday morning shop done, this morning. I have a free motion embroidery class, this afternoon. Of course, there is laundry to fit around everything. Dinner will be something quick and easy, again.

It's been grey all morning but some of the sky is now an unfamiliar shade of blue.

PandoraSocks · 16/11/2025 12:38

Off topic completely, but this is an interesting post from Justine

It's a bit grey here, but we have been cleaning, painting and rewiring ds1s new house. The previous occupier was a smoker, so the carpets all need to go. He's arranging for new in a couple of weeks, so the ones in main rooms are being cleaned this afternoon and the rest will be floorboards for a while.

I would love a meet up, count me in 😀

First reply nails it.

I might be persuaded to start reporting again if a real change becomes evident.

ETA I suspect that this is likely to be used in the same way as the reaction button by some.

So nice to hear what everyone is up to today 🥰
