Labour isn't working - Thread 17

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

@Frankenchino I have a child with an EHCP. I certainly do not want a Reform government. I joined this thread as I had questions what alternative governments could offer my traditional “socialist” family.

Frankenchino · 08/11/2025 21:52

@MrsMurphyIWish

Which is my position! What is the alternative?

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2025 21:53

Also, frankly, Reform are irrelevant at 3.5 years away from a GE. We need to worry about Labour's plans for those years.

I can't see Reform being as popular once they've fucked a load of councils up.

Of course it’s fine to criticise! I’m not trying to stop you. I’m just expressing my opposing view. I’m don’t know why that’s deemed unacceptable - or that you have certain ‘criteria’ that posters have to fulfil in order to comment on this thread!

It's just kind of rude.

No-one really cares to be honest. The thread isn’t about you. It’s about issues impacting people right now because of decisions this government has made:

So what do you want to happen?

Everybody here has their worries, about their children, about their homes, their companies and their employees, their pensions. Does that make posters far right in your opinion?

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2025 21:56

Yeah, Labour can be trusted with our SEND children: www.specialneedsjungle.com/digital-standardised-ehcps-ditched-labour-aiming-kill-statutory-send-provision/

Which of Labour's policies are actively good for your child?

Frankenchino · 08/11/2025 21:59

I didn’t accuse any poster of being far right. I said ReformUK are far right. Or are they not in your opinion.

TheNuthatch · 08/11/2025 21:59

Frankenchino · 08/11/2025 21:36

@InterestQ

I’m stressed too! Incredibly stressed! So I should be able to speak out if I disagree and still support Labour over ‘the alternative that can’t be named’.

Are you aware that there is another long running chat thread like this one, but for posters who share your views? I think you mind find the ladies over there more to your liking. I started these threads so that posters who don't like Labour have somewhere to go to chat without being harassed.

This thread is specifically for those who have denounced Labour and socialism. You clearly don't share that view. I'm not trying to kick you off the thread, I'm just not sure why you chose this one out of the whole of MN, which is all very pro Labour.

Presumably your child had an ECHP under the last Government. They were neither Labour nor Reform.

Why don't you ask AI? Its results are quite interesting.

No-one really cares. This thread is full of people whose business could or has gone to the wall. Parents worried about SEND reforms. SEND parents failed by state and impacted by VAT. Workers who are being hit every which way and are making serious financial decisions. All on the basis of Labour policies. People really don’t give much headspace to Reform. That’s for you and your fellow Labour supporters.

Frankenchino · 08/11/2025 22:01

@NoWordForFluffy

My son first had his EHCP when the Tories were in power, and I do get a slightly better response time from the council now.

I agree with ‘inclusion’ being part of the new OFSTED report card and ‘local schools for local children’.

Odd that…

SamHain25 · 08/11/2025 22:04

Why are the left obsessed with reform? You know the best way to keep reform out of government? Labour need to be better. Much better.

🤯 I didn’t know about their dropping of the conservatives plans on ehcps. Fgs. It’s not enough they’ve stopped the ability of some to get their needs met at private school, they’re fcking everything up so none of these kids has a chance. Despicable. What are they thinking??

From this thread I have learned my previous voting history has been more centralist. I actually believe a lot of posters on this thread believe in a welfare state that works - but it isn’t currently. I also see that as a teacher.

The system isn’t working now. DS is supposed to have 15 hours 1-2-1. He did at primary but now in Yr 7 he has a floating TA. There’s no point in complaining — they can’t magic up another TA.

Unless education has an injection of funds nothing will improve but where can those funds be sourced?

Personally I don’t mind other points of view on here. I don’t go on the Labour thread. But I’d like to think that we’re a bit more civilised and welcoming than the cat botherers.

In some ways I admire anyone who can speak up for this government. It’s so bad that it must take a supreme effort to cling to any belief in it.
