A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Can you hide people too? Genuine question, there's a few I'd rather not see

There has been many a thread about it.

Sadly not possible.

Shame a few forums I've been on had an ignore feature. God it was good!

redange · 08/11/2025 20:24

Earlier in the thread I believe there was a post about MI5 suggesting they are more concerned about Right Wing Groups than Left Wing ones. Well I think that has a lot to do with the belief that Left Wing Groupings buy in-to the agenda of smaller lives and control agendas ! The Right Wing Groupings are actively against the concept of individuals having smaller more constrained and ideologically driven lives.

I have to say, admit even, that I do enjoy a good bunfight now and again, Grin
some posters are just too hectoring and po faced though.

It’s fascinating really. They’re just like the gvt. Anyone’s fault But Labour. It’s so utterly bonkers it’d be laughable if they weren’t at the wheel.

Boohoo76 · 08/11/2025 20:29

For all the shouting about Tory bots across certain threads, it’s very clear to me that Mumsnet actually has a problem with Labour bots.

I saw the salary sacrifice one, was about to post and thought, nah. Why give the self righteous the chance to tell you how ‘fair’ they think it is and how we’ve been tax avoiding through salary sacrifice til now 😂

Let me guess, is it full of Labour voting pensioners on final salary pensions or welfare claimants. Someone has to pay for it all somehow.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2025 20:59

Put it this way, it was clear who wasn't a private sector worker!

SpaceRaccoon · 08/11/2025 21:08

Is it against t&cs to say there's someone on that thread I find hugely irritating, if I don't name names?

MrsMurphyIWish · 08/11/2025 21:10

I am losing my mind on the knife crime thread. I have posted - rationally I think - a few times explaining national data decrease may not correlate to area decrease but still being told “knife crime is down”. I’ll tell that to the kids I teach. That’ll make them feel safe.

Frankenchino · 08/11/2025 21:16

I picked up on the thread as it’s clearly popular and long running. I’m incredibly anxious about my son’s future. I do think Mumsnet is a good place to get a sense political climate/themes.
This thread - of course - anti labour. But also posts promoting flags on roundabout, anti immigration etc are ‘acceptable’.
And clearly the polls being posted indicate a very clear thing. Yet no one’s ‘allowed’ to mention the R word.
An echo chamber is an attempt to create an environment where you only want to hear views and opinions that coincide with your own.
Is it the fact that I’m saying that I support socialism - and that - looking at the polls it’s Labour v far right. That REALLY concerns me. Is that a view that you don’t want to hear and I shouldn’t express that here? Why?

SpaceRaccoon · 08/11/2025 21:19

@Frankenchino what outcome are you hoping to achieve from posting here? You're not actually engaging at all with the conversation as it happens.

InterestQ · 08/11/2025 21:28

Frankenchino - being disenchanted with Labour, for whom some of us voted in the last election - is not the same as being “Far Right”.

There are loads of threads more combative than this - there are other threads around that are also not “echo chambers” but may be more engaged with your current thinking to help soothe your anxiety about yours and your son’s future.

We are just a bunch of people with varying views who are stressed about the current Labour government and how it is affecting our lives.

Frankenchino · 08/11/2025 21:33

@SpaceRaccoon

If we denounce Labour and socialism - my son will be lost. Do you denounce without considering the alternative? What is the alternative?

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2025 21:34

If you trust Labour with your son's future you've not been paying attention to their plans, is all I can say.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2025 21:36

Also, you won't change our minds about whether Labour are doing well or are electable. They're not on either count.

Frankenchino · 08/11/2025 21:36

@InterestQ

I’m stressed too! Incredibly stressed! So I should be able to speak out if I disagree and still support Labour over ‘the alternative that can’t be named’.

This is irrational. We live in a democratic country. It's fine to criticise the government. It's fine to not like socialism. Neither of these things is "far right".

I suspect you're currently suffering from anxiety, bit I don't think this thread is going to make you feel any better.

I disagree and still support Labour over ‘the alternative that can’t be named’.

Do you mean Reform? This isn't a problem Reform thread so no need to "speak out" about it.

Frankenchino · 08/11/2025 21:40

@NoWordForFluffy

I think the issue is that I’ve been paying attention to the ‘alternative’ plans and that’s far, far more frightening.

Of course Reform can be named. We chat about them all of the time. Just not in the 'wanging on about the Far Right' context loved by the lefties. We actually discuss their policies and how good (or not) we think they'd be in government.

You'd be better on the pro-Labour thread as it's not good form on this type of thread to keep going against the grain (see the 'gentleman's agreement' I mentioned earlier). It's seen as antagonistic and goady, which breached talk guidelines.

I totally disagree. I'm scared witless that DS will lose his EHCP and support under Labour. If he does, he'll stop going to school again.

You need to pay closer attention.

If you still support Labour, that’s fine, We don’t on this thread (although many of us are not Reform supporters either) so not sure why you’ve got caught up with posting here. I haven’t read all your posts though so I admit I’m a bit lost with what’s going on.

I think we're all being accused of being Far Right. Or something.

Wait…you’re throwing around labels like,”far” and telling people what they are allowed to denounce, talk about and discuss. Wow. There is a word for that.

Frankenchino · 08/11/2025 21:49

@SpaceRaccoon

Of course it’s fine to criticise! I’m not trying to stop you. I’m just expressing my opposing view. I’m don’t know why that’s deemed unacceptable - or that you have certain ‘criteria’ that posters have to fulfil in order to comment on this thread!
