A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

You what now?
They don't see Labour at fault for the lack of graduate jobs? They're the first to go when the govt decide to tax jobs. Its not rocket science.

I don’t know why I actually cba bringing it up on that thread but I recognise Labour supporters.

I think I’ve joined some of you in feeling numb to it. The diehard Labour lot can crack on, it’s pointless even going there.

Edited

I know. I ventured out into the wild this morning, but its like banging your head against a brick wall isn't it? They're stuck on autopilot and no longer make sense.
I haven't seen that thread, probably for the best.

I doubt they even know how to use Excel at this point!

Any organisational thing would be fine

i'm not expecting them to be able to put in formulas. Or should I say formulae?

Interested in this thread?

The grad jobs one is ok there’s no actual political stuff on there just really sad and concerning stories about so many graduates.

That other thread on whatever it was was just pointless. Some will cling on to the bitter end. Fine, they can.

It is really worrying. I'm so glad my ds is happy and settled abroad. I worry about my other two dcs though with jobs and housing. I just hope things improve before they are ready to launch.

I'm actually a bit concerned about a friend who earns quite a lot of money but pretty much spends it all. It's like it's never occurred to her that people lose jobs. She's about 15 years younger than me. Something came up in conversation about the 90s recession, she was obviously far too little to know about that, and she seemed genuinely shocked by the fact that a couple of our family friends were out of work for 18 months, two years maybe?

I don't want to be the old granny telling people to save money. She seems to be a lefty but she also seems quite astute - maybe she's one of these "lefty in principle" types and she likes to talk about being on the side that she perceives to be morally correct... but may in fact be quite sensible with her finances and I just don't know.

Fingers crossed, anyway.

justasking111 · 06/11/2025 19:22

Ach this is all about a night of the long knives to get Starmer out. Political posturing. I'm onto ya

EmeraldRoulette · 06/11/2025 19:24

Lisa Nandy always seems completely out of her depth whenever I hear her speak

She is someone who I believe may not have known the rules, because she doesn't appear to know anything much.

not that it makes a difference. Time for her to resign?

EasternStandard · 06/11/2025 19:24

I haven’t read this but my first thought is Reeves won’t listen to this.

CandidLurker · 06/11/2025 19:31

Lisa Nandy. Before you make a significant appointment wouldn’t you check that you weren’t in any way “conflicted”?

It would have been very easy for her to check and you would have thought would be standard.

No one checked Peter Mandelson either.

they need to tick off these basics in a...spreadsheet? Trello? Anything will do!

editing to add - how many times do we get vetted for all kinds of things when we get a job? Even if we're not classified as working people!

Catatemyhomework · 06/11/2025 19:37

They should just ask us to do it. I mean, honestly, we can't be any worse. Everyone knows the score. The comments in all news articles are pretty much everything we're saying in these threads. Yet they have fingers in ears. Nah nah nah, can't hear you. Why are they completely unable to read the room? Yes, tough decisions need to be made, but no need to choke off growth. Yet here we are again. I think most people see it now, even if they didn't before. The small minority that don't, might not realise until we're all hungry and frightened. Too late then. Emperor's new clothes.

Yep just the blind loyalty to Starmer and Labour is out of this world.

Maybe.

This could be another dead cat. Perhaps they are throwing her to the wolves, sacrificing her to take some heat off useless Lammy. I don't think Nandy is in the Starmer clique.

Speaking of Starmer, did anyone see him stumble as he disembarked the plane with Prince William?

I know its childish, but I love watching Starmer trip up 😂

Just a little stumble this time. Not as bad as the one outside downing street.
