Confirmed by police about half an hour ago that the 35 year old arrested has been released without charge.

Given the offender was Afro-Caribbean, I wouldn't expect them to change their opinions

He was British born. What does his heritage have to do with it?

Men are responsible for 80% of violent crime. When you hear a violent act might have been committed, it’s reasonable to assume it was man.

Islamist terrorist are responsible for 67% of uk terror attacks. When you hear that there may have been a terror attack, it’s reasonable to assume it was Islamist.

But in this case, the perpetrator was just as likely to be mentally ill as an Islamist terrorist. It wasn’t a question of which form of terrorism it was, but whether it was terror related at all? Which it’s turned out not to be.

As aside, your statistics are wrong.

Men are responsible for 80% of violent crime and 98% of sexual crimes.

Just for future debates ☺️

Apologies. You are correct.

But that's what Netzero did, brought up in conversation that social media is scary. Not sure why you found it 'disgusting' that she said that?

Where did I write “disgusting”? I can’t find it

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 03/11/2025 14:53

cardibach · 03/11/2025 14:52

Apologies. You are correct.

It’s still a very powerful statistic.

NestingBirds said talking about social media being worse than immigration when innocents have died is disgusting and you said you agree with her, so you found it disgusting too.

It's possible to be both horrified by the attack and to be horrified by the blaming of Muslims and immigrants on social media. Injury is worse than words but the words on social media are leading to injuries to Muslims and immigrants.

As I’ve said my post is about SM and my view on that. I don’t really get the immigration line.

For clarity, I think some hyper focus on the horror of mn threads rather than the attack, which I find (found) hard to see.

Surely knowing this is relevant. If you google

Since the 2000s, most major terrorist attacks resulting in deaths have been linked to Islamist extremism

Most could mean several th8ngs. Could be over 50%. Could mean ‘more than any single other group’ and therefore less than 50%. Presumably you know, from your google. Why not share?

nomas · 03/11/2025 14:54

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 03/11/2025 14:51

“Uncontrolled social media than immigration”

Again, you’re missing out key parts. No one stated all immigration.
Uncontrolled immigration has meant a huge influx of undocumented males which makes a huge increase in risk of male violence.

Are you meaning to be so sneaky or is genuine carelessness?

What are you on about? I already quoted the poster, she said 'I‘m more worried about uncontrollable social media than immigration.'

See upthread and don't be so rude.

Yes. I agree. Which is why I didn’t attack anyone who was floating the idea of it being mental health related. Both were perfectly possible.

But you’ve subsequently missed it out… I’ll accept carelessness. I was just suspicious because you’ve asserted a few incorrect points.

Nothing to me, you, and the majority of people. but I was referring to the barely concealed delight of the racists

Boohoo76 · 03/11/2025 13:54

If you don’t have a clue why are you posting that the figures are higher for male violent crime?

You can have an idea of scale without a precise number. I’ve been told now. It’s approx a 65/35 split. Bit different from over 90%.

Missed what out? I have quoted the post by Netzero in my post of 14.14, nothing has been missed out.

Did you ever find that post where I supposedly called you a racist? Thought not.

Well, obviously, if we do it per capita it would be much higher.

“The poster said she finds social media scarier than immigration.”

I did actually but thought it unwise to derail the thread any further.

If you're going to auto conflate Muslims and asylum seekers with terror, you will be called out.

Doesn't matter how politely or reasonably you do it.

Which no one has done.

You missed out the world “uncontrolled”.

It changes the sentiment.

cardibach · 03/11/2025 15:04

EasternStandard · 03/11/2025 14:21

I agree with the pp on SM posts. No I’m not as concerned about people posting things as I would be on a train in that situation. Or worse family.

It sounded terrifying. As do all the recent events with out of control attackers.

My first thoughts are with victims always.

ETA you are making baseless accusations and as @Gloriiasays it’s tedious. Plus unfounded.

Edited

The comparison wasn’t SM or the train events though, was it? It was SM and immigration. And you are still conflating the two in this post.

There’s having empathy, and then there is diagnosing a complete stranger, who you know absolutely nothing about, with PTSD.

Maybe dial down the drama a little. Posters have been admonished all over this thread for making assumptions.

Nobody’s diagnosed him. I actually said that it would be astonishing if anyone on that train wasn’t traumatised. 🤷‍♀️

DuncinToffee · 03/11/2025 15:06

We have uncontrolled immigration? So why do we still have small boat crossings if they could just immigrate🤔
