Confirmed by police about half an hour ago that the 35 year old arrested has been released without charge.

What is the % of non-Islamist terrorist attacks in the UK over the last 20 years?

But that’s only once it’s confirmed as a terrorist attack

I’m talking about confirmed terrorist attacks over the past 20 years.

WeCouldBeNiceToEachOther · 03/11/2025 13:52

Now he’s appeared in court the picture becomes clearer.

He’s of no fixed abode, allegedly has mental health issues and the police failed to locate him after an incident in London earlier in the day.

Yet again, Tory underfunding of our services has caused an unimaginable atrocity.

Because “Islamist terrorism is the most significant terrorist threat to the UK by volume”

Edited

There are 161 Muslims in jail in the UK for terrorism related offences, out of 4 million Muslims in the UK.

There is never an excuse to tar the entire the entire Muslim community for something committed by just 0.00004% of UK Muslims.

That is what was happening on the full up thread, and would have happened on this thread had it not been challenged robustly.

Not a clue. Care to tell me?

If you don’t have a clue why are you posting that the figures are higher for male violent crime?

Is Labour getting in next time important to you?

They are in power now and do have responsibility.

You cannot blame Labour for 14 years of Tory mismanagement.

Again you’re attributing other people’s behaviour to me or EasternStandard.

Take your issues with them up with them and stop using their words in discussion with me as if I’ve used them.

Absolutely, Labour should have solved all the problems caused by underinvestment and neglect over fourteen years in just one year.

Get Reform "all it needs is common sense and kicking out foreigners" into power as soon as possible.

I’m genuinely at a loss as to who to vote for. I don’t want any of the options. They’re all absolutely abhorrent.

Or, a man failed to take his meds and attend his mh appointments.

We don't know do we but I'd hazard a guess that being non compliant in treatment is more relevant here than the tories.

They lose supporters each week but there is still some, how do you think they are doing well?

'non-compliant in treatment' is such a factor in so many tragedies - and is seemingly ignored

I didn't say they were.

However judging by all the Mumsnet threads that complain about paying taxes and all the ones that demand more money is spent on themselves and their families I'd say the chances of any government being seen to be "doing well" are minimal.

JamieCannister · 03/11/2025 14:09

Nolongera · 03/11/2025 09:41

We really don't need to incarcerate tens of thousand of people just in case one of them commits a crime.

We need to fund our mental health services properly.

No, we need to lock up people who are a genuine risk to the public, partly because the right for the masses to be safe trumps the right for a tiny minority of people with uncontrolled mental health issues to be free, AND because the worst thing that can happen to a seriously mentally unwell person is that their life is further ruined by a murder conviction.

But mainly because the rights of the masses to be safe trumps the rights of a tiny minority.

No because it’s all about the professional ability to risk assess and without resources either that risk assessment doesn’t happen how it should or they aren’t able to mitigate or respond to the risks in an effective manner. It’s like anything, you need people in place who both know what they’re doing and are able to do it. We haven’t got that because of years and years of poor funding.

You and Eastern were both whipping yourselves into a frenzy talking about the attacker being an asylum seeker. With zero evidence. Irresponsible and downright dangerous.

I‘m more worried about uncontrollable social media than immigration.

Nestingbirds · Yesterday 09:23
Yes because social media kills innocent people in cold blood. The down playing on this thread is nothing short of disgusting.

EasternStandard · Yesterday 09:25
Imagine posting this when people have been stabbed. I agree with you.

Sevenamcoffee · 03/11/2025 14:15

And being non compliant with meds would be a risk for some but less so for others but if we haven’t got a system that can effectively assess individual risk then this sort of tragedy will happen.

Tbf Mh services have been overwhelmed as everyone seems to think they have a mh issue so those with actual serious problems get lost in the system.

EasternStandard · 03/11/2025 14:17

@Nomasof course I’m more concerned about people stabbed than SM posts. The terror must have been horrendous.

Why wouldn’t that frighten you?

The point is you objected to people saying immigration is not the concern right now.

I think you think you're clever but your agenda is really obvious.

I agree with the pp on SM posts. No I’m not as concerned about people posting things as I would be on a train in that situation. Or worse family.

It sounded terrifying. As do all the recent events with out of control attackers.

My first thoughts are with victims always.

ETA you are making baseless accusations and as @Gloriiasays it’s tedious. Plus unfounded.

If you're going to auto conflate Muslims and asylum seekers with terror, you will be called out.

Doesn't matter how politely or reasonably you do it.

LlamaNoDrama · 03/11/2025 14:26

More news out now that he may be linked to several knife possession events/attacks in the day or so prior to Huntingdon but had left the scene each time and not found by police. The police have referred themselves to the IOPC.
