Confirmed by police about half an hour ago that the 35 year old arrested has been released without charge.

That's your privilege talking.

For the Muslim girl getting her hijab ripped off or spat in the face, the differentiation between Islamist or Muslim doesn't help her.

If you to use it interchangeably that’s up to you. I won’t.

I don’t think assuming terrorist links is useful but that’s mn, someone will argue otherwise so you do you.

cardibach · 03/11/2025 13:15

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 03/11/2025 13:12

If you hear a woman has been murdered in her own home, do you assume a male partner probably did it?

98% of violent crime is carried out by men.
It’s a bit higher than the % risk of a violent attack being both terrorism and Islamist.

There’s having empathy, and then there is diagnosing a complete stranger, who you know absolutely nothing about, with PTSD.

Maybe dial down the drama a little. Posters have been admonished all over this thread for making assumptions.

'Dial down the drama a little'. How little do you want me to dial it down?

It would be more helpful to that Muslim girl to show restraint until you know the facts.

So you do agree that when there is SIGNIFICANT RISK we can talk about it being a likelihood?

Grammarninja · 03/11/2025 13:17

If I was on a train in Japan where a random white woman started attacking people, I think I'd understand if I got taken into custody too. Covering their bases etc.
It's clearly a case of MH issues. So sad all round and nothing to do with race.

Stop blaming women talking for male violence.

What is the % of non-Islamist terrorist attacks in the UK over the last 20 years?

EasternStandard · 03/11/2025 13:18

@cardibachgoing by the proportion of mass attacks committed due to IS or other similar terrorism I think it’s fair to include but it’s not definite.

That’s from stats here and events in the EU

Overwhelming risk.
Significant? No, I wouldn’t make assumptions.

As aside, your statistics are wrong.

Men are responsible for 80% of violent crime and 98% of sexual crimes.

Just for future debates ☺️

You’ve found time to ask this but not answer my simple question. Because that’s not an answer.
I think that answers my simple question in itself. Thanks.

Surely knowing this is relevant. If you google

Since the 2000s, most major terrorist attacks resulting in deaths have been linked to Islamist extremism

Incidentally, the male violence statistics are not too far off the percentage of uk terror attacks being committed by Islamist perpetrators

How many countries are in the EU?

Yes but they carry distinct charges and classifications

33%

Men are responsible for 80% of violent crime. When you hear a violent act might have been committed, it’s reasonable to assume it was man.

Islamist terrorist are responsible for 67% of uk terror attacks. When you hear that there may have been a terror attack, it’s reasonable to assume it was Islamist.

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 03/11/2025 13:32

97% of murders are by men.

92% in the uk but close enough.

Probably higher if we have honest recordings of crimes by sex.
