A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I was also baffled by Chagos. THAT's the thing he prioritises the self-same second he comes to Government?

Yes, it seemed weirdly important to the Hermer/ Starmer monobrain. Like you say, a very strange priority to have. I have a suspicion that digital ID is equally important to Starmer, I think he's a very strange man (and not in a good way).

Reeves insists she will not resign if she raises income tax in the Budget.

Oh well, looks like that one is definitely baked in then.

DancingFerret · 04/11/2025 19:36

Quentin Letts is probably not everyone's cup of tea, but he has a keen eye and I like his acerbic writing style.

I put the celebrations in the loft one year to keep them safe after getting a bargain early in the season. It wasn't enough. It's better just to pay the premium closer to Christmas in this house than replace them again and again.

Yeah same. Except I buy them early on offer, and then I buy them again at full price because dh ate the first lot 🙄. I never bloody learn.

He has no self control around Xmas food. He ate 6 mince pies yesterday for lunch. Kid in a sweet shop.

She really does think she's special doesn't she? The mind fucking boggles with that one.

That’s it - it’s all about Rachel…

Yes I've started a Christmas cupboard too. I've put packets of oats and nuts in front of the goodies to hide them. If dh sees Xmas food, its gone. I have to change cupboards every year to maintain stealth.

@justasking111 It saves me money when I shop online, rather than going in person. I top-up at Lidl as its closest. I get too tempted by things I don't need if I go in. Dh is never here, so its all on me.
Sounds like your dh enjoys it though, so let him crack on 😁.

I used to enjoy buying treats when we were young and poor 🎻 🎻. but now we're older with dietary issues it's not as much fun. DH bakes up a storm. Game pies, terrine, salmon mousse, a ham so the fridge is full of snacks. There's his Christmas cake and mince pies to get through as well.

I get a yen for a Chinese after a few days of treats.

Anyone notice two threads that flew along last week asking us oldies how to have a

70's Christmas.
90's Christmas.

So many posts advising on home made decorations, tinsel, lametta, traditional lights, paper chains. A multi coloured decorated Christmas tree instead of themed stuff. I was quite heartened.

Bloody hell! I love a mince pie, but I don't think I could eat 6 at once! (Can't eat any yet as I've not made any...must get on with it!)

My garage is rammed with booze and snacks / ambient goods! Xmas Grin The kids are showing remarkable restraint (they know we can start on stuff when we decorate the trees)!

Good for you, I wish I was so organised. Our garage isn't safe as dh is always in there.
The kids arent the problem in our house, its dh. My dogs are better trained than him 🙄😂

My mum hid stuff in the suitcase on top of the wardrobe. That Outfoxed dad 😁

Yes. DH can be a problem here. He knows I'd boot him out in his sorry arse if he started on the Christmas food though! 🤣🤣

Our lab is not very lab-like and isn't that arsed about food (unless it's cheese / beef / salmon)!

Are you a house of multiple occupancy with adult children?

RoyalImpatience · 04/11/2025 19:45

Furious callers LBC one said she's from a council estate ,poor background ,comp built up her own business and she went into detail as to how and why labour is making her business unviable.

Oh he's not fussy, he'll eat anything that resembles a mince pie. I think he bought them from Greggs.
I was fuming watching him, but I couldn't bollock him as we were at work 😂

Those mince pies Lidl sells in a box of 12 last two days max between DH and I.😋 (Sadly, the price increased by 40p since last year.)
