A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Amazing thanks @TheNuthatch

If, every ‘Labour isn’t working’ thread came with at least one major Labour scandal/resignation, I would be one happy bunny.

Fingers crossed, this thread delivers…

Rivalled · 31/10/2025 10:17

I’ve said before, I was hoping Labour would be a lot better than they’ve been. The tone was set when the starmer’s £2k glasses and other freebies scandal broke and it’s been spiralling down since then.

Yes, that and the WFA bomb within weeks of taking office. Its been downhill since.

@upstartledon your post at end of last thread I’m more than happy to welcome pp like @Noodledogto this thread as they see how bad Starmer and co are but on feeling sorry for people, no.

Not the ones that still defend Labour on here, I just have to read a few of those posts and any of that is gone.

Yes the WFA debacle was the start of Labour’s downward trajectory I think. And ironically I don’t think reversing the decision has helped at all, it just looked performative.

DancingFerret · 31/10/2025 10:36

Thank you, @TheNuthatch. These threads really do canter along.😳

On the subject of prescriptions, there are certain medications for long term conditions which, once prescribed, mean all prescriptions going forward are FOC. I haven't paid cor prescriptions since I was diagnosed with an under-active thyroid, for which I take levothyroxine, at the age of 35.

The reason I mention this is my GP didn't mention free prescriptions, neither did the chemist. I only discovered it by accident.

justasking111 · 31/10/2025 10:43

Tis free prescriptions in Wales but scrutinized these days.

Thanks for the new thread @TheNuthatch

@Catatemyhomework Here is a list of illnesses that qualify you for an exemption certificate.
Who is entitled (medical conditions)
You're entitled to a medical exemption certificate if you have either:
a permanent fistula (for example, caecostomy, colostomy, laryngostomy or ileostomy) which needs continuous surgical dressing or an appliance
a form of hypoadrenalism (for example, Addison’s Disease) for which specific substitution therapy is essential
diabetes insipidus and other forms of hypopituitarism
diabetes mellitus, except where treatment is by diet alone
hypoparathyroidism
myasthenia gravis
myxoedema (that is, hypothyroidism which needs thyroid hormone replacement)
epilepsy which needs continuous anticonvulsive therapy
a continuing physical disability which means you cannot go out without the help of another person
cancer and are undergoing treatment for either:
cancer
the effects of cancer
the effects of cancer treatment
These are the only conditions that entitle you to a medical exemption certificate. If you’re not sure about the name of your condition, speak to your doctor.

I received this communique from Conservatives this morning. I finally think I may be able to trust them. They need to really push their plan on any and every platform.

The Bank of England will cut interest rates next week, Barclays has forecast, with the decision on a knife-edge.
Analysts at the bank said money markets were mispricing the chances of a reduction in borrowing costs when policymakers meet next week.
Traders have so far placed a 27pc probability of the Bank of England reducing rates from 4pc to 3.75pc on Thursday.
Goldman Sachs said this week that it was once again forecasting that policymakers would lower borrowing costs, while Deutsche Bank said the vote by the Monetary Policy Committee was a “very close call”.

Of course Bailey will oblige - he’s a leftie, of course.

Will be interesting to see how Reeves manages the next bout of inflation numbers….

On Monday, Sir Chris Wormald - civil service head, and Sir Oliver Robbins - permanent under secretary at the Foreign Office will face a grilling by the Foreign Affairs Committee.

'In this evidence session, members will seek to understand the processes behind the clearance and vetting of Lord Mandelson and where these processes fell down.
Questions are likely to cover whether due diligence should have uncovered the association between Lord Mandelson and Jeffrey Epstein.'

I'm glad the Andrew story is getting so much cover, highlighting the Epstein scandal and all those associated with it. One of whom our PM saw fit to appoint as Ambassador to the US.

I've mentioned in a previous thread that the Tory MPs and councillors where I live, and in Scotland in general, are being brilliant with regards to the industralisation of the countryside with renewables - they really are the only politicians here who are acting with any sort of custodianship towards the countryside.
So for me, supporting them is a no-brainer on that issue alone.
I have some very, very conflicted SNP supporting friends - really want independance, really don't want mega-pylons.

redange · 31/10/2025 12:53

Do you think the Andrew Winsdor (formally) known as 'Prince' is being used as a cover by the media to protect the Government from more 'sleaze', or even worse just incompetence .

As for the prospectus from the Conservatives, well if they had acted on half of these proposals in the 14 years we might of kept the Marxist agenda at bay. Instead 'we' (ex Conservative member now Reform) we pandered to the Ian Dale, Rory Stewart types .

redange · 31/10/2025 12:54

Might have kept the Marxists at bay !

redange · 31/10/2025 12:55

Bloody Dyslexia Of instead of have !

Upstartled · 31/10/2025 13:14

Thanks for the new thread @TheNuthatch

I don't think so @redange, Labour have such a trail of destruction that the (Man formerly known as Prince) Andrew debacle would have trouble not to swamp one disaster or another.
