A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Toxic Labour will most definitely only give their little State Treats to people controlled by (employed by) the state, and to benefit blaggers. Christmas will come early for them.

Apologies for my ignorance - and hope this question doesn’t come across as offensive - but (as a teacher) I have felt the recent pay rises were to rectify the years of pay freezes and below inflation pay awards that (us oldies) received in the austerity years.

What can be done to address a fair balance?

(Can I also say I have yet to receive the recent pay award as my school may not be able to afford the contribution).

Nolletimiere · 31/10/2025 14:56

Yes, the FT clearly remains skewed towards Labour…

Hidden pockets of deprivation in London and rural England have been uncovered by new government rankings that will shape policy and funding decisions for several years to come.

The first national study of deprivation to be conducted since the Covid-19 pandemic revealed that northern cities, industrial heartlands and coastal towns are still home to the most deprived communities in the country. An area in the district of Tendring, part of Reform UK leader Nigel Farage’s Clacton constituency on the Essex coast, was the most deprived of all 33,755 neighbourhoods in England for the fourth time.

But the data, published on Thursday, also revealed “cheek by jowl” deprivation — where low and high ranked areas sit side-by-side — in many parts of the country that previous studies have failed to pick up.

And that's just how they want it. More and more people relying on the state, whilst those in work get shafted every which way and sideways on sundays to pay for it. Makes you sick🤢

upseedaisee · 31/10/2025 15:16

In totally unrelated news... Sourdough bread isn't so good in a bread machine. Last time I made it, I used the dough setting and it was great, but cooked as well, hmm an ordinary loaf with a crusty crust. Hey ho, live and learn.

In other, other news..., has anyone else had rain on biblical proportions? It's stair rods here, so bad, the gutters were overwhelmed😲

Upstartled · 31/10/2025 15:50

Oh, we haven't had any rain. I hope that it stays dry here because ds3 has a home made mask that may dissolve under 'proper rain' conditions. 😬

I have had mine. Let’s be honest, it was a bribe to the unions to stop the strikes. Nothing about making sure teachers got a fair deal. Strikes cost money and are inconvenient. Schools can’t afford it though…

Yes sorry. I should have added that I don’t include teachers, doctors , nurses etc in the state comment. I think they should all get paid more, they are critical to our society.
It’s civil servants and train drivers that piss me off. Striking bring greedy.

Hi 👋👋

Just taking a little break 😊 back now! Sometimes the pure shite being spouted by Labour supporters makes me feel so stabby that I have to take a step back.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 31/10/2025 17:10

Just back home with the dogs after a walk and after a whole day of work.

Didn't think it was possible to bring so much mud into the house, but at least they had a good time in the park.

Need some Wine tonight.

EmpressoftheMundane · 31/10/2025 17:23

If the plan is to put up taxes 2%, then perhaps they should reduce UC by 2% to be fair. So we are all in it together.

No it’s got to be “the broadest shoulders”

They will almost certainly increase UC by inflation. Only state-dependent people are 'in this together' : the rest of us just pay for it

SpaceRaccoon · 31/10/2025 17:27

The phases "fair share" and "broadest shoulders" are starting to cause me a phobic reaction.

Likewise!!!

How is 10% of people paying 60% of the tax in any way a 'fair share'?!?

Fucking state-sanctioned theft.

They are so shite.

Yep apparently UC is going up 6.2% I don't think DS has ever had a pay rise that big!

Totally, I agree. I look at my gargantuan tax bill and wonder, how in the name of all that is holy, am I not considered a “working” person? What am I then? What is it I do everyday? It’s certainly not bloody leisure!!!!

No idea. I was going to rant, but I don't see the point.
