A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Just reading about the dumbing down of the curriculum it’s absolutely criminal so so bloody sad

Yes, I saw that thread too. There's another about discontent RE paying more income tax. Interesting that more people are becoming Disenfranchised. The scales are falling.

Interestingly Rupert Lowe asked the government to publish details of tax revenues from different ethnic/nationality groups. This information is collected by HMRC but not published and the government response was simply ‘HMRC do not publish it, And no wonder /Reform got it from a FOI request and clearly demonstrates why Labour are trying to but those voters.

Extra curricular enrichment benchmarks? Wtaf? Oh look yet another cheap policy suggestion to look good to middle class parents. Not really the key issue is it?

yes, yes, they’ve learned from the SNP well…

Increasingly, anything related to the state is in complete disarray - schooling, health, the rail network, GOVERNMENT.

Every morning, I want to be optimistic - and then I am hit in the face with the reality.

I read that Phillipson was trying to get schools to stay open after 2.30 as many are finishing at that time giving the old lots than the required 32.5(?) hours of schooling a week. Needless to say the unions said that can only happen if the lunchbresk can be extended till then /no actual teaching so no, the kids can’t have the required amount. And they know a Labour ‘government’ will never take on a teaching union.

The school my DC s would have gone to start at 9.00 and finish at 2.45. No idea about their lunch breaks.

Their record on bullying and SEN is horrendous. When I see how much work my DCs have (small independent - 30% SEN - classes from 8.20-16.20 and an afternoon a week doing service in the community) I honestly wonder how the other school can fit all their teaching in. It's reflected in their results naturally.

I am active in the SEN parents community in our area and many people have had to withdraw their DCs from the state school due to grossly inadequate provision and have turned to home schooling. We have one of the largest home schooling cohorts in the country I believe. Certainly I would home school mine before I would put them in the school in our catchment area, no question.

So bad. I can’t bear that. I’m so relieved two dc will be through. Not sure if A levels will be impacted though, one still has that.

Catatemyhomework · 05/11/2025 07:37

I am so relieved that my two eldest have left school. Still got one in year 10 so 4 more years and then I will be free from state education.
Not so for the NHS. Still stuck with the same old "you can have a telephone call 5 weeks next Thursday"

Yet they want more eye watering taxes. None of this will improve. It just gets swallowed up in waste and mismanagement. State services are broken and beyond repair.

Yes, the Government and welfare state are like parasites - with many of us representing the host.

At this rate, the host will not survive long - then what…..

Rivalled · 05/11/2025 07:50

I see outrage on the tax thread about the idea people claiming benefits should pay tax. But why not? People on benefits have to make a child support contribution, the idea that you have responsibilities as well as rights needs to be rebuilt across every single person.

Are you able to link? The graph is too blurry for me to read.

I really don't know. It's scary though. Civil war I guess when the parasite becomes homeless and can no longer feed off the long suffering host.

We looked last night how much additional tax we would potentially be paying as a family, it's staggering.

We've already cut back considerably due to cost of living. I knew about a year ago we wouldn't be able to afford a new kitchen in the next few years, very little eating out, no takeout, sky TV and most subscriptions gone. Haven't had coffees out in a while and rarely buy new clothes.

Next to cut might have to be cleaner, or basically our 'fun' money (for family activities every month like cinema, days out etc). Also considering handing car back once DC is at secondary as they can use public transport.

We will do everything we can to preserve our one family holiday and saving for deposit for DC. We don't have family money, so it's on us. We live the SE and our home is worth the same as houses on the local estate. I feel like we aren't too far off from 'why bother'. We've both worked hard, paid student loans, the only handout We've ever had is 'eat out to help out'. I imagine a lot of people will start feeling the same.

Catatemyhomework · 05/11/2025 07:57

I'm starting to think they want an IMF bailout. Then they can try and sell it to us that "we had no choice". Evil mismanagement. The back benchers still won't vote for welfare cuts as they don't want to lose their jobs. They'll lose them anyway, so might as well get on with it.

We are exactly the same. Nothing left to cut. House is a mess. Needs work doing, but can't afford it so it doesn't get done. We have no spare money. Christmas is a bloody headache.

Rivalled · 05/11/2025 08:00

I can’t see where the reform we need is coming from. Labour look like they’re just going to use existing taxes and nudge them up across the board.

God I hate it when I right sometimes. I mentioned the Healey budget of the 70's a few threads ago, well, MSM are picking the idea up with it now. IMF bailout next.

Right now, I think its what we need.

The government will be compelled to address the welfare state.

Totally agree NT. Someone said earlier, maybe they're orchestrating a bailoutt and I now wonder if that's it.
They've realised they can't manage the economy and are now looking for a real economist to sort out their mess and deal with those pesky backbenchers. Because the IMF will be in charge of our money if they bail us out and the minions at the back won't have a voice.
Then they have another excuse as to eaxplain away their ineptitude... The IMF did it.
Just call me Mystic Meg.😁

The latest stupid left wing and offensive post here.

Middle class people and Labour/Lib Dem voters are particularly disapproving of flag flyers

i think people really are beginning to understand that the majority of the far left, are racist, self-righteous bigots. Sooner we get rid, the better.

I wonder how New York will enjoy Mamdani the rich boy socialist cosplayer. Wes Streeting seemed delighted.
