Labour isn't working - Thread 16

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Love that. You have some interesting tales to tell Emerald, and I'm sure you're not a nobody.
I don't know who the good looking American is that you speak of, but after you said that you fancied Matt Goodwin, I have no faith that he'll actually be good looking 🤣🤣.

🤣🤣🤣

Oh, I totally agree!

There's only Labour and the heretics, and we are to play the pantomime villain so they can feel the wind of moral righteousness in their hair like they once could in opposition.

Knock yourself out. I'd vote Reform before I voted Labour if I didn't have a Tory to vote for. 🤷🏼‍♀️ If it's any consolation to the watchers 👀 I'd vote Labour before I'd vote Green - but what a fucking dreadful day that would be.

What is happening over on the Labour thread? One of the more bonkers posters there is saying they keep off this thread and we should do the same - in fact we get frequent visitors here don’t we?

All a bit childish I know but I had to post here or I would have posted on there.

Is that thread still going?
Don't let them wind you up, stick with us instead.
It almost feels cruel arguing with them at this point (almost 😉).

I don't know.

I'm confused. My little non working brain still can't make any sense of this.

Who am I? What was I doing that was the same as in the last few years when I was working, but now is not?

It's weird isn't I've spent all day not "working". Bizarrely not "working" seems to still pay quite well and still takes a fair amount of the day.

SpaceRaccoon · 03/11/2025 20:24

Mike Tapp actually posted something sensible about deporting foreign criminals on X - I had to check he was indeed a Labour MP.

The comments are hysterical - people are terribly upset with him for not wanting foreign sex offenders in the country.

Seconded.

Are we the baddies now then? How does that work when Labour are the party in government? It can't still be the tories fault when things go wrong,......or can it 😂

And I'm worried what my mother will think of me now.

She's always been adamant that a woman needs her job, and working is non negotiable and now it seems i'm not. I'll never hear the end of it.

Maybe I need a cat or four, now I'm not working? Byron, Blake, Keats and Rodney?

I think it's the fault of Brexit now

Ah yes, I see. That way they came blame the tories and Farage for their own fuck ups, all at the same time! Genius.

Yes always the Tories. Come 26th Nov RR will be blaming the Tories for everything she has had to do, “hands tied” “difficult decisions” etc. etc.

Upstartled · 03/11/2025 20:32

You'll have to stop working and become a worker, it's absolutely imperative for non-men.

twistyizzy · 03/11/2025 20:32

Meh to cat taxers. They are irrelevant.

Complete change of subject because they frankly bore me now:
DD has just run upstairs screaming that she got a Q right on Only Connect. The answer was "KENS MOJO DOJO CASA HOUSE" from the Barbie movie 🤣🤣 DH refused to accept her answer but it turns out she was right!

Wow. What a sensible chap. 👏🏻

The Home Office minister and MP for Dover and Deal issued a short video on Saturday morning that contained a very straightforward message: “I don’t want these sexual offenders and violent individuals here. And that’s why we will continue to increase deporting foreign national offenders. . . Don’t bother [coming to the UK] – we’ve got your biometrics, you will be picked up and you will be deported.”

Progressives who don’t want to deport foreign criminals will never beat Reform

The curious case of Mike Tapp presents a number of lessons for the Labour Party, the Left in general and particularly the hard-Left.

@TheNuthatch That made me laugh so hard, I cannot tell you

@upseedaisee I met him. He was really lovely and made a point of thanking every member of staff he met and he remembered their names. I didn't see anyone with a cheat sheet, but I suppose you can't read that level without having a good memory for names and faces.

@EasternStandard Well, kind of. I'm sure other people would say that I've had PTSD, (I wouldn't) and I was in treatment for depression and anxiety for more than two decades (and carried on working) ... I won't say any more in case anyone recognises me on here! But yes, I am very grateful for all the things I've done. Definitely strange how things have turned out though. Maybe that's why it seems odd that I had a big life before?

Probably best not to overthink it!

i'm always happy with cat pictures.

I never thought I’d hear a Labour MP tell this truth.

I know I gave up too but the pair of them have a Monday night quiz show ritual. They have ambitions to answer 5 Qs correctly on OC 🤣
