A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

We are living through times which will be taught about in future classrooms, I believe. Everyone will say 'Never Again'. Again.

We hope that we have a future.

BlackBean2023 · 02/11/2025 10:25

I have always voted labour despite their policies not prioritising me or my family’s circumstances because I was brought up to believe you should vote for the most vulnerable in society.

I am ashamed that I voted for this.

I am a well educated, white woman with a full time job and a good wage. I’m married to a white man who also works hard. Two years ago I would have been appalled to vote for Reform but today I don’t know where else I could even put my vote.

Yes agree, the alternative is not good.

Evidently No.10 is working on some last minute changes to the Huntingdon ‘comms’….

Oh god. That doesn't bode well. It will probably mean I have to give up my Sabatiers and cut everything with a plastic glue spatula.
You know how it goes.

What a senseless attack.

I see the hardcore left are out with name changes tying themselves in knots over the tragic news. I see these posters are very much in the minority now. Do they really not see that all the whatabouterry and offensive posts are literally pushing people to the likes of Reform. They are actively recruiting for them.

I'm Irish, and married to a brit, but living overseas. Visited both countries this summer and every single one of our family members and friends, on both sides, were extremely concerned about and against this uncontrolled influx of unvetted immigrants and how it is affecting their countries. Every single person. They aren't all "racist" or whatever other label they are assigned by some. They are normal people who are troubled by what is happening

What I see online is completely at odds with what I saw with my own eyes and ears that at this point I don't believe that those posters are genuine people

TheNuthatch · 02/11/2025 10:53

Morning all.
I was out lastnight so I've only just heard the news. How awful. Two people still in a life threatening condition.

What I find baffling, is the extreme left are just as intolerant as the far right. They polish their halo and tell everyone how virtuous they are whilst sitting in their nice MC bubbles. Houses that were bought many years ago, public sector pensions and benefits. They aren’t exposed to any hardship. They don’t see the real challenges in society. Just travel the world on huge pensions and return to their John Lewis sofa to quote another poster.

Yet, you’ll often see so much racism and xenophobia and they don’t even realise they are doing it. As soon as black British was mentioned, people are saying it’s not religion XYZ then. Why? does your skin colour determine religion now. It’s closet racism. Like there is a lot of closet homophobia as well. But they are good and virtuous so it is ok. Drives me mad.

The Huntingdon attackers are reported to be British nationals - one black and one of Caribbean descent.

I am not racist. I live other cultures - their foods, their celebrations, their traditions. I couldn’t care less about the colour of one’s skin or their religious beliefs. I have Christian and Islamic friends and colleagues - I’m an atheist but we have common values of kindness and tolerance.

However, there is an uprising of British Muslims - mostly young men - who are rejecting British values and actively working to undermine them. Muslims are afraid to speak out through fear of being ostracised in their communities (not dissimilar to those who didn’t speak up about wrongdoing in the church). I don’t speak up through fear of being called racist and losing my job. This must not be tolerated and we must be able to speak our views out loud.

Am I an islamaphobe? Perhaps, because I would be genuinely scared of living under Islamic rules.

This isn’t about the colour of their skin. Lee Rigby’s killer was black but was motivated by religion.

Many poster on the left seem ecstatic that the perpetrators are British born.

There is no mentioned as to whether these men were radicalised. I appreciate that it may be too early for the police to know this, particularly if they were not already known to security services. But I am fed up of some people pretending that there is no problem with radicalisation in this country. This denial is putting people of all races and religions at risk, including peaceful, integrated Muslims.

SpaceRaccoon · 02/11/2025 12:41

There's a huge problem with second generation immigrants and radicalisation, for all the left trot out the "see, British!" as some sort of attempted gotcha.

The Bataclan killers were French and Belgian-born. The Manchester attacker was born in Britain. Etc.

Rivalled · 02/11/2025 12:57

On an amusing note, the Labour talentless comms continues - I’m sure most people believe their GP is a LOT more useful than the prime minister! A rare gaff from Streeting.

my GP is certainly more useful than Starmer and could run the country better….

1 in 3 GP partners earn more than the PM, Wes Streeting reveals

SpaceRaccoon · 02/11/2025 12:58

Honestly, 3 in 3 GPs should earn more than Starmer.

Rivalled · 02/11/2025 13:00

Ikr, I don’t think this is the gotcha he thinks it is!! Useless politician vs your local GP 😂

Rivalled · 02/11/2025 13:01

And of course, an attempt to stoke up more dog eat dog anti high earner sentiment.

Rivalled · 02/11/2025 13:01

Not sure who is advising them but talentless doesn’t cover it.

Every time the same posters are more concerned about protecting Starmer than concern for safety, the crime or victims.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 02/11/2025 13:10

That Times piece made me chuckle. Nothing to do with GPs’ incomes; they’re welcome to that, it’s deserved.

It’s that Labour in opposition championed the BMA and are now in massive conflict with it.

The Tories should ridicule Labour and Sweeting: ha ha ha, look at what you’re faced with now by cosying up to a militant trade union. Massive payments for junior - sorry ‘resident’ - doctors wasn’t enough for the BMA. Changes in practice are resisted by the BMA.

You, Labour, made your (hospital) bed, now lie on it.

Rivalled · 02/11/2025 13:14

Agree - a factual case is one thing but a dumbed down sound bite comparing gps to the most unpopular PM of all tkme…
