A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Many poster on the left seem ecstatic that the perpetrators are British born.

I saw one said they hoped it was a white British male. FFS what is wrong with these people. A heinous crime is committed and all they can think about is the optics of the perpetrators. I'm sick of saying what is wrong with these people??

Yep. Its disturbing that that was their first thought and priority.
Its bizarre that someone like Starmer can command such loyalty.

That Times piece made me chuckle. Nothing to do with GPs’ incomes; they’re welcome to that, it’s deserved.

It’s that Labour in opposition championed the BMA and are now in massive conflict with it.

The Tories should ridicule Labour and Sweeting: ha ha ha, look at what you’re faced with now by cosying up to a militant trade union. Massive payments for junior - sorry ‘resident’ - doctors wasn’t enough for the BMA. Changes in practice are resisted by the BMA.

You, Labour, made your (hospital) bed, now lie on it.

So true.
Streeting has changed his tune now that he's in government hasn't he?
It wasn't long ago that he was trumpeting loudly about ending the doctors strikes.

Yes - SOP with them, isn’t it?

On an amusing note, the Labour talentless comms continues - I’m sure most people believe their GP is a LOT more useful than the prime minister! A rare gaff from Streeting.

my GP is certainly more useful than Starmer and could run the country better….

1 in 3 GP partners earn more than the PM, Wes Streeting reveals

So, Starmer’s salary is 175k? Can we pay him twice that to stay at home?

Rivalled · 02/11/2025 13:37

A spot of gardening leave def overdue for KS and RR!

I must admit that I’m half-glad that Starmer can’t sack the preposterous Reeves. I know we’ll get yet more economic incompetence, but it does shut down any Labour attack on other parties’ MPs’ breaches of regulations, past or future.

And tying himself to the plasticine Chancellor will bring them both down soon enough.

The Mail’s running a piece saying that the whole of Labour believes and is privately saying that Starmer’s on borrowed time. I discount that article a lot as being partisan. But any grain of truth in it is likely to be terminal for the clodhopping fool Starmer.

I’m so glad the grown-ups are in charge. No more chaos. 🤦‍♀️

EmeraldRoulette · 02/11/2025 14:21

That Times article is a mess

And I don't think Wes Streeting is trying to highlight the salaries in terms of comparing it to that of a politician. None of that appears to be a direct quote from him? sorry if I haven't processed correctly, I barely slept last night.

I think what the article is trying to say is that GPs have plenty of access to funding for their practice to provide a basic service.

But the BMA are known for being an absolute nightmare for getting in the way of any practical suggestions to improve systems.

I'd like to know more about this actually. I wonder if there's any stupidity involved - like when practices get told they're allowed to hire a physicians associate but not a practice nurse. Or any of the conditions attached to the funding they can apply for.

Great adjectives - you are on fire!

Nolletimiere · 02/11/2025 14:42

Outrageous, how dare Reeves contemplate removing BMW’s and Audi’s from the motability scheme???

Rachel Reeves will block sickness benefits claimants from getting subsidised luxury cars in a bid to show she remains serious about reining in welfare.

The Chancellor is set to announce sweeping changes to the controversial Motability scheme this month over fears it has become “unfair” to the taxpayer.
She is poised to end access to high-end marques like BMW and Audi and pare back perks such as top-of-the-range insurance and breakdown cover.

Ms Reeves is concerned that Motability is offering “a premium motoring experience subsidised by the taxpayer”, which is out of reach to many working families.

DrPrunesqualer · 02/11/2025 14:45

twistyizzy · 02/11/2025 10:04

And Labour are fuelling the breakdown with their constant divisive rhetoric around "working people" Vs "privilege" and "broadest shoulders" etc.

They are actively choosing to create division and class warfare over cohesion. Vile group of people.

So so true!

This rhetoric is creating a very scarey society for many

Yes

Ooh you’re right @EasternStandard I didn’t read it properly it doesn’t look as if it is a quote from Wes!

wrapped in there was a claim that 2010-2024 has seen the slowest wage growth in 200 years.

MantleStatue · 02/11/2025 16:31

Checking in - I lost you all!

twistyizzy · 02/11/2025 16:50

Sorry but have to "Lol" at all the Labour supporters now realising they aren't "working people" and being outraged 🤣 because when Labour talked about "broadest shoulders" they didn't think it included them 🙄

justasking111 · 02/11/2025 16:58

Friends son did two years as a resident doctor. Now unemployed found a job overseas. Flies out next week. I'll ask him if he'll earn more than the prime minister now

My friend's doctor daughter headed out to Oz with her doctor boyfriend after her two years' residency.

Starmer, Reeves and Labour really are only going to have the very few left on here batting for them.

Yep on the 45K thread. Some handwringing and regretting of voting Labour going on. Plus the usual race to the bottom of salary comparison

EasternStandard · 02/11/2025 17:36

I do like it when Starmer and Reeves put more people off. It’s the ones who stick by them no matter what that are too much.
