A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

The greens are coming for Labour.

From the BBC
16:27Breaking
No 10 has insisted the prime minister has full confidence in the chancellor.

That's her gone then🤣🤣🤣

Isn't Reeves married to a high ranking civil servant? I though he was head of the DWP at one time?

This could get messy 🍿

I thought he worked for DEFRA

Wowser

Just now on the news - the estate agents have apologised to Reeves for their oversight in not advising her of the licence requirement.

Maybe if they'd issued that apology this morning it would be more believable. Almost 24 hours after the event leaves a certain taste in the mouth. "Got at" was my first thought.

I thought he worked for DEFRA

I think he does now, but he was the director general for finance at the DWP before that. I think it was seen as prudent to shuffle him away from welfare and pensions when she became chancellor, for obvious reasons.

Same!

Is anyone looking at that FON polling in amazement?

Reform then Greens. It’s so bizarre!

Yes! I'm amazed. I always voted green in my 20/30's

We need a deep dive into ‘Gareth Martin’ now - see if his story stacks up.

I trust the DT/DM are on it.

Hmm I’d get on that straight away

Yep! I did a double take.

I wonder if we’ll see a Greens v Reform situation

I still think Kemi has it on what we should actually do but the electorate is jumpy

EmeraldRoulette · 30/10/2025 17:58

Rise of the Greens is a worry though we saw that from earlier polling

Must get the message out to those who don't know what they're about

Anyway, update on RR

From politics UK on X sorry I can't link - I never can because I have to use a different device for MN because it basically doesn't work!

Basically, the letting agent offered to apply on her behalf but the person who said that then resigned and nobody picked up the paperwork

That's going to be a judgement call whose fault you think it is

I'm supposed to be doing my make up. Must go 😂

CaveMum · 30/10/2025 17:58

The Letting Agent statement is very odd. They say they don’t normally apply for licences on behalf of clients, but somehow they happened to have offered to do so for this one client? Convenient.

EmeraldRoulette · 30/10/2025 17:59

Note to self

Do not become the crazy person who is late to go out because they were wasting time on the Internet 😂😂

This is weird.
So the estate agents don't normally apply for the license, they just advise their client that they need one.
On this occasion, a staff member at the estate agent offered to apply for the Reeves, but then he resigned on the Friday before tenancy, so nobody did the application. 🤯

Its still breaking the law. She should have been across the details and checked, as everyone else has to.

Not that strange

My last estate agent offered to take some bags to the charity shops for me

Depends how friendly they are

Also, I'm pretty sure the lady did something related to EPC which I could've done myself and she didn't charge me for it. I think she felt sorry for me because I was just frantically busy.

Like you, I think they've been got at too.
However, I hope they've benn paid off with a huge chunk of change, because that's their business down the tubes. No one will trust them or want to use them for such a public cock up (allegedly)

EmeraldRoulette · 30/10/2025 18:00

Doing a favour for the chancellor of the exchequer will get you a lot of brownie points. Except that hasn't worked so well this time.

Possibly Reform V Green, if the cons don't improve their offering. Its so odd.
Starmer can't attract voters from Reform and the Greens at the same time. He's screwed.

It is a bit weird. Reading the Times app, the estate agents were not responsible for applying for the licence but offered to do so anyway. Then didn’t.

Problem is, I could imagine someone making the offer to a famous politician then getting a bollocking from their boss. Someone I know used to give bollockings like that (it was his job).

I haven’t really read it but didn’t Reeves say she didn’t know it was needed?

In that case the offer to do it doesn’t stack up. She did know
