A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Yes, I have good news it's a few days old but I don't remembered it being covered in the threads so far, but there has been a change to the family law courts to move away from the priority of parental involvement in the face of safety fears.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/af7bdbc111fd5742

How it ever got to this point, and why the law couldn't see the flaw in the logic without needing to lean on the sad experiences of dead children, is beyond me but, absolutely, this is necessary progress.

Yy, to the devastating impact of this employment rights bill. How anyone could think it be a good idea in the face of the job losses in the wake of the minimum wage hike and NI hike job defies any rational sense.

Not only will it engineer more unemployment it is yet another way to make employing people a high risk activity which will further stymie growth. Morons.

100% - clearly the unions and backbenches are in control.

Morning all - and thanks, @TheNuthatch.🙂

Is there any good news, other than Kebatu being back in custody?

Yes.
I am off my Cheerios induced sugar high and the breadmaker has just produced a perfect seedy malted loaf. 😁

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/10/26/migrant-mistakenly-released-from-jail-is-arrested/

"The migrant sex offender who was mistakenly released from prison has been arrested in London, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed.
Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu, who was jailed after the sexual assault of a teenage girl, was apprehended at around 8.30am in Finsbury Park on Sunday.
Kebatu, who arrived in Britain on a small boat, was released from HMP Chelmsford on Friday, when he should have been sent to a detention centre for deportation to Ethiopia.
He was arrested on a London bus after a member of the public recognised him and alerted the police, it is understood. He was wearing a dark-coloured puffa jacket with a checkered black and grey hoodie up, jeans and grey trainers.
A witness told The Sun: “He was arrested on the bus. There was one plain-clothes female officer and another woman officer in uniform.
“Two uniformed male officers wearing blue forensics gloves joined them and put him in the back of a van.
“He was handcuffed behind his back and looked pretty glum. There was no struggle. People around recognised him immediately but let the police get on with their job.”"

Well done that member of the public. You'd think with all the cameras in London the police would have caught them?

Yes, more party over country bollocks.

@Upstartled but he wasn't even trying to run or hide .

I'm not sure what you mean? The surveillance work that police do isn't restricted to running or suspicious behaviour?

Itcantbetrue · 26/10/2025 11:41

" you would think with all the cameras and police in London the police would have caught them "

Yes I agree and it wasn't even like he was trying to run or hide.

I think based on what I have seen this morning from my MP we can now expect a very concerted and specific anti Reform comms campaign.

Oh, do you have Pochin? She's fast becoming the liability.

I expect that there will be reaction and campaign against her. I'm not sure how effective it would be - so far every push to tar Reform seems to afford another opportunity for the party to make hay - but if it manouvres people back to the Tory party, that suits me.

MantleStatue · 26/10/2025 11:57

I googled how much Keir Starmer's house is 'apparently' worth (in light of the idea of a mansion tax). Funnily enough it's under the proposed threshold. Colour me surprised.

Go figure. Taxes for thee not for me.

Just so. I was going to have a google myself, but @MantleStatue has beaten me to it.
Thing is, these days, there's not a lot of house for £3mil in certain areas. I can't believe I've just said that, but it's true.

Julen7 · 26/10/2025 12:21

@TheNuthatch you asked me on the last thread was I at the airport for business or pleasure, appreciate this was about 20 hours ago but it was pleasure (although flying home, not going, from Greece with daughters and have managed to catch a stinking cold so that part not so pleasurable!). Just trying to catch up with the thread but have piles of washing, need to go to shops etc. Sigh.
edited to say I know I’m lucky to go away, everything just a bit grey!

CaveMum · 26/10/2025 12:41

Placemarking to catch up later. Thanks @TheNuthatch for the new thread.

It's a tax on London.

It's depressing how fundamentally stupid this government is.

No but I have a Labour MP who has posted about her comments. I think they will start to be more co-ordinated about it now m
