A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Well audibly and visually more palatable than BP. Same old Fabian nonsense though.

I wonder if the Labour Party will ever see fit to vote for a female party leader. Maybe even PM, when Keir gets chucked out. They’re very good at padding the rest of the party with women.. just.. never.. the top spot.

Starmer, being the small man he is - in all senses - doubtless tries to surround himself with those unlikely to present a threat.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 25/10/2025 10:26

A recently sacked Leader of the HOC who had clashed with Morgan McSweeney stands for Deputy Leader and wins?

Oh dear.

No doubt the cat botherers will trumpet this as a sign of the Labour family’s wisdom, forgiveness and collegiate spirit. Bollocks. Powell will be a poison pill running around inside Labour undermining Starmer and his favourites.

It’s all about revenge and self-advancement.

Exactly.

Turnout of 16.6%.

Evidently the party members don’t even give enough of a shit to vote.

Boris in the DM this morning on Caerphilly and much more. It's quite long, but it does just about sum up the whole sorry Labour story so far.

I particularly liked his take on football fans.

I can't disagree with a single word. Boris has yet again, shown there is a complete lack of ability and statesmanship in the Labour party.
I have Unleashed by Boris in my to read book pile, along with Kingmaker by Graham Brady and Politics on the Edge by Rory Stewart. Re-reading the Thursday Murder Books ATM.

Don’t watch the TMC film! It’s awful.

EasternStandard · 25/10/2025 10:33

My view on the DL is I wanted the one who will give the most discomfort to Starmer so if that’s Powell then great.

I hope LP makes Starmer's life hell.

BBC news:
Powell took 87,407 votes, comfortably beating Phillipson on 73,536, with a turnout of 16.6%.

160, 943 member votes, and they are pretending that that represents 16.6% of their membership. Think I'm hitting the bullshit button on that one.

Who in their right mind thought Pierce Brosnan would make a decent Ron? and Bogdan was a miss as well. I had Ray Winstone pegged as Ron and a shaven Tom Hardy as Bogdan.

LOL.

Keir’s a w&nker?

Powell then pays tribute to Angela Rayner, joking that the former deputy leader is known for her shoes, "and she's left some very big ones for me to fill today".

Erm, also a very large wine glass, vapes and an inflatable dinghy….

I wondered if that was a dig at AR’s boob job? But that could just be my twisted thinking.

By my arithmetic that would make Labour membership a little over a million.

Even under Miliband/Corbyn’s £10 jumble sale membership it only reached half a million and was down to ~300,000 at the end of last year.

What a load of nonsense.

I can smell it too!
Labour have approximately 300,000 members, give or take those they've lost to the Greens. So by my calculations it should read nearer 60%. M aybe someone has dictated and typist heard 16 instead of 60!🤣

Agreed. And in addition - in such a contest, at such a time, shouldn’t 100% of members vote. It’s their fcking reason d’etre. It’s not the GElectorate. And even the members don’t gaf. Says it all

Edited

When the first book came out I had appalling insomnia. I used to while away the dark watches of the night by fantasy casting TMC.

Ray Winstone was clearly the right person as Ron. I suspect even RO had him in mind.

Bogdan simply had to be Goran Visnjic.

Seriously. I have NO idea why i was not consulted.

I bet there’s some voting eligibility tied to union membership or some other semi-detached status of ‘members’ who aren’t really members. It’s all smoke and mirrors.

Maybe. I seem to recall when I had to join a union in a closed shop company, I could vote for the new leader of the Labour party. But even so, union mebership must run into the millions, so it still doesn't make sense unless you pay extra to donate to the party in yur subs? maybe that's it.
