A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I could scream when I think of how badly this Labour government is running our country into the ground. 4 years can't come quickly enough for me. I can only think people will not vote in another Labour government for a very long time.

Love the cartoon thanks @TheNuthatch, really appreciated!

Just finished Newsnight with a young woman called Jo Grady spouting opinions she couldn’t back up and wasn’t challenged on. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo_Grady

When I first came to this country, Newsnight was Paxman and three, old, white men in suits with 40 years experience and Oxbridge degrees. I know it’s unfashionable now, but I would like to hear from well informed experts again, rather than people because they fit a demographic or identity niche.

I think the problem is shying away from having older people on…old people may not look cool or with it, but their life experience gives them a good number of datapoints to draw from.

Ed Milliband has approved the building of a 1200 hectare solar farm on Lincolnshire Farmland. That's not going to be popular.

EmpressoftheMundane · 14/10/2025 23:23

Destroying farmland is ghastly.

justasking111 · 14/10/2025 23:39

We won't even get the job of building the panels, that'll go to China. Apparently rounding up sheep underneath is a non starter despite the claims.

Sadly people will forget and vote for them again at some point. And their purpose has been to cynically bribe voters so that net receivers of their benefits culture may continue to tip the balance in their favour.

Jo Grady is in her 40s, she just stomps around like a student.

EmpressoftheMundane · 15/10/2025 07:15

She talks like one if my children…grand statements of how she wants the world to be with no reason or facts. I am amazed someone can get to forty and be so shallow.

Our university sector is clearly bloated and driving young people into debt for little value.

Lutonsgirl · 15/10/2025 07:20

Good Morning..thanks for the thread @TheNuthatch and the cartoon..I do like Matt!

I just do not understand this at all. In fact the stupidly blows my mind.

hamstersarse · 15/10/2025 07:24

I’m amazed you can stand to watch Newsnight anymore! Congratulations, you deserve a medal

Upstartled · 15/10/2025 07:24

I suppose that makes her a good fit for the trade unions. A lot of magical thinking that never has to meet the tricky subject of reality.

Upstartled · 15/10/2025 07:25

Oh, yes, thanks for the new thread @TheNuthatch!

Catatemyhomework · 15/10/2025 07:26

Thanks for the new thread. I've been inactive for a while. This covid has wiped me. Thought I was getting better, then I ended up with 2 days of vomiting and dizziness.

Saw this today in the Independent:

But speaking of media, does anyone see our leaders X posts and account?

It’s such a clear demonstration of the delusion of the Labour Party. It’s obviously not Kier Starmer writing the banal, delusional, always inappropriate posts, and the comments are literally 99% horrendous, but still the account keeps posting. It’s so strange.

Maybe they actually believe Newsnight has more influence?

twistyizzy · 15/10/2025 07:59

Yep they are just propoganda pieces that no-one believes and makes them look even more out of touch

It's fucking disgusting. We need food security and farms. Once farms have gone they will never come back.
Everything this government does destroys a little bit more!

They are bizarre. Randomly IG showed me a Starmer getting off a plane post a couple of days ago and the comments were as you say. But why promote on there like that? It’s toe curling and defunct.
