A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I am the only person to have a strong dislike of our so called Safeguarding minister. Her debating style is patronising, angry and generally cones across as uneducated.

It's a fine like between passionate and angry and she cannot walk it.

100%

Looks like she’s had her fair share of real world dust-ups in pub car parks etc.

No not just you.
She comes across as extremely arrogant, bitter and angry. Lots to say but doesn't listen.

Nope. I posted earlier about how much she reminds me of Rayner. Rough as a badger's derriere, both of them <looks round guiltily>. (Am I allowed to say that?)

On the subject of Rayner, I wish journalists and other commentators would stop referring to her as "Big Ange". It sounds too affectionate.

Elections delayed again!!!

They're running scared from Reform and no mistake.

Caerphilly is Labour’s broken stronghold
The century-old Labour seat may fall this Friday

Caerphilly hasn’t voted anything other than Labour in more than a century. A by-election there is meant to be a quiet contest in the incumbent’s back-yard. It is turning out to be anything but. Labour started off defending a relatively safe majority of 5,000 votes. Now the governing party is in a dead heath with Plaid Cymru and Reform.

Labour I hope will be ousted. Plaid have been tainted by them. Promises made and broken with enormous arrogance if they backed labour.

Lovely.

Seems like at least 5 of the survivors of the gangs disagree though.

Parsley4321 · 23/10/2025 22:21

@thatsmyhouse you think she’s not trash ? After her behaviour and demeanour this week at the dispatch box
re the 5 in agreement I don’t believe it I think they are lying I don’t believe they could find one to back her let alone 5

There are over 30 girls who make up the panel of these survivors, if they can only find five who are invested in Phillips staying then I'd say that's as telling as the five of those girls who have stepped forward to say that Phillips is actively failing the inquiry - and then have Phillips frame them as liars in Parliament.

Upstartled · 23/10/2025 22:29

Caerphilly results are expected about 2am.

They are abuse survivors but not of the grooming gangs.

EmpressoftheMundane · 23/10/2025 23:34

Labour are just digging themselves a hole with the rape gangs. They keep obfuscating, diluting, distracting and gaslighting. It’s all pretty obvious, and we are all watching.

The councils with the biggest problems were Labour run. They should face up to it. Take the hit. And then move on. As it is, they are keeping a horrible cloud hanging over their heads. It’s not a good look. It’s surprising that they are dragging it out. Surely crisis comms management advice would be to apologise, be transparent and then correct it. It sucks for them, but it is the least bad alternative.

Then general public are sick of being gaslit, all parties have been guilty of it. It’s insidious:
-you can’t call COVID the Wuhan flu
-COVID didn’t originate in a lab
-a woman can have a penis
-men with a sexual fetish for dressing as women present no threat to women in bathrooms, hospitals, or prisons
-the grooming gangs have nothing to do with the cultural background of the perpetrators
-net zero and green energy are bringing your bills down
-raising national insurance is not a tax on working people

We badly need some honest conversations. I don’t know how we will solve problems we cannot correctly identify and reach a shared understanding of.

Upstartled · 23/10/2025 23:37

SpaceRaccoon · 23/10/2025 23:13

They are abuse survivors but not of the grooming gangs.

I saw rumours about that being the case. If that's true, it seems further evidence of the original complaint that the remit of the inquiry had been broadened to dilute the outcome.

Nolletimiere · 24/10/2025 02:14

PC win Caerphilly.

Upstartled · 24/10/2025 07:01

Well Done Plaid.
Gosh, those vote shares!
Just 11% for Labour - from 45% - looks like the survation poll was on the money there. Turnout was at 50.4%, the highest ever for a Senedd by-election - so a lot more people came out to break Welsh Labour's century old winning streak.

EasternStandard · 24/10/2025 07:17

Nice Labour deserve that. Massive swing.
