A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

One of the first things I taught my DC was to ‘own it’. Put your hand up, learn from ‘it’, don’t make the same mistake - you might find people forgiving.

Look to shift the blame, get a rep, deflect etc - all bets are off.

Some of these politicians are undiagnosed psychos.

Ikr. If only they had your ethics.
They behave like their parents never said no. Starmer genuinely looks shocked and horrified when someone disagrees with him.

To be fair I think that’s his natural look. Where some might have a resting bitch face, Starmer has a resting demented dumb owl face.

Which is a shame. Because I love owls. 🦉

That's very unfair on owls though.

There is now such a thing as shy Labour voters who may not show up on polling due to being too embarrassed to admit who they will vote for. 😂
I thought that was a Reform phenomenon?

Speaking as someone who grew up in West Yorks, I can confirm it has always been an issue around Leeds/Bradford etc. As a teen girl you learned to be streetsmart very quickly about those things. My MC liberal parents were oblivious.

She said it's got so much worse in the last two years. Girls and women are being openly menaced by groups of males when they finish work. They've put bouncers into some bar restaurant areas to escort women safely back to their vehicles because they were being harassed attacked.

Upstartled · 22/10/2025 16:54

Baroness Kate Hoey has been scathing on Jess Phillips and says it's time for her to resign. Interesting, among other things they pointed out how she is over-emotional and seems to be unravelling.

And it made me think, between Reeves crying in Parliament, Rayner shaking on resignation, Phillips having a full - how very dare you- hissy fit yesterday and Powell's reflexive dog-whistle sulk, the women of the front bench don't seem to have an ounce of cool or grit between them.

They really don't. Very sneery and vile towards others but ultra sensitive themselves. Very strange.
They certainly aren't role models for young girls.

Absolutely. I agree with @twistyizzythey’re overly sensitive can dish it out but can’t keep it together.

Kemi is calm no matter what bullying sneers Starmer throws her way, that’s pretty good.

Yes I agree with you on the cabinet. It gives professional women a bad rep.

When I saw the interview with a survivor on Sky, she described Jess Phillips as reacting aggressively in her speech and body language (she was talking about her appearance in the house that you posted a video of earlier today).

REVEALED: How Keir Starmer's 'staged' PMQs sparked anti-Reform UK 'collusion' row

Sir Keir Starmer received a treat ahead of Prime Minister's Questions today. In a pink see-through folder, MPs had already shown their hand.
However, the two MPs whose questions have been seen ahead of time do not sit behind the Prime Minister. Rather than being Labour MPs preparing to lob low ball after low ball at Sir Keir, it was two Liberal Democrat MPs who tipped off No10.

South Cotswolds MP Roz Savage is preparing to ask Sir Keir about brownfield sites and Truro & Falmouth MP Jayne Kirkham is requesting more support on apprenticeships. While the questions appear innocuous enough, there are growing concerns that a Lib-Lab pact is strengthening every week.
The Prime Minister and Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey both hurl insults at Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. The pair consistently label the Clacton MP as a shill for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

FFS why bother having two sides of the chamber?

I mean, we just didn't get this from the women in the Conservatives. You never saw Badenoch, Patel, Maurdant or Braverman losing their composure in parliament or interviews, did we? At least they kept a public face that didn't scream 'politics is too tough for women'.

Nolletimiere · 22/10/2025 17:39

Thing is, the ladies of the conservative party are obviously schooled in how to operate in the chamber and they all come from a background where they have needed a certain amount of resilience.

Labour, well, it seems they rely on the school of wet lettuce.

I grew up in Leeds and was told by my mum NEVER to get in a black and white taxi in the City centre on my own. Local mini cabs from our trusted firm were fine as she knew the drivers and they were all white. She never said that last bit. One evening I got separated from friends and thought, I’ll just get a black and white home, they are licensed, drivers checked etc. Mum just being over cautious. Big mistake, the scariest journey of my life. White girls are slags, they are asking for it, …..My mum knew, she grew up in the inner city area that these drivers lived in…
