A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Martin Lewis has given talks in the past about the 4 things you “need” to be successful, only 2 of which you can control:

Talent
Hard work
Focus
Luck

Unfortunately there does seem to be a lack of people who want to work hard to achieve their goals these days.

Jess Phillips should be sacked so of course she won't be.
Another 1 promoted way above her capability.
Labour are too mired in the grooming gangs to properly investigate them. For many reasons.

Utterly disgusting that anyone ie Labour are covering up as has been done to these child victims their whole lives.

What else can you do but laugh at this, the whole scheme is so pathetic to start with.
Icing on the cake this.

Sons partner in Leeds confirmed it's still happening. Girls vanishing off the street, from Uber cabs. My son is having to pick her up now because she's pretty and blonde. The universities are keeping schtum.

Horrifying. I’m so saddened about this and angry in equal measure. Personal experience aged 14 tells me nothing has changed in 30 years. In the system, the courts, the police. Worsened maybe. As a Mum to a 16 year old, it resonates so much. How do these people sleep at night. I just can’t comprehend it.

I agree again - Michelle Obama is good on this topic - that a lot of life is blah and boring and about holding on, even when you’re on track to achieve your goals and we don’t present that to kids enough.

nobody says much that it wouldn’t be work if they didn’t pay you anymore.

Yes I've seen that, she's spot on. Being an adult is about learning to be happy with the mundane etc

Speaking as someone who grew up in West Yorks, I can confirm it has always been an issue around Leeds/Bradford etc. As a teen girl you learned to be streetsmart very quickly about those things. My MC liberal parents were oblivious.

White paper on send delayed until next year. The government 'want more time to build support'. I'll bet they do!

https://www.theguardian.com/education/2025/oct/22/white-paper-on-overhaul-of-send-provision-in-england-put-back-to-2026

Ha ha yes because they know the proposals will be highly controversial 🙄 plus could it impact Bigot"s DP bid?? Not that I'm cynical or anything

Rivalled · 22/10/2025 15:51

Ooooh good news re kicking their shitty SEN plans down the road - let’s hope they need even longer. Every year someone’s child gets through without their EHCP being taken away is a win.

Rivalled · 22/10/2025 15:52

There will never be enough time to build support for that absolute pile of doggy doo.

Fingers are crossed here. And as for this inquiry debacle, it’s another thing that simply doesn’t make sense, how have they managed to get this so wrong again?

I do understand it’s a fraught and complex area but if a lay person can see in 5 mins that chair selection had obvious issues…why on earth couldn’t Labour?

Because they don't listen to anyone other than themselves. We need to accept that they don't see things like normal people do,they see the world through their very specific 6th form Politics lesson viewpoint. They simply can't function outside of that.

The other contender for Chair has also withdrawn now, saying he didn't have the support of enough survivors.
Starmer's twaddle about not wanting it to be judge-led due to the time it would take
has been dismissed by one of the victims who resigned from the committee. She said she doesn't care how long it takes and would rather wait for it to be done properly. In her interview on Sky, she also called for Jess Phillips to step down.

Whoa….

Yeh, saw a few girls fall prey sadly. The worse thing is that it was normalised as in we, as teen girls, normalised it. Disgraceful really 💔

Nolletimiere · 22/10/2025 16:08

Angela Rayner has said she hopes other families will learn from the “honestly made mistake” that allowed her to avoid a £40,000 tax bill.

How about you own it, Ange.

Stop with the deflection and faux contrition.

That’s shocking - to read about it is one thing, but to hear a first-hand experience really brings it home.

Exactly! Most other families in that position are being targeted by Labour so wont get a chance to make her "mistake". They boil my piss, hers was a "mistake" yet outside of her bubble people who can afford to do that are deliberately avoiding tax?? Fuck off Ange

Yep, same. I grew up in one of these areas too. One of the girls in from my former school is a victim. One of the teachers would keep the girls back when these bastards were parked outside school. We knew where to go and where not to go, everybody knew.

One of the first things I taught my DC was to ‘own it’. Put your hand up, learn from ‘it’, don’t make the same mistake - you might find people forgiving.

Look to shift the blame, get a rep, deflect etc - all bets are off.

Some of these politicians are undiagnosed psychos.
