Labour isn't working - Thread 13

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

So a real mixed bag but the good news is that Labour didn't win any and were bottom/near bottom for most of them.

TheNuthatch · 17/10/2025 08:02

Thanks twisty 😊
Awful results for Labour - good.

Some very interesting bi-election results coming your way

Broadheath (Trafford) Council By-Election Result:

🌳 CON: 36.8% (-4.4)
🌹 LAB: 22.3% (-19.0)
🔶 LDM: 19.2% (+14.9)
➡️ RFM: 16.5% (+11.2)
🌍 GRN: 4.7% (-1.9)
🙋 Ind: 0.5% (-0.8)

Conservative GAIN from Labour.

Good one. Pleased to see Labour drop down in all.

Upstartled · 17/10/2025 08:15

It's going to be a wipeout for Labour in the council elections next year. I wonder how their membership numbers are doing after seeing the state of their support at the local level?

You can only imagine given they were down to 309k in February, before they gave up declaring to save embarrassment.

It’s an admission of complete failure. The bullies are in charge now.

Asrar Rashid, the Birmingham-based cleric said in a video shared on X “We will not show mercy to Maccabi Tel Aviv fans travelling to Birmingham for the Aston Villa FC match,”

How is this not hate speech and incitement to violence?

Two tier justice... and the state admitting to having lost control of parts of Birmingham.

I feel pretty sombre today, and think that David Betz's warning of a 60% chance of a civil war within 5 years, started in either the UK or France and then spreading through Europe has come one step closer.

redange · 16/10/2025 21:21

A new low for this country as Maccabi Tel Aviv fans have been banned from next weeks Europa League match with Aston Villa at Villa Park Birmingham.

This because West Midlands Police are unable to guarantee the safety of Jewish fans in a predominately Islamic part of Birmingham.

That’s awful. And so embarrassing.

Nolletimiere · 17/10/2025 08:21

You get the distinct impression that the UK is already at, or rapidly approaching a crossroads, which will determine the shape of the next 20 years. There is seemingly internal conflict everywhere, with many of us in a state of hostilities with this Labour Government.

It’s quite an achievement what Labour have managed in such a short space of time. They have alienated large swathes of the electorate, and got many people at each other’s throats.

Post budget, there is a real opportunity for an activist movement called ‘The Broadest Shoulders’ or similar - a voice for the ‘squeezed middle’.

This cannot carry on.

I am increasingly of a similar view - the fault lines are clear to see.

It absolutely is an incitement to violence.

They really should apply the same level of policing as the stockport riots. I don’t know David Betz. Off to google!

Nolletimiere · 17/10/2025 08:40

Reeves is catching a break this morning, alas.

There is a flight into havens including sov debt, given the regional US banks credit fears.

Thing is, if folk don't report it, nothing will be done. That's often how these people get away with it. I've just reported the post to X and I'm considering reporting to the olice. If these hate speeches continue to go unreported, they will continue to get away with it.

Rivalled · 17/10/2025 08:50

I don’t know how they’re allowed to get away with the football violence threats either…of course one of the reasons for both world wars was to force Germany together against external enemies, and look at Trump, according to him Americans are under threat from within and without - nothing historians haven’t seen before.

upseedaisee · 17/10/2025 08:53

Apparently, Lisa Nandy is meeting officials to overturn Ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans. And so I should bloody think!! Last time I looked we are not in Pakistan and this Imam's incitement has no place in Great Britian.

Upstartled · 17/10/2025 08:59

Oh that political powerhouse, Lisa Nandy? FFS. This is a failure of our policing. This is the home secretary job, surely? Not arts and games CBA to get out of bed, Nandy?

It’s a pretty big flash point. The MP driving a petition for ‘our area’ and getting fans banned. People are angry already.

I thought the same.
Perhaps the Home Sec is busy this morning protesting outside a Sainsbury's for selling Israeli goods.

It is a flash point, agree with you there. Are we seriously going to allow our second city to ban Jews?

I was just reading some of the comments from the local independent MPs. I won't c+p them here, but 🤬.
Jezza has also welcomed the ban.

I can't answer than without getting banned from MN.
I know which side I'm on.
