A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

God. It's actually depressing how broad and wide Labour's attack on aspiration and innovation is.

It's all about the 1 size fits all ethos. No-one shall have what someone else doesn't. Can't have state kids being aspirational and at the same time pushing as many independent DC into state.

Funding cut for IB in state schools. So only independent will offer it

They really are repulsive. I can barely look at their faces, understanding now, just how much their nasty bitter anti-aspiration anti success divisiveness, envelopes everything they do.

How can anyone on here support it and them? It’s bizarre.

Absentosaur · 07/10/2025 08:07

Add on top their misogyny and sexism. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

I feel genuine visceral revulsion when I see Bridget Phlippson. She was on GMB earlier and i had to turn over because she genuinely makes me feel sick. I can't bear to hear a stupid word that comes out of her mouth.

I can see why some people would vote for Labour - people on benefits they shouldn’t be (not genuine claimants), people who hate the Western way of life. They don’t want to take away the hand that feeds them.

Yes agreed!! Just seeing a photo is bad enough.

She has the same effect on me! It's visceral and i can't bear to watch or listen to her.

Ha not sure I haven’t heard her recently anyway. Starmer, Reeves, Lammy all out, Rayner out anyway.

I’ll have a laugh and chat with you guys and ignore them and I might get through the next few years ok.

She was on Laura Kuenssberg on Sunday doing her sales pitch for deputy.

You will be pleased to know son is now back in Hungary visiting friends who were away when he was there a few days ago. He's asked them about their ID card, and they all say it works for them, however, if you have a passport, you can use that instead. You don't need both.
They also said, if we want to sort out our illegal immigrant problem, do what they do and don't have them in the first place. Hungary still refuses to take migrants that Mutti Merkle welcomed into Europe and won't take any new ones either. If any are found, the populace are encouraged to 'motivate' them back over the border from whence they came, Poland has the same attitude. Now that's what I call protecting your borders.
He's off to Romania next.

Hello, thanks for the new thread.

I am in a couple of minds about banning / restricting protests. On the one hand, I am deeply suspicious of governments who want to control people’s lives.

On the other hand, I am in central London. The endless protests are a real nuisance - and mean that I avoid certain places. I remember when my Mum was coming out of hospital, the road near me was blocked because a load of Just Stop Oil people had decided to sit on it. The bus drivers were fine (they are paid regardless) but there was a taxi driver (electric taxi) going mental because he’d just started his shift and couldn’t get anywhere.

I question, to some extent, how much I hate the protests is down to my own prejudice. I grew up in Brighton so spent my youth listening to left wing people who like to shout about how righteous they are. I think the pro Palestinian protesters lose more hearts and minds than they gain - stuff like blocking Brighton station on the evening after those people were killed at the Manchester synagogue and dancing in the street is just downright unpleasant.

upseedaisee · 07/10/2025 09:13

Oh and Thanks for starting thread 12 @TheNuthatch
It never occurred to me that this new bit of protest legislation is being hurried through to coincide with digial ID.

Hmm, yes. 3 million people signing the digital id petition could make some protests which are inconvenient for the government! I could see that the anti-immigrant protests could be two-tiered, but hadn't thought of that. I'm the one feeling manipulated now!

I really don't trust this government at all. They are slippery snakes, and even when they seem to do something reasonable, they have a hidden nefarious agenda.

How on earth did anyone ever believe that they were the 'good guys'/had good intent?!? Oh yes, because they said so, loudly and repeatedly. Never trust the slimy man who says 'trust me'.

France has taxed the growth out of its aviation industry and hobbled its tourism industry for good measure.

The instinct to tax fucking everything to save government from the political pain of reducing spending is an exercise in shooting yourself in the foot.

Good job Reeves isn't eyeing up our aviation industry to write budget increases the treasury can't yet cash - oh, of course she fucking is because she's financially incontinent.
