A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Ed Milliband has approved the building of a 1200 hectare solar farm on Lincolnshire Farmland. That's not going to be popular.

Some of the best food growing land in the country and he covers it in Solar Panels. If they don't bleed us dry, they'll starve us.🤬 He's a feckin 🤡

Because socialism doesn't believe in privately owned or run farms. They want people working on huge state owned farms.
It's insidious

Just finished Newsnight with a young woman called Jo Grady spouting opinions she couldn’t back up and wasn’t challenged on. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo_Grady

When I first came to this country, Newsnight was Paxman and three, old, white men in suits with 40 years experience and Oxbridge degrees. I know it’s unfashionable now, but I would like to hear from well informed experts again, rather than people because they fit a demographic or identity niche.

I think the problem is shying away from having older people on…old people may not look cool or with it, but their life experience gives them a good number of datapoints to draw from.

I agree. Older white, well-educated males just don't fit in today's woke agenda. They've been demonised by the so called '''tolerant'' left. I don't see Andrew Neale on TV any more either. He would have really held Starmer to account in an interview.

Sadly people will forget and vote for them again at some point. And their purpose has been to cynically bribe voters so that net receivers of their benefits culture may continue to tip the balance in their favour.

When Labour were in last time they did exactly the same, plus they created thousands of nonsensical jobs in the public sector to keep people voting for them. Nothing has changed, these are some of the jobs advertised in the NHS recently

A People and Culture Change Lead in Woking £35,500-£39,220.
Speaking Up Safely and Culture Change Project Suppory Manager in Wales NHS £30,420-£37,030.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager in Newcastle NHS £46,148-£52,809.
Change, Readiness and Benefits Programme Manager in Torbay NHS £62,215-£72,793.
Sustainability and Carbon Manager in Northumbria NHS £53,755-£60,504.

It's fucking disgusting. We need food security and farms. Once farms have gone they will never come back.
Everything this government does destroys a little bit more!

100%.

I am seriously contemplating installing a modest-sized Polytunnel in my garden.
I will probably grow nothing, but it feels right…

They are bizarre. Randomly IG showed me a Starmer getting off a plane post a couple of days ago and the comments were as you say. But why promote on there like that? It’s toe curling and defunct.

It's because they think we're stupid and are influenced by their comms. Hence them saying they need better comms as opposed to better policies! Idiots.

All these roles are to tick boxes to show that they are complying with different regulations and directives. It is infecting the private sector too. It is a real drag on our productivity.

Sorting out all the unnecessary regulations from the necessary would be a nightmare. No government has succeeded. I think we will languish until we do.

I always thought it a shame Johnson was too spineless to face Andrew Neil during the 2019 GE. That would have been an interesting hour.

Returning to lurking!

The NHS are full of post like this and usually very well paid.

I grow a bit in my garden. Its a worthwhile endeavour. I'm no expert, but I could keep us going for a few weeks if I needed to.
I have a small plastic greenhouse now and I manage to produce quite a lot in a small space.

They have. We represent everything they hate: aspirational MC, 2 parent 2 incomw household with 1 child, use independent school, rural, never claimed anything.
If you had a tick list of things Labour hate, we would have it all 🙄

twistyizzy · 15/10/2025 09:08

Although obviously now thanks to Labour we are a 1 income household.

It feels like they won't be happy until we've got nothing left 😕

When I read posts like yours, my blood pressure starts to rise - I bloody despise these people, really.

I cannot forget the smug looks, the smirks, when they enact policy which hurts decent people.

It makes me incandescent.

This makes me very angry. Allotments are invaluable, not only for growing food, but for community and individual wellbeing. They will be replaced with, no doubt ugly cheap housing and tiny gardens, inadequate parking. And we will never get them back. I was on a waiting list for one many years ago, which I never got, and then moved away.
