A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Local anecdotes:

A medium sized local business is closing down here in my small market town; employed between 50 and 100 people. Managed to limp through lockdown but Labour have done for them.

In years past houses moved pretty quickly here, but I can see from my garden at least four that have been on the market since the beginning of the year; a neighbour who works for a small local estate agent says they just can't get viewings at the moment as buyers are nervous about the budget. This is having a knock on effect on many local tradespeople.

Quite a few pubs have massively cut their opening hours. No idea how they are staying afloat. Others are under 'new management' frequently.

Since our county council changed hands, the area is increasingly dilapidated; footpaths are untrimmed, potholes not repaired, increasing graffiti etc. etc. The whole area is beginning to look very unloved.

It just all feels grim. Beginning to remind me of the 70's frankly.

Is she lying?

Usually yes.

Upstartled · 15/10/2025 10:29

Falseknock · 15/10/2025 10:25

I asked is there any truth to what she said?
What should be done about it if it is true?
You don't hear anyone protesting about the real issues. The people want to blame immigrants.

Who's blaming anything on economically active and productive immigrants here? Nobody. You'll have to go elsewhere to feel righteous about that one.

"The people"....?

We constantly debate the real reasons on this thread and hardly ever mention immigration.

What has that got to do with Reeves and the budget?

In 2016 you voted to make yourselves poorer. Then in 2019 you hoped that Boris would put it all right and get Brexit done which he didn't do. Instead he threw Northern Ireland under the bus and we were no better off. Now we are blaming the Labour party for the bad decisions we made previously. There is a saying that I have heard time and time again "British people don't like to admit when they are wrong". They would rather sit in it than speak out against it.

Oh well, I suppose it is just another round of 'I disagree with you so therefore you must also be everything else I hate in the world' which has become the theme of our drive by posters. Although the analogy to a race hating arsonist is going the extra mile 😂

Tbf quite a few are realising they got it wrong with Labour at the last GE.

I'd say, Labour managed to secure a landslide with just 9.7 million votes. Now roughly half wouldn't touch them with a barge pole in the next election.

So that's less than 5 million people now who have faith in these losers who are fucking up our economy.
