Labour isn't working - Thread 13

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Yes agree re voting on the economy, at the moment people certainly feel worse off than before Labour got in, and that’s definitely a problem that is hard for Labour to turn around

Exactly. Labour will struggle to pin the blame elsewhere when people have real like experience of pre and post Labour.

More money in your pocket was promised at the election. I think they'll find the electorate won't take excuses as a substitute for cash.

I'd say all these posts on here is a sign that it is working.

Brexit didn't work so vote for the guy who made that happen or go back to your natural home the Tories

I must admit, I’m confused.

‘I'd say all these posts on here is a sign that it is working’

To what does ‘it’ refer, in your sentence above?

I'm not sure that poster made it much further than the thread title and 'it' is Labour.

When Labour were in last time they did exactly the same, plus they created thousands of nonsensical jobs in the public sector to keep people voting for them. Nothing has changed, these are some of the jobs advertised in the NHS recently

A People and Culture Change Lead in Woking £35,500-£39,220.
Speaking Up Safely and Culture Change Project Suppory Manager in Wales NHS £30,420-£37,030.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager in Newcastle NHS £46,148-£52,809.
Change, Readiness and Benefits Programme Manager in Torbay NHS £62,215-£72,793.
Sustainability and Carbon Manager in Northumbria NHS £53,755-£60,504.

The Tories didn't make an effort to get rid of these jobs though

I was hoping they could at least reduce them through natural wastage if they couldn't face making redundancies. But as far as I know, they didn't do anything. David Cameron talked a lot about cutting wastage but no one actually does it. They get into government and they want the gravy train to get bigger and bigger. Or should that be longer and longer?

Yes I lurk on these threads, just as posters on this thread lurk on the Starmer threads. I report the occasional post as do the lurkers on the Starmer threads. All part and parcel of the site.

But, as posters here now make very personal remarks about me and other Starmer thread posters (our supposed lack of hygiene, our choice of perfume, our "parochialism"), I think it is fair game for me to post here if I wish. Might as well.

Insults and jeering about political views, fine. The above, not.

OK so it's carte blanche then?

Just checking because I currently don't lurk on there but it's seemingly ok so I expect a modicum of respect if I do comment on that thread now. You've been lurking on here and reporting back for ages. I am happy to return the favour.

😂 Oh I see. I suppose I should have known, given the rest of the post didn’t demonstrate much critical thinking.

Labour are annoying the right kind of people seemed to be the gist of it. What, pensioners, disability benefit claimants, tax payers, unions who are about to strike?

their approval ratings are so low I’d say they’re annoying the vast majority.

Nolletimiere · 15/10/2025 12:13

EasternStandard · 15/10/2025 10:04

The main point for Reeves, and Starmer, is they committed to a one off tax hike after the last budget. If they do raise taxes again then they’ve broken that pledge.

Pledges are meaningless to these people - their simple retort is that the ‘world has changed’ - everyone sees them for the liars they are.

This is such a nonsense lie they deserve to be eviscerated. They’ve fucked up and made a hole bigger. If there really are tax rises coming then Sunak was right and everyone should go nuts at Labour’s incompetence.

One can only surmise that they too have given up on Starmer and his motley crew.

Perhaps they are ready to come in from the cold?

Agreed, and the polling data amply demonstrates that.

I maintain that the 26th November will prove to be an absolute horror show - I confess that I am praying that Reeves goes in hard, so that we can accelerate the demise of this wretched government. I am no sadomasochist, but I am increasingly of the view that we want as much pain upfront, as possible.

We already know that they are liars - it does not otherwise alter the equation, IMHO.

‘…the Court of Appeal’s decision recognises the serious human rights implications of the policy, including potential violations of Article 14 (prohibition of discrimination) and Protocol 1, Article 2 (right to education) under the European Convention on Human Rights.’

Well who’d have thought it. Not ex human rights lawyer human bollard Starmer, it seems. 🙄

Our local privates all have chapels and group worship. It’s very vague, ecumenical stuff. I wonder if they will soon be getting back to their roots. With their Hindu, Sikh, Muslim and Jewish clientele being surprisingly happy with it. 😂

Yes in the original court verdict they admitted it breached the HRA under the Articles it was brought under. They also agreed it was discriminatory. The conclusion was that the government was OK to do that as money was going to state schools.
However 2 days prior to the verdict Starmer posted saying the money was going to housing. He knew the verdict in advance and was mocking us. They lied in court.
